Totem Pole Journey
The mining, transport and burning of coal and oil threaten the lands, waters, resources and human health of all of us who live in the Northwest, but none more so than the indigenous people who sit right in the path of destruction. The proposed Cherry Point coal terminal, would sit right on the ancestral lands of the Lummi Nation known as Xwe’chi’eXen. The mining of that coal would also destroy Northern Cheyenne lands in Montana, and all along the way fossil fuel transport would harm the fishing and treaty rights of Native Americans. This is only one of several ill-conceived coal and oil shipment proposals for our region. In protest to these dirty and dangerous proposals members of the Lummi Community will embark on a journey, Our Shared Responsibility-the Land, the Waters, the People, to empower and inform communities all along the rail line, and bring a new level of understanding and engagement to successfully oppose the proposed shipment of an unprecedented volume of coal and oil from the American heartland to the Pacific Coast. A totem pole, created by the Lummi Nation House of Tears carvers and one of the oldest forms of North American storytelling, will join the journey to remind us of our place within nature, our responsibility to future generations, and our connections to each other and to our communities. At the ceremony, the totem pole will be blessed by tribal elders, by community leaders and YOU! The Lummi ask for blessing and protection of sacred lands and treaty rights, including their own ancestral village and treaty fishing waters at Cherry Point, WA. In the testimony of Master Carver Jewell James, the totem itself is not sacred -- it is only when it is touched and shared by many communities standing together that the totem becomes a lasting part of our memories and a symbol of our resistance. So please join us in this unique, indigenous event and let the Lummi community know that we stand with them in the fight against fossil fuels and we share the responsibility to protect the land, the waters, and the peoples of the Northwest. From the Alaska Experience Travel Guide to Alaska; http://www.videosource.com for stock footage and complete Alaska Travel Guide info Transcript: The town of Ketchican is the first in a string of alaskan communities accesible only by sea or air. although ketchican almost never sees snow or ice, It is one of the rainiest places in north america, Averaging some 154 inches of rain per year. despite the rain, Ketchikan is a popular vacation spot, due in part to its outstanding sportfishing and its close proximity to the lower 48. Years before the present town was here, this was a Fishing camp for Haida and Tlingit indians who left a visible legacy of their proud culture. These mysterious and awe inspiring totem poles combining both human and animal forms, are genealogies; Stories of family deeds -- a symbolic record of a non-literate people, they demonstrate the indian belief that man Is involved in a deep kinship with nature. the totemic animals -- the raven , the bear, the Shark, the wolf, and the eagle , are not just animals But true relatives on this earth" Nathan Jackson totem pole carver

American Bald Eagles/Totem Poles
The American bald eagle is the national bird of the United States and it's also the national symbol of America. About half of the world's 70,000 bald eagles live in Alaska, due in large part to the abundance of salmon. You can see eagles at 0:17 and 0:25 but the best closeup starts at the 0:55 mark. You can also see some reindeer at 0:43 and we hear about the making of totem poles at 1:30.
Fisherfriend of the Isles - Is it Worth it? 7.3 Fishing Factions
Fisherfriend of the Isles is a new Fishing Achievement added to WoW in World of Warcraft Patch 7.3, along with six new Fishing Factions to reach best Friend with! New to WoW in 7.3, there are six Fishing Masters of the Broken Isles to catch special fish for, earn rep with (by turning in the special fish) and buy unique cosmetic fishing items from. Buddy up with Ilyssia of the Waters in Azsuna, Akule Riverhorn, Sha'leth, Corbyn, Impus and Keeper Raynae to earn the Fisherfriend of the Isles and your Underlight Emerald, unlocking two new color variants of your Underlight Angler! You do not need any particular fishing skill to catch fish for any of the Fisherfriend Fishing Masters on the Broken Isles. There is only one Fisherfriend up on any given day, and they are on a set rotation. That rotation goes Sha'leth - Impus - Ilyssia of the Waters - Keeper Raynae - Akule Riverhorn - Corbyn, then repeats. If you're after fishing skillups, fish at Sha'leth when she's up! Rather than a boss to kill, you can summon an NPC dropping many Golden Minnows similar to the murloc item you fish in Suramar. You need Best Friend reputation to get the Bobber from each fishing master, but other items may be purchased at Good Friend. Reptuation and items can all be had in exchange for the special fish you can fish right by the fishing master. The bobbers cost 100 special fish each, a special fish can be turned in for 75 rep and the extra items (toys, pet, shirt) sell for 50 special fish. Sha'leth is in Suramar at 50, 49. She wants Golden Minnows and will sell you a Replica Gondola bobber. Impus is on the Broken Shore at 33, 50 and offers a Desecrated Seaweed Shirt and Demon Noggin bobber in exchange for Desecrated Seaweed. Corbyn is in Stormheim at 99, 10. For Shiny Baubles he offers the Carved Wooden Helm bobber and Corbyn's Beacon toy. Ilyssia is in Azsuna at 43,40. For Fragmented Enchantment she'll sell the Enchanted Bobber and Ghost Shark battle pet. Keeper Raynae is in Val'sharah at 53,72. She offers the Feast of Fishes recipe (not good buff food not needed for raiding) and the Face of the Forest treant head bobber for Corrupted Globules. Akule Riverhorn is at Highmountain at 32,40. For Ancient Totem Fragments he'll sell you a Trawler Totem toy and Floating Totem bobber. Kitsumkalum Totem Pole Raising August 4 1987 The community came together united as one people. Historically to raise the Robin People Gilla Qwaa Story Totem Poles. This footage has never been shared since year August 4 1987. Robin People is a story located IR1 special protected heritage site near Kitsumkalum Indian Band. The heritage site is special because, of its historical story. The story is about Supernatural Beings helping a man name Nisgeel a Simioget Hereditary Chief. Who discovered the Robin People. Who showed him how to trap salmon with woven fish traps. Teaching him about the land, for future generations. According to Simioget Hereditary Chief Nisgeel the legend. He said one day the Robin People disapeered. He walked around the village, not one man, woman, child left. Just remaining Robin Feathers on the ground inside the building. Simioget Hereditary Chief Nisgeel learned they were not humans. These were supernatural people. They became Robins. The Robin birds. This was the legend of Robin People. Archived in our Totem Poles. Simioget Nesgeel Hereditary Chief record 19th century. Xpilaxha's story about the origin of Robin Town tells how the Robin People gave Nisgeel and his people that knowledge. The Robin People taught Nisgeel how to build fish traps at Kitsumkalum Canyon. The townspeople used that knowledge to construct fish traps, probably at the entrance to the canyon, and a series of fishing stations for dip netting Very sacred. This our Kitsumkalum Adawk, our identity to the land, natural world & supernatural. http://www.livinglandscapes.bc.ca/northwest/robin_town/canyon.html Enjoy, MM

Tribe Travels 4,800 Miles With 22-ft Totem Pole
(26 Aug 2016) A Pacific Northwest tribe has begun a 4,800-mile road trip with a 22-foot-tall totem pole in tow. The Lummi Nation embarked on its fourth "totem journey" since 2012 to galvanize opposition to coal and crude oil projects it says could imperil native lands. The tribe took a similar totem trip last year to raise awareness about a massive coal export terminal being proposed in their ancestral homeland in northwest Washington state. The US Army Corps of Engineers denied a permit for the Cherry Point project earlier this year over concerns it would impact the Lummi Nation's treaty-protected fishing rights. This year, the focus is on the Millennium coal export terminal proposed for Longview, Washington along the Columbia River. It would be the largest such terminal in the US. Totem Pole - 30' Aluminum Tour Boat
Totem Pole, a 30 foot 31 passenger vessel, was designed to operate west of the dam in Waltham, MA and run west on the Charles River. Along with a drop down bow door for easy of loading, she has a hydraulically operated aluminum canopy which reduces air draft to 5 feet. She has an easily driven displacement hull designed by Parker Marean III. She has a 25 HP Honda outboard, and a 30 HP Honda, essentially the same as the 25 HP but with an upgraded HP rating. She has been inspected and is certifiable by the USCG for 31 passengers which can go into effect as soon as she is in waters under U.S. Coast Guard jurisdiction. The boat is useful not only for carrying passengers but for carrying cargo which it has often done.

Ketchikan Alaska: The Totem and Salmon Capital
We finally went on an Alaskan cruise and the final stop on our cruise was Ketchikan. We had a fun time exploring the city. It's known as the Salmon Capital of the World and as a city with tons of totem poles. We checked out Creek Street, The Totem Heritage Center, and the Salmon ladder. Spacific Enigma Clip 03 - A BC Moment - Totem Poles
Have axe will travel. This was shot in Stanley Park with nary a tourist bus in sight, although a few joggers did come running once they heard the unmistakable sounds of splintering wood - a separate log propped up behind the pole - honest. No CGI here folks. Co-producer Terry Weaver did the dirty deed while brother Ed shot it in one take. Car was kept running. Since this date the Stanley Park totem pole exhibit has been entirely redesigned with a virtual moat now surrounding the display. Why, one wonders.
