Let’s start with my preconceptions: I expected Japan’s capital, and home to the world’s largest urban population to be over the top and really in your face, with neon lights and anime at every turn and i certainly wasn’t disappointed. The streets are lined with towering, multi-storey buildings, each filled with mind bending department stores and arcades, offices to some of the world’s biggest brands and restaurants serving the best food you’ll ever taste. But despite all the apparent madness and chaos, spend a few days in Tokyo and it just makes sense. Here, efficiency is an art form. Japanese attention to detail is legendary, and it runs through everything, from food to public transport and urban planning. And yes, even the toilets. This trip was an educational and weirdly enlightening experience. I’ve been lucky to visit a lot of amazing places making these videos, but Tokyo is in a league of its own. So Tokyo, it’s big, it’s busy and it’s brilliant. As ever, let’s start with the airports. Flying from the UK you’ll come into one of Tokyo’s two major international airports, Haneda or Narita. Of course, you don’t need me to tell you that Tokyo is a really long way away, direct flights from Europe will take a whopping 12 hours for the nine and a half thousand kilometre journey. So you’ve got Haneda airport which is roughly 13 miles south of the city, and then you’ve got 50 miles east. Fortunately, both are really easy to get to noisy noisy Tokyo. Here’s what you need to know. From Haneda you have three main options, the airport limousine bus, a taxi or the monorail. The airport limousine takes between 30 and 45 minutes, stopping at most major hotels in the centre of town, with prices increasing for the night service between midnight and 5am. A taxi should take about half and hour depending on traffic, with prices depending where you’re being dropped off. There’s also a 20% extra charge between 10pm and 5am. However the quickest option is the airport’s dedicated monorail. It’ll get you into Hamamatsucho station in 13 minutes and from here you can connect to the circular Yamanote metro line to reach other parts of the city. The metro runs between 9 and 7 on weekdays and then 9 to 5 on weekends and public holidays. That’s Haneda! Here’s what you need to know about Narita. Narita is a whopping 50 miles east of Tokyo, so all of your transport options are going to take a while. The Airport Limousine bus and taxis runs from Narita but both will take anywhere between 90 minutes to 2 hours to reach central Tokyo. Instead, take the JR Narita Express. It’ll whisk into town in a little under an hour, and with this being Japan, the trains are on time and super efficient. A word of warning about getting home; if you’re flight’s on a Sunday, make sure you check the train times because there’s a reduced service. Check your departure time, and then allow plenty of extra time to get to the airport.
Jetstar Airlines | Tokyo to Osaka | $90 Roundtrip | Is it worth it?

I flew on Jetstar Airlines from Tokyo to Osaka roundtrip for $90. Including train travel from Namba Station to Kansai Airport and bus travel from Narita Airport to Shibuya, I show you whether it's worth it to take the flight between Osaka and Tokyo or if it is better to take the Bullet Train aka Shinkansen instead. ----- Thanks for Watching ----- I hope you enjoyed the video. Round Trip Heart - Japan Cuts 2015

01:43
Round Trip Heart http://www.japansociety.org/event/round-trip-heart ロマンス (Romansu) Friday, July 10, 6:30 PM FEATURE SLATE NORTH AMERICAN PREMIERE Introduction and Q&A with director Yuki Tanada The limited express “Romancecar” railway service links Tokyo’s Shinjuku Station with tourist destinations such as Odawara, Enoshima, and Kamakura, every day carrying train attendant Hachiko Hojo back and forth (an excellent Yuko Oshima, in her first starring role since departing the idol group AKB48). In her mid-twenties, Hachiko excels in her job serving meals and refreshments onboard the train. However a comic encounter with a sleazy movie producer passenger (character actor Koji Okura in a winning lead role) brings her to rediscover not only the gorgeous Hakone of Kanagawa prefecture, but past memories that have been holding her back from following her own path. Directing her first original screenplay since the 2008 One Million Yen Girl, Yuki Tanada once again shows herself to be one of the most thrilling directors in Japan in this touching road movie. Japan. 2015. 97 min. DCP, in Japanese with English subtitles. Directed by Yuki Tanada. With Yuko Oshima, Koji Okura, Yoshimi Nozaki, Masataka Kubota. “With her films manifesting a unique wit and a genuine warmth and affection for her characters, [Tanada] is one of the most exciting arrivals on the scene” -Jasper Sharp, Midnight Eye Part of JAPAN CUTS 2015.

Narita Airport to Tokyo - Complete Japan Travel Guide

06:19
Here are tips to get to and from Narita Airport. I've lived in Japan for almost 15 years now and this advice is based on all my experiences. Hope this video helps. Check out more info at https://www.tokyozebra.com/ //Timelines// 0:12-Intro 0:13-1:07 Overview of transportation options to Narita Airport The options are... -Express Train - Narita Express and Keisei Skyliner -Local Bus -Bus - LCC and limousine -Taxi Basically LCC buses are the cheapest way to go, and express trains and limousine are about the same price. 1:08-1:28 Overview of express train -Narita Express is great for people staying in south west area including Shinjuku, Shibuya and Tokyo. -Keisei Skyliner is great for people staying in north east area including Ueno and Nippori. 1:29-2:52 How to ride the express train -From the Airport: When you arrive at Narita Airport, go to B1. You will find RED Narita Express ticket booth and machines on the right and BLUE Skyliner ticket booth and machines on the left. -To the Airport: N'EX - Go to your nearest JR station to buy ticket. You can buy tickets even though express train does not stop at your nearest station. Skyliner - Go to Nippori or Ueno to buy tickets. 2:52-4:05 Tips on express train Tip 1 - Arrive to the station 15-20 minutes early (on return) There is always a long line at the ticket booth and the platform to get on the train might be quite far from the gate so make sure to arrive early. Tip 2 - Use ticket machine when in hurry Usually you don't need to wait in line for ticket machines to buy a ticket and takes only about 5 minutes. Consider this as an option when you are in hurry. Tip 3 - Sit at the front of the car Luggage compartment is located at the front and the end of the each car of express train. People get stuck when getting the luggage upon arrivals. It is stressful to worry about if you can get out or not so it's good to sit at the front. (the end is ok too.) Note: About tickets when you buy tickets by credit card, you will receive 3 tickets - an express train ticket, receipt, and credit card receipt. You need to show only the train ticket to the train attendant. CORRECTION: X 4 ticket → ◉ 3 tickets (I was with my gf so we had 4 tickets.) 4:05 - 5:22 Bus - LCC (Tokyo Shuttle and Access Narita) can take you to/from Tokyo and Ginza Station. - Limousine Bus runs to/from major hotels. 5:23 - 6:05 How to take the bus -Limousine Bus and Tokyo Shuttle - At Narita Airport on the first floor, you can find ticket machines and man booth. -Access Narita - All you need to do is go to the train stop and pay on the bus. No reservation needed. Hakone Travel Guide: Day Trip from Tokyo using the Hakone Free Pass | The Travel Intern

01:30
Check out our Hakone Travel Guide: https://thetravelintern.com/hakone-day-trip-from-tokyo-hakone-free-pass/ Being in Hakone felt a lot like exploring Disneyland; think pirate ships, old trains that climb mountains and cable ropeways that hover over misty volcanic valleys. The diversity of landscape almost felt almost as though everything was carefully planned and sectioned out into the different worlds like in Disneyland. Hakone to many locals is also a favourite weekend getaway; an onsen town with great views of Mount Fuji as well as old hiking paths with lined with 400 year old cedar trees. If that sounds like your kind of getaway — even if it’s just a quick detour from Tokyo — here’s our guide to a fuss-free day trip in Hakone. Get your Hakone Free Pass: http://bit.ly/2wwhxF8 0:14 - Hakone Jinjo Shrine 0:19 - Hakone Shrine & Torri of Peace One of the most iconic symbols of Hakone is the grand Torii gate that sits on the edge of Lake Ashinoko. Probably more famous than the shrine itself as it takes a bit of climbing to get to. 0:23 - Hakone Tozan Bus 0:26 - hakone Checkpoint 0:35 - Ancient Cedar Avenue One of the best preserved parts of old Hakone. A 500m path lined with tall cedar trees used during the Edo period where travellers mainly walked on foot between Tokyo and Kyoto. 0:45 - Hakone Sightseeing Cruise 0:49 - Lake Ashinoko Heart of Hakone and one of the 5 famous lakes in the Fuji-izu region. You might even see Mount Fuji on a clear day. 0:54 - Hakone Ropeway Scenic ropeway towards Owakudani 1:00 - Owakudani Also known as the Valley of Hell with the volcanic gasses and ponds created during the eruption of Mount Hakone. 1:13 - Hakone Tozan Cable Car 1:18 - Odawara Castle 15th century castle — a famous spot for its cherry blossoms in late March to April. Hi everyone! Today we took a day trip to Nikko! Nikko is a world heritage site, famous for a number of shrines dedicated to the famous shogun leader, Tokugawa Ieyasu and his grandson. There's also a beautiful lake nearby with a waterfall, mountain views and more temples as well as the old Imperial Villa where the imperial family would spend the hot Japanese summers until the mid 1900s. JAPAN: 1 DAY IN HAKONE - TRIP & ITINERARY

07:54
MT. FUJI || LAKE ASHI || HOT SPRINGS/ONSEN || RYOKAN Unlike Tokyo, Hakone is quiet and far from the hustle and bustle of the city. Hakone is known for its beautiful scenery, natural hot springs (onsen), and soba noodles. We took the Romancecar from Shinjuku to Hakone-Yumoto which took 85 mins. Once there, we had a quick lunch in Gora, then took the cable car to Souzan station, and the ropeway to reach Owakudani. Owakudani is a volcanic valley with active sulfur. This is where Hakone got its source of natural hot spring - which has many benefits. Hakone is very popular during the winter as people fill up the onsen to relax and soak in. You will also get a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji in Owakudani. Feel even closer to Mt. Fuji during the ropeway ride to Togendai- where we took the cruise across lake Ashi. We wanted to visit the Hakone Checkpoint and the Hakone Shrine but we got lost and we needed to eat. FYI all restaurants close at 5pm here so don't forget to grab a bite before then. We then made our way to our ryokan at Mount View Hakone. Love this place! Accommodation is around $300/night but this is the average ryokan price in Hakone. There are cheaper ones of course, with smaller/shared rooms and shared toilet which we didn't want. Our room was very big (in comparison to Japanese standard), and we can book a private onsen- which we love! We had the private onsen at night after a day of non-stop activity. It was heavenly! JAPAN TRIP - Asakusa, Tokyo 【HD】

03:42
Asakusa is a district in Taitō, Tokyo, Japan, most famous for the Sensō-ji, a Buddhist temple dedicated to the bodhisattva Kannon. There are several more temples in Asakusa, as well as various festivals. Asakusa is the terminus of the Metro Ginza line (G19), which is the best way to get into the area, perhaps by connecting from the Yamanote line at Ueno. Other options are to take the eponymous Toei Asakusa line(A18), which carves a path through eastern and southern Tokyo, or by taking the Toei Oedo Line to the Kuramae Station(E11), or by using the Tobu-Isesaki Line. Cab Station Ltd's Super Shuttle bus service runs four daily round-trips between Narita Airport and Asakusa for ¥1000. Buses pick up/discharge near the Toei Asakusa subway and the Tsukuba Express line. Cruises down the Sumidagawa river depart from a wharf only 5-minute walk from the temple, by the Azuma-bashi bridge. There are a number of boat routes available, so have a look at the map and then decide which one to pick. ANA Boeing 767-300 Roundtrip Tokyo to Taipei Economy Class

06:14
http://www.TravelsWithSheila.com Flight attendants on ANA Airlines can't do enough for you, even if flying in Economy. The last thing we wanted to do was eat after flying from Chicago to San Francisco, San Francisco to Tokyo and now onwards to Taipei and the attendant kept trying, "Would you like just the appetizer? Would you like just the salad? Would you like desert? " All we wanted to do was sleep! The return flight was a different story and I actually was able to pay attention to four menu offerings, and a camera mounted under the fuselage for passengers to watch take-off, a birds-eye view of the ground, and landing; a definite eye-opener. What an excellent airline!
