Ever try to visualize in four dimensions or six or seven? Linear algebra describes things in two dimensions, but many of the concepts can be extended into three, four or more. Linear algebra implies two dimensional reasoning, however, the concepts covered in linear algebra provide the basis for multi-dimensional representations of mathematical reasoning. Matrices, vectors, vector spaces, transformations, eigenvectors/values all help us to visualize and understand multi dimensional concepts. This is an advanced course normally taken by science or engineering majors after taking at least two semesters of calculus (although calculus really isn't a prereq) so don't confuse this with regular high school algebra. About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content. For free. For everyone. An Introduction to Switches & Crossings - Network Rail engineering education (12 of 15)

07:05
Switches and crossings play an essential role in connecting the rail network. We use them to guide trains from one track to another and to enable lines to cross paths. Put simply, they're the junctions that allow us to create a multi-lined, multi-routed rail network. This is how they work. Cross products | Essence of linear algebra, Chapter 10

08:53
This covers the main geometric intuition behind the 2d and 3d cross products. *Note, in all the computations here, I list the coordinates of the vectors as columns of a matrix, but many textbooks put them in the rows of a matrix instead. It makes no difference for the result, since the determinant is unchanged after a transpose, but given how I've framed most of this series I think it is more intuitive to go with a column-centric approach. Cross Product and Distance from a Point to a Line

03:36
Explains how to use the cross product of two vectors to find the distance from a point to a line. Basically you find two points on your line. Create two vectors, one from a point on the line to the point in space; one between the two points on the line. We then use the fact that the area of a parallelogram determined by two vectors is the magnitude of their cross product to find the "height" of this parallelogram, which is the distance from the point to the line.

Shortest distance between two skew lines in 3D space.

12:03
An example of finding the shortest distance between two lines in 3D space which do not intersect. The lines are specified only by a point on them and their direction vectors, and from this general points on each line are established in terms of parameters. The resulting vector from one point to the other then leads to the parameters of the points required and the distance between them. The same general vector would give the point of intersection if its components could form the zero vector.

Cross products in the light of linear transformations | Essence of linear algebra chapter 11

Ti-84 Cross Product Program & Dot Product for Vectors (Triple Scalar Product)

04:47
Vector Cross Products are a big thing in Calculus 3, but they can be tedious to calculate due to all the repetitive arithmetic. So I’ve made a program to calculate a cross product for you or use to check an answer. You can easily expand it to use for the Triple Scalar Product of 3 vectors. Download the program http://www.mediafire.com/download/vrj42rkepyqb61c/A2CROSS.8xp ➤Dot products are simple: -2nd STAT -Left arrow to "MATH" -option 5 is sum( -type your 2 vectors in curly braces separated by commas -sum( {1,2,3}{3,4,5} -Press Enter & you’ve got the answer ➤Cross Products program: Input "{A,B,C}=",L3 Input "{D,E,F}=",L4 Disp "AXB=",{L3(2)L4(3)-L3(3)L4(2),L3(3)L4(1)-L3(1)L4(3),L3(1)L4(2)-L3(2)L4(1)} You could paste these 3 lines into the cemetech editor and create your own program https://www.cemetech.net/sc/ ➤When running the program you must enter the vectors in curly braces (the last one is optional) -So when it prompts "{A,B,C}=" you enter "{1,2,3" The program’s answer is a list NOT an actual vector (e.g. {2 4 5} (Notice no commas) If you need to use it as a vector, copy it manually ➤Scalar Triple Product: -is defined by a•(bXc) or b•(aXc) -so do a cross product first -then dot product that answer with the third vector Cross Product Definition http://www.mathportal.org/linear-algebra/vectors/cross-product.php Slightly Modified source https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110207191241AAOr0XA

Solve a Percent Problem with Proportion & Cross Product - Math Video of Math Minutes Pro

05:49
DEDICATION - I dedicate this video to my niece, Jaya (a 7th grader). I am so proud of you because you have the courage to learn math, ask for help, and do your best! Never give up...this is what it means to be an "excellent math problem solver." This video explains how to solve a percent problem by converting the math question to a proportion, then using the cross-product strategy to solve the proportion. Remember to like, comment, and subscribe. ======= DEFINITIONS *Proportion*: A proportion is an equation that is formed by two equivalent ratios or fractions. *Cross Product*: A strategy for solving a proportion that involves drawing a line from the numerator of one fraction to the denominator of the other fraction twice to create an X. The crossing lines implies multiplying the numerator by the denominator. For instance, let a/b = c/d be a proportion where ad = cb. ======= For access to more educational math videos, click the weblink below. https://www.patreon.com/mathminutespro

In this video we talk about a common mistake in historical sword fighting, which is chasing the opponent's sword (rather than threatening the opponent). We also cover the concept of crossing the line, which helps keeps us safe while attacking and successfully displaces an opponent's strike or thrust. Special thanks to Gregory Temorcioglu, the assistant instructor at Blood & Iron Victoria, for helping with the demonstration and offering his insight. http://www.bloodandiron.ca/victoria/locations/victoria-staff/ The practice messers in this video (made by Arms & Armor): http://ww4.aitsafe.com/go.htm?go=kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=AA237&name=Arms+%26+Armor+Messer+Trainer&afid=28632&tm=14&im=1 ******************************************************************************** Want to help fund future videos? http://www.patreon.com/skallagrim For one-time donations: https://www.paypal.me/SkallagrimYT Get in contact or see a list of my video uploads: https://www.facebook.com/SkallagrimYT https://twitter.com/_Skallagrim_ My favorite online store for buying swords (worldwide shipping): http://ww4.aitsafe.com/go.htm?go=kultofathena.com&afid=28632&tm=14&im=1 Channel-related shirts and other merch: https://teespring.com/stores/skallagrim http://skallagrim.spreadshirt.com/ Things I recommend on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/shop/skallagrimnilsson Best-selling knives on Gearbest: https://www.gearbest.com/promotion-best-selling-knives-special-695.html?lkid=12495372 15% off on GearBest Outdoors & Sports products with coupon code "out15off": https://www.gearbest.com/lifestyle-c_11270/show.html?lkid=12495729
