Stels ATV, a new ATV brand has surfaced in North America, and I have to say it might take my heart when it comes to style! The style isn't everything however, so the question is are these machines going to be something you should consider as a future purchase? //Subscribe to Midwest ATV// https://www.youtube.com/midwestatvtrails?sub_confirmation=1 If you are asking yourself who Stels is, your not alone. Stels is actually owned by Velomotors. Still, have no idea? That's understandable, I didn't know either. Velomotors is a Russian company that makes products such as scooters, bicycles, snowmobiles, and ATVs. The company has recently expanded and is now starting to sell ATVs in other parts of the world. Currently, Stels is selling two models of their ATV here in North America, the Stels Guepard 650, and the Stels Guepard 850 The Stels Guepartd 650 is sporting a 4 Stroke V-Twin 650cc engine that pushes 52hp and 44lbs torque. To help put that in perspective, we can put it up against what we consider its Can-Am competitor the Outlander DPS 650. The Outlander DPS has a 549cc Rotax V-twin engine pushing 62hp, a 10 hp gain. Moving back to the Stels Guepard 650, it also comes with 28-inch tires providing 12 inches of ground clearance. It has LED headlights and includes turn signals, which seems to be a more demanded item as of recent years. It also has a CVT transmission and all disc brakes There are a couple of things of special note to point out on this machine. First off, it comes with push-button 4WD. Built in with the 4WD system is a fully locking Dif! The ability to control and lock the dif when I want versus when a computer wants has always been a big feature to mean, so that's a big plus. The second note to mention is the width. According to Stels, the Guepard 650 has a width of 61" from axel to axel, that's pretty wide for a stock machine. With that wide stance comes the final item requiring special attention. The weight on this beast comes in at 1,404 pounds! Just so you know it's not a typo I will say it again, 1,404 pounds. That is a heavy machine, especially when we are talking about a 650. The second model Stels is bringing to North America is the Stels Guepard 850. The 850 has a 70 hp motor pushing 55 lbs torque. It has the same 28-inch tires but the ground clearance is increased to 13 inches. The 850 also sports a really nice looking radiator relocation setup and just overall looks great. In fact, both models being sold in North America definitely have good looks going for them. Otherwise, this machine is very similar to its 650 counterpart (from what we know thus far). Alright, so let's talk money. I was able to finally get a response from Stels, Which is another concern we will discuss in a minute. I was informed by Stels that the 650 will most likely have an MSRP of $8,500 and the 850 will most likely have an MSRP of $9,500. Additionally, those prices are said to be for the fully loaded models. Now the prices are "planned" because Stels is still working on EPA certification and once that is complete, Stels USA will be releasing the official pricing. Overall, these Stels ATVs are pretty intriguing. What will become of them though we will have to wait and see. One thing of concern is their lack of information and customer service. Their website is mostly broken English, which is concerning because it makes me question the amount of support they have here in America. I also noticed a lack of customer service and assistance. I reached out to them multiple times and received little to no contact back without continuous effort. The reason this is even more concerning is that they have a lack of support in North America now. So if it's hard to get a response, there is really no one above them to complain to or go to with concerns. Do you reach out to someone in Russia? So what's next with Stels? We will have to wait and see. What I am most anxious for is to see a few of these machines up close. We would love to get a demo ride and spend a little time with the company to gain some more knowledge of the employees and experience with these machines. While there are definitely areas of concern, the company is still getting started in North America so I expect there will be a few rough patches as they get off the ground. With that being said, the lack of good customer service and limited support at this time are definitely something to keep an eye on. Have any input?
