Seabird song is from "Deltics" album. Deltics is the second studio album by Chris Rea, released in 1979. The title is a reference to the Deltic - class locomotives that were used on the UK East Coast rail network in the 1960s and 1970s. This 1979 release is the sophomore recording from Chris Rea, featuring 11 different tracks. Indeed, whatever happened to Benny Santini? The name that Magnet Records were considering using for their new solo signing but instead he went with his real name of Chris Rea, and Deltics was his second album after Whatever Happened to Benny Santini? and his first to reach the charts, althoug it didn't make much of an impact, only peaking at number 54 in the spring of 1979 -- not the best time for an introspective singer/songwriter to crash the charts. Named after the British Rail class 55 of diesel locomotive trains that were built in the early '60s and were just about to be withdrawn from service, Rea showed his interest in various forms of transport that would continue throughout his recording career. He took a leaf out of the Elton John songbook with the opening track "Twisted Wheel" which has a thumping piano running throughout and a melody not unlike Elton's song "Part Time Love." This style was continued on the song "Dance (Don't Think)" and the one single taken from Deltics, the track "Diamonds," but this was hardly surprising as the album was produced by Gus Dudgeon who had been influential in producing most of Elton John's albums to date. However, there was a variety on the album that showed great promise, from these uptempo numbers to the great atmospheric guitar work by Robert Ahwry on the title track and the ballads "She Gave It Away" and "The Things That Lovers Do." "Raincoat and a Rose" was obviously going to tug at the heartstrings with a string section during the intro and the chorus, and the song did turn out to be about forbidden love while the track "Cenotaph" was an interesting two-minute instrumental that led into the more rock-oriented "Letter from Amsterdam." Because Rea's career has lasted so long, still enjoying hit albums in the 21st century, his early work, which was not as commercially successful, is sometimes overlooked and Deltics is a prime example, a great album, hardly ever mentioned in discussions of Chris Rea's many recordings. ~ Sharon Mawer Personnel: Chris Rea - acoustic 12-string guitar, electric guitar, 6-string guitar, slide guitar, accordion, piano, synthesizer Robert Ahwai- guitar Eoghan O'Neill - bass Kevin Leach - keyboards Max Middleton - keyboards Dave Mattacks - drums Adrian Rea - drums Martin Ditcham - percussion Norman Nosebait - Drum Mick Hutchinson - Bass Graham Watson - Organ Album produced by Gus Dudgeon, engineered by Stuart Epps, mastered by Gordon Vicary at Utopia. Seabird song, acoustic guitar Kevin Peak, strings arrangement Bruce Baxter. Lyrics: I can't run In your eyes there's no place left to hide You've seen my every mystery just show itself and die So I will fly before you And all is all to see Take my hand, understand, there're no more foolish dreams So many things we just can't share Are standing in between So I will fly before you And all is all to see I will always want you near in the shallow lights of day No-one else will share my nights is all that I can say And I will always want you But I will always fly like a seabird And I will always love you But I will always fly... This video has been published with absolute respect and admiration to Chris Rea's music ! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Chris-Rea/e/B000APXKXO/works/ref=ntt_mus_teaser?

Can't believe this song is nearly thirty years old from 'Deltics' album 1979. A break in the weather gave the chance to catch some 'seabirds' at half speed. www.undergroundworldnews.com The mass of dead seabirds that have washed up on Alaska beaches in past months is unprecedented in size, scope and duration, a federal biologist said at an Anchorage science conference. The staggering die-off of common murres, the iconic Pacific seabirds sometimes likened to flying penguins, is a signal that something is awry in the Gulf of Alaska, said Heather Renner, supervisory wildlife biologist at the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge. “We are in the midst of perhaps the largest murre die-off ever recorded,” Renner told the Alaska Marine Science Symposium on Thursday. While there have been big die-offs of murres and other seabirds in the past, recorded since the 1800s, this one dwarfs most of them, Renner said. “This event is almost certainly larger than the murres killed in the Exxon Valdez oil spill,” she said. After that spill -- at the time, the nation's largest -- about 22,000 dead murres were recovered by crews conducting extensive beach searches in the four months after the tanker grounding, according to the Exxon Valdez Trustee Council, the federal-state panel that administers funds paid to settle spill-related claims for natural-resource damages. Now, hundreds and thousands of dead murres are turning up on a wide variety of Alaska beaches, including nearly 8,000 discovered this month on a mile-long stretch in Whittier, she said. A preliminary survey in Prince William Sound has already turned up more than 22,000 dead murres there, she said. Starving, dying and dead murres are showing up far from their marine habitat, in inland places as distant as Fairbanks, hundreds of miles from the Gulf of Alaska coast, making the die-off exceptionally large in geographic scale. On Thursday, The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reported that the world’s oldest known seabird has a new chick. The Laysan albatross is at least 66 years old and is the world's oldest breeding bird in the wild. Named Wisdom, her offspring hatched at Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge last week. Fish and Wildlife Service project leader Bob Peyton says Wisdom has returned to Midway for over six decades and has raised at least 30 chicks. Midway Atoll is home to the world's largest colony of albatross. http://hosted2.ap.org/APDEFAULT/386c25518f464186bf7a2ac026580ce7/Article_2017-02-16-US--Oldest%20Seabird/id-89653aab6deb4214b29a058e06c6f785 http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com

The phase II works of Seabird naval base project will commence next year and is expected to be completed by 2022, said Rear Admiral R K Nadkarni, Flag Officer Commanding, Karnataka Naval Area. He told this to reporters on the sidelines of his visit to INS Makara, a survey vessel anchored at the naval base here on Friday. The Centre has given its approval for the phase II. The implementation of the proposed project will create more jobs for the locals and augment infrastructure in Karwar and surrounding areas, the rear admiral said. Under the proposed expansion plans, a 3,000 feet long runway will be built. If the Centre and the State send request to the Indian Navy seeking to utilise the runway for civil aviation aircraft, the runway length will be increase to 6,000 feet, the naval officer said. Once the works on phase II is completed, the Seabird Naval Base will join a league of largest naval bases in the world, he said adding that post completion as many as 30 warships can be anchored at the base and it would have a hanger to hold as many military aircraft. Usedom is the second largest island in Germany, the largest is Rügen. Major parts of it indeed belong to the federal German subdivision Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. A minor part in the East belongs to Poland. Usedom is charachterized by having the highest amount of sun hours per year compared to other German regions or areas of the Baltic Sea. This is why already beginnig with around 1850 and the creation of seaside resorts, the island until today stepwise developed into an attractive destination for tourists. Usedom has a diversity of landscapes, especially several lakes and swamp lands are important refuges for birds and aquatic organisms and thus represnt nature protection reservations. My video was filmed in high frame sequences, optimal to produce slow motion scenes. Most footage in the film thus is presented in slow motion (4 x). Purpose was to capture impressions of one specific time in the summer evening, the hour before the sunset ends, also called golden hour. These especially beautiful light conditions create atmospheric pictures. Main focus are simple bird behaviors of gulls and ducks. As in most bird species the hygienic behavior (cleaning behavior) is of regular importance to get rid of feather parasites, such as specific insects and mites. A sponge might not look like much, but these simple animals with no brain or ability to move have lived on Earth for hundreds of millions of years. They can hunt prey and spawn, and Jonathan demonstrates how in this fascinating segment about the biology of sponges! ********************************************************************** If you like Jonathan Bird's Blue World, don't forget to subscribe! You can buy some Blue World T-shirts & Swag! http://www.blueworldtv.com/shop You can join us on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/BlueWorldTV Twitter https://twitter.com/BlueWorld_TV Instagram @blueworldtv Web: http://www.blueworldTV.com ********************************************************************** When people think of a sponge, they usually imagine something like this: a cleaning sponge for washing the dishes…or for washing the car. Cleaning sponges are synthetic these days, but they used to come from the ocean. Back in the days before we had synthetic sponges for housework, cleaning sponges did come from the ocean. They were harvested by hard-hat divers walking along the ocean floor in heavy weighted boots with a rake-like tool to pluck the sponges off the bottom. It was a dangerous and difficult job. Bagfuls of sponges were lifted to the boat above. Immediately, the crew set to work cleaning the sponges. Then they were hung to air dry. After days or weeks at sea, when the boat was full of sponges, they were taken to shore, where they were auctioned to the highest bidder. Finally they were trimmed, sorted and sold to the public. Natural sponges are still harvested in nearly the same way today, but the synthetic sponge has spared the lives of countless ocean sponges! While an ocean sponge looks something like a weird plant, it's actually an animal. In fact, sponges are among the simplest multi-cellular animals on Earth. They live on the bottom of the ocean, attached to a surface and never moving because they can't walk or swim. Some are quite colorful, while others are drab. They also come in all shapes and sizes. There are tube sponges, vase sponges, barrel sponges, rope sponges, encrusting sponges and many other types. Sponges live from the frigid waters of the arctic and Antarctic, to the tropics. On many coral reefs, sponges dominate the sea floor and the drop off. One of the most common sponges on coral reefs is the barrel sponge. Barrel sponges grow to epic proportions, getting larger than a person! Although sponges can't walk or swim, they can feed. They do it by filtering tiny plankton from the water. A sponge is covered with small pores, called ostia, which lead to a system of internal canals and eventually out to one or more larger holes, called oscula. Within the canals of the sponge, chambers are lined with specialized cells called choanocytes, or collar cells. The collar cells have a sticky, funnel shaped collar and a hairlike whip, called a flagellum. The collar cells serve two purposes. First, they beat their flagella back and forth like fans to move water through the sponge. The water brings in nutrients and oxygen, while it carries out waste and carbon dioxide. Second, the sticky collars of the collar cells pick up tiny bits of planktonic food brought in with the water. Sponges are very effective filter feeders, since they are able to capture and eat particles as small as bacteria as well as much larger particles. They might not look like they are doing much, but a simple demonstration shows how effectively sponges can pump water. On a reef in the Caribbean, I make a dive with a syringe filled with a non-toxic dye called fluorescein. By squirting it around the base of some sponges, we can observe how the water is moving by watching what the dye does. Within only seconds, the dye is pumped through the sponges along with the water. As you can see, a sponge is a pretty good water pump, and also a good strainer. Any plankton that goes in with the water, won't come back out through the osculum. Tube sponges are even more spectacular to observe. They pump the dye so furiously that they look like a collection of miniature smoke stacks! Since sponges can't get together to reproduce, they spawn in a way similar to coral. The sperm is released into the water column by the male sponge and finds its way to the female sponges, where fertilization occurs internally. Eventually, the planktonic larvae are released from the female sponge and float around in the water column as plankton for only a few days. They then settle down and start growing. Sponges don't have many predators. There is not much nutritional value in a sponge and they're hard to digest. Hence, very few animals can eat sponges. But something was clearly eating this sponge! A sea turtle is the culprit. Sea turtles are one of the principal predators of sponges, along with a few species of fish and some invertebrates like nudibranchs.

Atlantic Puffins returned to nest at Eastern Egg Rock in Maine after decades of absence, thanks to the work of seabird biologists. Cornell Lab of Ornithology producer David O. Browns pays a visit to the restored colony, the world's first. The National Audubon Society started Project Puffin in 1973 in an effort to learn how to restore puffins to historic nesting islands in the Gulf of Maine.

Diving birds! Pelicans bombing for fish! Nice Pelican pictures! Pelican diving for fish is something! When two pelicans diving for fish it looks exceptionally beautiful! Pelicans are a genus of large water birds comprising the family Pelecanidae. They are characterized by a long beak and large throat pouch used in catching prey and draining water from the scooped up contents before swallowing. They have predominantly pale plumage, the exceptions being the Brown and Peruvian Pelicans. The bills, pouches and bare facial skin of all species become brightly colored before the breeding season. The eight living pelican species have a patchy global distribution, ranging latitudinaly from the tropics to the temperate zone, though they are absent from interior South America as well as from polar regions and the open ocean. Fossil evidence of pelicans dates back at least 30 million years, to the remains of a beak very similar to that of modern species recovered from Oligocene strata in France. Long thought to be related to frigate birds, cormorants, tropic birds, gannets and boobies, pelicans are now known instead to be most closely related to the Shoebill and Hamerkop, and are placed in the order Pelican forms. Ibises, spoonbills and herons are more distant relatives, and have been classified in the same order. Pelicans frequent inland and coastal waters where they feed principally on fish, catching them at or near the water surface. Gregarious birds, they often hunt cooperatively and breed colonially. Four white-plumage species tend to nest on the ground, and four brown or grey-plumage species nest mainly in trees. The relationship between pelicans and people has often been contentious. The birds have been persecuted because of their perceived competition with commercial and recreational fishers. They have suffered from habitat destruction, disturbance and environmental pollution, and three species are of conservation concern. They also have a long history of cultural significance in mythology, and in Christian and heraldic iconography.
