Boost Your Leadership with These Six Principles

04:49
Please watch: "Is this God Speaking to Me or Are These Just My Own Thoughts or is this the Devil?" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLNTWApmV1k --~-- Boost Your Leadership with These Six Principles QUESTION: What are the qualities that separate leaders from great leaders? Today I want to show you how to maximize your leadership potential. Many of us find ourselves in leadership positions even if we don’t want to be, whether it may be at work, our own business, at church or at home. I’ve been blessed to be around some amazing leaders. And so today I want to point out 6 qualities from the life of Jesus that every great leader I know possesses and the first is… 1. Leaders possess…PASSION a. Jesus was passionate about what He was leading. One time He even went into the temple and flipped over all of the tables (Mt. 21:12) b. A great leader exhibits passion. One of the reasons why the morale on certain teams is low is because the morale of the leader is low. c. If you want to maximize your leadership potential be sure you are passionate about what you’re leading and that you communicate that passion to your team. 2. Leaders win with…PEOPLE a. Every great leader knows how to win with people. b. Communication i. Clear – People on your team should not have to ask you questions about things that should have been communicated to them. ii. Consistent – For a leader there is no such thing as too much communication. People would rather hear from you too much than not at all. Over-communication is a leader’s best friend. iii. Compelling – Does it call people to action? iv. Charismatic – “Spoke as one having authority” There was something about the way Jesus spoke that crowds gathered around Him. Great leaders are often great speakers. c. Motivation – This involves getting the best out of people and making them feel important to where they want to do what they can to help you. d. Delegation – A leader understands the principle of multiplication and making others feel empowered to carry out your vision. 3. Leaders see…POSSIBILITIES a. In other words great leaders aren’t afraid to take risks to do what’s never been done before. b. Jesus was attempting to do something that had never been done in the history of time which was to unite Jews and Gentiles together. That was a risk… c. But in order to be a risk taker you must first overcome your fear of failure. 4. Leaders solve…PROBLEMS a. Every great leader is able to not only solve problems but they have the discernment to foresee and plan for them before they come. b. Jesus foresaw the problem of sin and executed a plan to solve it by dying on the cross for our sins. 5. Leaders exhibit…PERSEVERANCE a. Jesus was on a mission to fulfill His divine purpose of dying on the cross. He didn’t allow opposition to deter him from his mission. b. Anything you attempt to do for God or just in general you will encounter opposition. Great leaders may get discouraged but not deterred. 6. Leaders demonstrate…PROGRESS – Lk. 2:52 – The Bible says even Jesus grew in wisdom… a. A great leader recognizes that they must always be progressing to stay ahead of the people they lead. This means that a leader is always a reader and a leader is always a learner. b. See 1 Tim. 4:12 So I pray that you would use this as a checklist to grade your leadership as you strive to maximize your leadership capacity. Are you looking for a job? If you're watching this video, you're part of a small percentage of people that care about the values and principles of their employer; this is a well known success factor in employee performance and tenure. However, you're competing with many others that apply in bulk for the same position; so how do you capitalize on your time investment? Be proactive! when applying And during interviews, be sure to let recruiters and hiring managers know that you watched this! --- 1. Customer obsession: start with the customer and work backwards; work vigorously to earn and keep customer trust; pay attention to competitors, but keep obsessing over customers 2. Ownership: think like an owner, long term and don’t sacrifice long-term value for short-term results; act on behalf of the entire company, not just for your own team; never say “that’s not my job" 3. Invent and simplify: expect and require innovation and invention from your team and always find ways to simplify; be externally aware, always look for new ideas from everywhere, and don’t be limited by “not invented here" 4. Leaders are right a lot 1:52 : you have strong judgment and good instincts; you seek diverse perspectives and work to disconfirm your beliefs 5. Frugality 3:50 : accomplish more with less. Constraints breed resourcefulness, self-sufficiency and invention. There are no extra points for growing headcount, budget size or fixed expense 6. Hire and develop the best 5:01 : raise the performance bar with every hire and promotion; recognize exceptional talent, and willingly move them throughout the organization; develop leaders and take seriously your role in coaching others 7. Earn trust 5:05 : listen attentively, speak candidly, and treat others respectfully. Be vocally self-critical, even when doing so is awkward or embarrassing; leaders do not believe their or their team’s body odor smells of perfume; benchmark yourself and your team against the best. 8. Insist on the highest standards 7:42 : you have relentlessly high standards - many may think these standards are unreasonably high; you are continually raising the bar and driving your team to deliver high quality products, services and processes; defects do not get sent down the line and problems are fixed so they stay fixed 9. Bias for action 11:34 : speed matters in business. Many decisions and actions are reversible and do not need extensive study. We value calculated risk taking. 10. Learn and be curious 11:34 : you are never done learning and you always seek to improve; you are curious about new possibilities and act to explore them 11. Have backbone. Disagree and commit 13:26 : respectfully challenge decisions when you disagree, even when doing so is uncomfortable or exhausting; have conviction and be tenacious; do not compromise for the sake of social cohesion; once a decision is determined, commit to it. 12. Dive deep 13:26 : operate at all levels, stay connected to the details, audit frequently, and be skeptical when metrics and anecdote differ. No task is beneath you. 13. Think big 16:04 : thinking small is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Create and communicate a bold direction that inspires results. Think differently and look around corners for ways to serve customers. 14. Deliver results 16:04 : focus on the key inputs for your business and deliver with the right quality and in a timely fashion; despite setbacks, rise to the occasion and never settle

Success in Leadership and Life: A Function of Principles

52:40
“To be principled means to consistently operate with principles that can be clearly explained,” writes Ray Dalio, founder of Bridgewater Associates and one of the world’s most successful investors and entrepreneurs. Dalio has written and shared the principles that guide him in life and business in his best-selling book, Principles: Life & Work, in hopes that others will do the same. He believes that writing down your principles helps you clarify them, builds trust, lets others know what you stand for, increases effectiveness, and reduces duality. He attributes his own achievements to his principles, which allowed him to build a unique culture of “radical truth and radical transparency” and which he also recently shared in a 30 minute animation called Principles for Success. The Principles Of Spiritual Leadership with | Myles Munroe

01:41:52
You were born to lead. Now it's time to become a leader. Leaders may be found in boardrooms, but they may also be found in families, schools, and organizations of all kinds—anywhere people interact, nurture, create, or build. Contrary to popular opinion, leadership is not meant for an elite group of people who, by fate or accident, become leaders while everyone else is consigned to being a lifelong follower.

Leadership Training Fundamentals with Navy SEAL Jocko Willink: Service Drive Revolution #6

45:18
The fundamental principles for leadership don’t change, whether you’re on the battlefield or in business... even if you’re running an 8 year old girls soccer team, those fundamentals don’t change. In this special episode, co-author of Extreme Ownership, former Navy SEAL trainer and commander, Jocko Willink joins Top Automotive Service Trainers, Chris Collins and Gary Daniel to talk about leadership training and performing at peak levels even when the chaos is high. Come see Jocko in person at the Annual Top Dog Event: http://www.topdogevent.com While the fundamentals don’t change, the techniques and tools you use will. As owner of business consulting and training firm, Echelon Front, Jocko talks about what you have to do as an individual to be able to detach from the day to day chaos of business and the battlefield. It’s about being able to step back, and say “okay, here’s what’s happening.” To look at things as they actually are, and make decisions based on what’s really happening, not on emotions and chaos. Customer Obsession Leaders start with the customer and work backwards. They work vigorously to earn and keep customer trust. Although leaders pay attention to competitors, they obsess over customers. Ownership Leaders are owners. They think long term and don’t sacrifice long-term value for short-term results. They act on behalf of the entire company, beyond just their own team. They never say “that’s not my job". Invent and Simplify Leaders expect and require innovation and invention from their teams and always find ways to simplify. They are externally aware, look for new ideas from everywhere, and are not limited by “not invented here". As we do new things, we accept that we may be misunderstood for long periods of time. Are Right, A Lot Leaders are right a lot. They have strong judgment and good instincts. They seek diverse perspectives and work to disconfirm their beliefs. Learn and Be Curious Leaders are never done learning and always seek to improve themselves. They are curious about new possibilities and act to explore them. Hire and Develop the Best Leaders raise the performance bar with every hire and promotion. They recognize exceptional talent, and willingly move them throughout the organization. Leaders develop leaders and take seriously their role in coaching others. We work on behalf of our people to invent mechanisms for development like Career Choice. Insist on the Highest Standards Leaders have relentlessly high standards - many people may think these standards are unreasonably high. Leaders are continually raising the bar and drive their teams to deliver high quality products, services and processes. Leaders ensure that defects do not get sent down the line and that problems are fixed so they stay fixed. Think Big Thinking small is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Leaders create and communicate a bold direction that inspires results. They think differently and look around corners for ways to serve customers. Bias for Action Speed matters in business. Dive Deep Leaders operate at all levels, stay connected to the details, audit frequently, and are skeptical when metrics and anecdote differ. No task is beneath them. Have Backbone; Disagree and Commit Leaders are obligated to respectfully challenge decisions when they disagree, even when doing so is uncomfortable or exhausting. Leaders have conviction and are tenacious. They do not compromise for the sake of social cohesion. Once a decision is determined, they commit wholly. Deliver Results Leaders focus on the key inputs for their business and deliver them with the right quality and in a timely fashion. Despite setbacks, they rise to the occasion and never settle. SEVEN LEADERSHIP PRINCIPLES TO LEARN FROM AN EAGLE

03:37
1. *Eagles fly Alone and at High Altitudes.* They don't fly with sparrows, ravens, and other small birds. MEANING; Stay away from narrow-minded people, those that bring you down. Eagle flies with Eagles. Keep good company. 2. *Eagles have an Accurate Vision.* They have the ability to focus on something as far as 5km away. No matter the obstacles, the eagle will not move his focus from the prey until he grabs it. MEANING; Have a vision and remain focused no matter what the obstacles and you will succeed. 3. *Eagles do not Eat Dead things. They Feed only on Fresh Prey.* MEANING; Do not rely on your past success, keep looking for new frontiers to conquer. Leave your past where it belongs, in the past. 4. *Eagles Love the Storm.* When clouds gather, the eagle gets excited, the eagle uses the storms wind to lift itself higher. Once it finds the wind of the storm, the eagle uses the raging storm to lift itself above the clouds. This gives the eagle an opportunity to glide and rest its wings. In the meantime, all the other birds hide in the branches and leaves of the tree. MEANING; Face your challenges head on knowing that these will make you emerge stronger and better than you were. We can use the storms of life to rise to greater heights. Achievers are not afraid to rise to greater heights. Achievers are not afraid of challenges, rather they relish them and use them profitably. 5. *When a Female Eagle Meets a Male Eagle* and they want to mate, she flies down to earth, picks a twig and flies back into the air with the male eagle in hot pursuit. Once she has reached a height high enough for her, she drops the twig and let it fall to the ground while she watches. The male eagle chases after the twig and catches it before it reached the ground, then bring it back to the female eagle. The female eagle grabs the twig and flies to a much higher altitude and drop the twig again for the male eagle to chase. This goes on for hours with the height increasing each time until the female eagle is assured that the male eagle has mastered the art of picking the twig which shows commitment. Then and only then will she allow him to mate with her. MEANING; Whether in private life or business, one should test the commitment of the people intended for partnership. 6. *Eagles Prepare for Training;* They remove the feathers and soft grass in the nest so that the young ones get uncomfortable in preparation for flying and eventually flies when it becomes unbearable to stay in the nest. MEANING; *Leave your Comfort Zone, there is No Growth There.* 7. *When the Eagle Grows Old,* His feathers becomes weak and cannot take him as fast and as high as it should. This makes him weak and could make him die. So he retires to a place far away in the mountains. While there, he plucks out the weak feathers on his body and breaks its beaks and claws against the rocks until he is completely bare; a very bloody and painful process. Then he stays in this hiding place until he has grown new feathers, new beaks and claws and then he comes out flying higher than before. MEANING; We occasionally need to shed off old habit no matter how difficult, things that burden us or add no value to our lives should be let go of. *YES, NEVER GIVE UP,* *BE AN EAGLE, NEVER EVER GIVE UP !!!* Do you want to be a Mind Warrior? Sunday Inspiration: The Top Ten Leadership Principles of Jesus

03:16
This past week while using my Kindle Fire to pray through my long prayer list, I came across "The Top Ten Leadership Principles of Jesus." This comes from page 1211 of the Maxwell Leadership Bible in which Dr. John Maxwell discuss the significance of Mark 8:34-38. I felt compelled to share this with you. Enjoy! The Gospels demonstrate beyond all doubt that Jesus really is the Ultimate Leader. No one has influenced people more than He. Although He never wrote a book or taught in a seminary, His movement continues to grow over two thousand years after He departed the earth. Consider ten leadership principles we see in His life, as recorded in the four Gospels.
