De groep ‘Tribute to Miles Davis’ bestaat uit Ron Carter (bass), Tony Williams (drums), Wayne Shorter (sax), Wallace Roney (trumpet) en Herbie Hancock (keys).

Miles Smiles - Don't Stop Me Now (Live North Sea Jazz 2012)

07:15
Wallace Roney, trumpet Bill Evans, alto saxophone Robben Ford, guitar Joey DeFrancesco, hammond b-3 organ Victor Bailey, bass Omar Hakim, drums More than 20 years after his death, jazz megastar Miles Davis continues to cast a long shadow over the music world. Miles Smiles features some of most prodigious players who thrived in Davis's final bands, coming together to pay sizzling tribute to their legendary employer. Wallace Roney is the only trumpeter Davis ever mentored and he held down the trumpet chair in the great Tony Williams quintet. Saxophonist Bill Evans had a spectacular run, appearing on six Miles albums in the early '80s. Joey DeFrancesco was 17 and unknown outside of Philadelphia when Davis recruited him, a spotlight that revived the flagging fortunes of the Hammond B3 organ. Robben Ford, one of the era's dominant contemporary jazz guitarists, put in a memorable stint with Davis in the mid-80s. Drummer Omar Hakim, a veteran of Weather Report, appeared on the landmark Davis albums Tutu and Amandla. The lineup is completed by stellar bassist Victor Bailey, who followed Jaco Pastorius as a longtime member of Weather Report and has performed with artists ranging from Hugh Masekela to Madonna. This gathering of Davis alums qualifies as a monumental jazz event.

James Brown live at the North Sea Jazz Festival 2nd concert • 11-07-1981 • World of Jazz

01:20:13
This is the second performance of James Brown and his band, that he did during the North Sea Jazz Festival on 11 July 1981, held in the Congress center in The Hague. This second concert is extraordinary and sees a James Brown that really gives everything to get the audience to their feet. The first concert that we published on 5 October 2017 which was recorded by AVRO Television earlier that 11th July 1981 saw a lame audience that did not know how to react. In this fantastic video we see what James Brown could do with any audience. Also this concert has a different tracklisting including a sensational 'It's A Man's World' in which he pays tribute to great artists who died such as Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and especially to John Lennon, who died some 6 months earlier. The concert's encore is a raving rendition of 'Sex Machine'. Enjoy! The repertoire featured is: 00:03:30 "Hot Pants Road' by Charles Bobbit, James Brown, St. Clair Pinckney ; 00:09:02 "We are the funky men" - James Brown; 00:19:43 "Also sprach Zarathustra - Richard Straus s" + "Somewhere over the rainbow" – E.Y.
