This PowerPoint presentation was for a class project. I do not own the song by Steppen Wolf nor the videos or images in the presentation. I created this video in Adobe Premiere Pro (CS5). This video is mainly to show my PowerPoint skills as well as, I guess, a tad of my Adobe Premiere Pro skills. When I saved this as a video project in PowerPoint, the song "Born to Be Wild" and the second video in the presentation did not load. I had to place them in using Adobe Premiere Pro. I designed and created this PowerPoint presentation for my 2012 "Principles of Management" class. Two other students and I worked on this project doing research for our articles and, one of the students and I looked for images and we each found one of the two videos in the presentation. I solely came up with the design and layout of the PowerPoint presentation as well as our report. I added transitions, the videos and images. I Photoshopped a couple of the motorcycle images to remove their backgrounds. I designed the report to match the PowerPoint presentation. There are a few samples of the report at the end of the video.

Yeah that’s operations. No Well, the difference between a project and operations is fairly simple. A project ends. So, it’s temporary. You implement your project, you close it, you create a unique product/service/ or whatever outcome you wanted then you are done. Whereas in operations, it’s on-going and repetitive. You may have also heard about the terms program and portfolio. Let me just quickly explain them here. Program is multiple projects put together. Combined. And Portfolio is similarly. Multiple programs put together. So, it’s project, program, portfolio. Now before I go further, and dive deep. You need to understand something crucial. To run any project, you need 2 methodologies. The first one is a project life cycle and the second one is project management process. Most people confuse these 2. And if these are not clear, you can kiss the PMP certification goodbye. It’s absolutely amazing how many content creators in YouTube confuse these two. They are not interchangeable. You cannot afford to confuse a project life cycle with a project management process. Don’t worry I am going to make it very simple for you. Let’s start with Project Life Cycle. Project Life Cycle is unique to a project, to an industry, to your needs. It’s highly customizable. Think of it like this; a human development is a project. So, your life cycle is; 1) Conceiving 2) Birth 3) Childhood 4) Teenage hood. Teenage hood. Is that a word? Teenaging? 5) Adulthood 6) And death Easy stuff right? So, now if it was an IT project. Specifically, the proven benefits are diverse. First, Lean Six Sigma achieves faster processes by removing all forms of non-value added work according to the seven types of waste. Secondly, Lean Six Sigma aims to realize higher quality in terms of process stability and capability through the reduction of variation and the elimination of defects. Since the methodology involves a strong focus on customer needs and requirements, another significant benefit of using the tools and concepts of Lean Six Sigma is an increase in customer satisfaction. But the primary desired benefit of all process improvement activities within the scope of Lean Six Sigma is a reduction in costs. By achieving streamlined processes that are completed faster and more efficiently, less resources are required, resulting in decreased costs. In addition, less variation and defects lead to less cost of poor quality. Cost of poor quality includes costs that arise due to the gap between the desired and actual product or service quality. On the other hand, Lean Six Sigma increases revenue by enabling an organization to do more with less. Finally, a major benefit of Lean Six Sigma is an increase in employee engagement and effectiveness. Lean Six Sigma not only reduces costs and increases revenue, it positively affects people by engaging them in improving the way they work. By involving employees in Lean Six Sigma projects, they gain a greater appreciation for the impact of the work they do on bottom-line business results, as well as an appreciation for how the work of other employees and departments also contribute to success. And once employees get comfortable with Lean Six Sigma skills learned through trainings or projects, they can proactively continue to improve their business processes based on a well-established methodology.
