Never miss a talk! SUBSCRIBE to the TEDx channel: http://bit.ly/1FAg8hB Magnus Walker talks about his life journey of following his passion and going with his gut feeling which eventually led him to turning his dreams into his reality. TEDxUCLA was organized by UCLA Extension Visual Arts http://visual.uclaextension.edu In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Is this an ad for Porsche or a talk about intuition? I’m confused 😐

The coolest TED I've watched. I have a tendency to go against my gut feeling and do the "safest" bet. This is probably the time to do the leap of faith.

Ha, I watched this thing a while back, maybe a year or more ago but I forgot about it. So I'm watching TED talks and here's this "hermit" looking guy doing TED and, once again, my interest is peaked. Within the first couple of words I recognize that I watched it but I stick with it all the way to the end and discover (for the second time) that he's not that interesting or his story isn't anyway. Obviously, I'm a sucker for hermits.

Love this!! Great story and great words of wisdom!! Follow your gut & everything in life is a stepping stone to success!! Love what you do & it never feels like work! I have been self employed since I was 19.. First a house cleaning business for 18 years because it was better than being stuck in a building every day doing office work.. then a book keeping business that I only had for a year.. then started a home based business 15 years ago and I travel the world and run my business on my phone!

This idea I believe originated with Socrates, who believed that the "gut feeling" or strongest thought in your head was essentially GOD telling you what to do

Most comments here are positive and admiring. But his first gut feeling (when he started out in LA) was to lie and screw someone that he had just met. Is everybody OK with that?

Interesting but whoever is incharge of mastering the audio for these videos sucks because I have my Windows 10 laptop volume at 100% and the amount of concentrating required for me to make out what he is saying has me stopping the video at 4:00 minutes and not viewing more, will likely skip other TED talks I see YouTube suggest to me... there is a standard for audio levels people... it's a world wide standard... idiots uploading videos at TedxTalk of course... this is what The Decline looks like.

The lesson here is to live in complete DETACHMENT. Magnus never felt attached to anything, things, people, situations. He is a naturally free person, almost childlike, flowing in the moment, living in the moment, no past, no future, just seeing what appears in front of him. No fears. No worries. Complete surrendering to what life brings to his path. He is so free and detached, that he does not care what you or anyone thinks, and he can shut down a business without any second thoughts. He lives in the moment, relaxed, enjoying whatever life throws at him. Like a puppy...

TED TALKS I LOVE YOUR TALKS AND HAVE LISTENED TO HUNDREDS OF THEM THIS ONE SOUNDS ONE LONG DRONE UNLESS YOUR A BLOCKY CAR ENTHUSIAST REALLY COME ON YOU CAN DO FAR BETTER THAN THIS. I am a hippie myself so it has nothing to do with discrimination it is just the topic and the boring presentation THE FIRST TIME I CAN SAY I GOT NOTHING OUT OF IT.

Nice story, but what’s up with the hair? It is really a sincere question. I really want to know the purpose of it? You just like it, it looks cool? People will think you have a lot of wisdom? There is a story behind it? That’s your blessing? That’s your curse? You don’t have ears? You don’t have half of your face? You are too good looking?

Met him today at pdx meet! Seems like a normal dude but you can see the passion in him for Porsches or vw bugs. He signed peoples bugs and Porsches.

Never understood why this guy was a big deal.... now that I’ve watched this video, I REALLY don’t understand why this guy is a big deal. I don’t get it. It doesn’t make sense. It’s like he never has (and never will) live in the real world. He operates in a novelty reality, in a niche market. Seems like a bum, who got lucky time after time. Now every hipster wanna-be idolizes the guy and thinks they can be just like him. What am I missing?

HollywoodCreeper (2 months ago)
Here's the truth: You catch a glimpse of his dissatisfaction with his financial decisions when he says he paid two people's mortgages. There is maybe a little greed there and not wanting to get a bad deal. Accelerate him in time in terms of financial sophistication and he is just a guy working for an investment bank which is probably the very thing he will outwardly say he is against, but at his core, is everything that he is. He was striving for this money from early on. People that do it for love, don't make large deals where they loose control of what they are doing. He hired a bunch of people. He was not limited by the amount of clothes he could make in a day. There are no real artists almost today. Almost everyone, if not everyone is tainted by publication and wanting to be seen. Very few things are real and true. This guy wanted to broadcast all this stuff to everyone. I haven't seen this trailer or mini movie or what ever else he talked about, but O suspect it is one of these things where he is driving a Porsche, telling people about his passion....all the while being monotone and not seeming so happy. I don't doubt that he likes Porsche and genuinely enjoys it, I am just saying that he sacrificed a lot of his heart and mind to get to the point of buying them and getting them. Now he can, but could he have the satisfaction he would have when he first fell in love with them when he was younger? And probably more so, did he really love them that much, or was it more the widespread propaganda of their diserability, scarcity, expense, and performance that drove his interest in them?
HollywoodCreeper (2 months ago)
Now he is just being used as a tool by Porsche. And that is fine. I am just saying that a lot of the emotional truth is not conveyed in his story to me. He kind of recites all these things without taking a breath. It sounds more like he kept on inheriting more work. I agree with what he says as a backdrop to the whole thing, but it comes off like he Is very corporate. That is kind of a larger thing with many things like I would love to do a funny movie or some skits, but my friends who are funny are unreliable and won't do the work, and the people who want to do the work aren't funny. Haha Creative people aren't often interested or are straight bad with money and financial decisions.

In April 2017, in Austin Texas, i took the “REV’IT” Bus/Shuttle from the Handbuilt Bike Show to COTA, to See the MotoGP for the 1st Time in my Life,, There were 8 People on the Shuttle that Day, including the Driver. On the Shuttle was This Guy, three other guys, who sat around him asking him all manner of questions nonstop, Two British Ladies& Moi. I had no clue till this Day, who that fella was, until I saw this TED Talk..!? I missed the Shuttle the following Day, and the Races with it. I don’t know what that means, if anything, but There It Is. It’s 3:35 in the Morning CST, 07 Nov 2018, -5 Degrees Celsius, the Cat is bugging me to go Outside& we’re in the Heart of Winnipeg Mb Canada. I’m a Vet, older than Magnus, not Half as Switched On,, and nowhere near so successful. I do love my V11 Guzzi, the Cat& my Old Aprilia RSV-R (which I can’t afford to put on the Road, insurance being what it is,,, not to mention it’s so bloody Cold up Here...). Have a Good One All!
