Heroes III Restoration of Erathia Campaing: "Dungeons and Devils" Mission: #3 - Steadwick Fall
This one can be tough one. It REALLY pays if you pumped many heroes to 12 lvl in previous mission and learned a lot of spells from those 12 magic guilds, especially town portal. I am too lazy to train 8 heroes to 12lvl so i trained only two and one scout is 3rd level. And about spells, I had only chain lighting and implosion, but I could have Dim. Door, Town Portal and much more if I could visit all guilds in previous maps, but as I said, I am too lazy:). Begin of course with Dungeon heroes.
Okay, so basically, we have one enemy and three towns. Use Inferno and Castle towns only for money making and build up Dungeon. In first week you have to build City Halls in two towns and Town Hall in Castle Town. You will need 15 wood on day 1 for blacksmith (Dungeon), market (Inferno) and Tavern (Castle) and 10 more wood on day two... but you will start with 20 wood only so you must capture sawmill at day two (there's always pile of wood lying near sawmill). So did I, and also I used weak Inferno troops to take ore pit near Inferno town, because we will need ore too.
The main problem with this map is that there are very strong monsters and almost no resource piles at all. Sawmill guarded by 20-49 zealots are nothing special here, so you will basically slay strong monsters using magic with your 12th lvl heroes. Also DON'T waste mana points for 1st level monsters as your troglodytes and harpies will take care of them. Your next objectives are to take Sulfur Dunes (you will need a lot for dragons) and to capture Dragon Cavern (its south-east in underground). If you have implosion, chain lighting or meteor shower spell then you should handle those 3 red dragons before 2nd week. You will need a MASS of dragons. Hire one hero (or use one that you already have) and let him stay in flagged dragon cave and recruit red dragon every week.
After first hard days (remember about spell points - residing 1 day in a town with magic guild will replenish 100% of your spellpoints) you should put one hero (weaker one) on north to take Rampart town. There is random relic artifact in north-east corner of map guarded by 7lvl monster, if its everything but black dragon then attack it with spells. If you need mana, there is well near Rampart town, use that. Stronger hero should wander to west from Inferno city to take another Sawmill and another Castle town. Make sure that you have marketplace in all of your towns and trade resorces for sulfury, and buy dragon cave before week 4. You will have a problem if you wont manage to build it before week 4.
Using moderate army (1th, 2nd and 3rd lvl critters from Inferno town) and capture two more Red castles, one is north-west and one is on south-west. After that just control map, don't let enemy to take your towns and gather army from fully built dungeon town. If you have town portal and advanced earth magic then you wont have trouble with defending cities. Just control the map and gather army.
On month 3 week 2 take all of dungeon army and all of your heroes behind anti-magic garrison. If you have fly or dimension door spells then you wont have to fight with garrison guards, but they are not a much problem (only cavariers). You should take every hero that know good spells, give him some shit army and attack Gen.Kendall (enemy hero) just with spells to make him some loses before your main army attacks. As in movie, I have made that with one hero (i have recruited Castle army), and I managed to cast 5x implosion before he grounded me, which is almost 6000 points of damage. After you have wasted all noob-spell-heroes, attack him with your main army, he should not make a problem for you.
If you have build dragon cavern and castle on 3rd week and captured dragon cave in underground in first week, and recruiting all dragons from cavern EVERY week then you will end with about 25-35 black dragons on final battle. If you have armageddon spell, then you basically won it, just defend with black dragons and cast armageddon till everything dies.
This mission is not that hard, but not easy too. All you have is to build castle, dragon cave and get as much dragons as possible (along with other dungeon army). Remember that spells are your best friends here.
