LOOK WHAT THEY JUST CAUGHT IN THE SEA

11:30
Description: Well hello there Supreme family! Welcome back to another epic, daily episode from your favorite YouTube channel – The Supreme! I’m your host Matty Willz, and today we’ll be uncovering the cool world strange and mysterious underwater creatures. Things that you’ve never seen before, and in some cases, animals that are have otherwise been completely unknown - with today’s title - Look What They Just Caught in the Sea! Want to become part of the Supreme Team? Make sure to subscribe down below with notifications ON so you don’t miss anything we post each day! Let’s get rollin! 10 Mysterious Sea Monster Alright so up first on today’s list we have a pretty unique sea creature that was caught on camera, and we’re encouraging any of you out there with a good guess as to what it is – to go ahead and leave that in the comments. Check this out. At Ballston Beach, in the state of Massachusetts back in June of 2018, you can see – what appears to be – a large floating object there in the distance. You can even hear a few loan groans as well, a sound that could be from a large ship – or perhaps even a very large animal. After a while, and without warning, something else rises up from the water – and it looks like it could be some sort of large head. Yes, a head. You can even see what looks like a tail on the right side of the screen – and then the groans start getting much louder. The tail appears to be moving, and of course all of this prompts the obvious question 9 The Hatchetfish Up next on today’s countdown is an underwater sea creature that you can only find if you swim to about 50 meters below the surface of the sea. Also, they’re quite ugly – there’s really no sugarcoating or getting around that part – so I figured we may as well just get it right out there. So, check this out. Ugh, disgusting, right? Now I will say this – these fish are so small that they really don’t pose much of a physical threat – if any – at all. This is one case where the looks can be slightly deceiving, if you want to put it like that. Anyway, the hatchetfish can be found in the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic Oceans, so just make sure you pack your scuba gear and perhaps you can meet one of these guys up close and personal one day. 8 The Deep-Sea Anglerfish Alrighty moving things right along into the next clip, we have another super scary animal that, I’m willing to bet, you’ve never seen before. Meet the anglerfish. Ugly, ain’t it? Dwelling at depths over 800 meters below the surface of the ocean, these hideous creatures aren’t all that large, but do possess a unique fishing tool unlike any other in the animal world. It has a bioluminescent extension, or a lure, that poked out from the top of it’s head, which may cause one to wonder – ‘how does that light pole help a fish hunt? Doesn’t it just give away its location to potential prey?’ Well the anglerfish uses the special light to attract prey closer to it’s sharp, pointy teeth. You have to think, it’s so dark down at this depth that smaller fish will inadvertently travel towards almost any light source, which works out well for the angler, not so much for the potential dinner. 7 The Sea Monster at Okanagan Lake Up next on today’s list we have another mysterious sea serpent that has popped up – according to multiple reports – for centuries, the most recent being about 5 years ago in the Okanagan Lake in Canada. This image here has perplexed experts, animal researchers and locals, as it appears to be some kind of sea serpent that’s at least, quote ‘as long as a school bus’. Dubbed the Ogopogo, the first sighting of this evasive animal actually occurred back in 1872, which for the historians out there, is about 7 years earlier than the first supposed sighting of the Loch Ness Monster. The indigenous people of Canada called this supposedly mythical creature the “Lake Demon”, and based on it’s appearance and descriptions left from previous generations over the years, that nickname fits perfectly. 6 The Bizarre Humanoid Creature 5 ?? 4 ?? 3 ?? 2 ?? 1 ?? 10 Sea Monsters ATTACKING A Boat!

12:03
Check out these 10 sea monsters attacking a boat! This top 10 list of ocean creatures like whales and great white sharks attacking a ship shows some bizarre stories caught on camera! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "MYSTERIOUS Creatures Living At The BOTTOM Of The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/Efhjc-Gu508 Watch our "SECRETS Casinos DON'T Want You To Find Out!" video here: https://youtu.be/hAoABuvzOZM Watch our "RAREST And Most EXPENSIVE Cars In The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/MtCnWSqqilg 10. Great White Shark If you’ve been on a boat out on the ocean, a Jaws attack has probably crossed your mind. Even if it’s just barely!! Then of course you rationalize that the chances of that happening are practically 0. Practically. That’s what Terry Selwood, a 73-year-old Australian fisherman learned in 2017, when a great white shark leapt out of the water, into his boat!! 9. An Eagle Ray Rays seem like beautiful, serene creatures - but they can be extremely dangerous, even if you’re on the relative safety of a large tourist boat. In 2011, Jenny Hausch had rented a 26-foot catamaran for her family to take a trip in Florida. Sounds really nice right? 8. Swordfish In 2017, Alan Pope, a British tourist, was on a boat trip getting ready to go snorkeling in Indonesia when everything went horribly wrong. Without any warning, a swordfish jumped out of the water and into the boat, and impaled his neck with its bill. The end snapped off, and left six inches of the sword still jabbed inside his neck, just millimeters from instantly killing him. 7. Sperm Whales The Gulf of Alaska is a prime fishing location, especially for those trying to catch black cod. In these waters, though, there is a much larger creature that also likes eating the fish- sperm whales. They are the ocean’s largest toothed predators, and while they are quite capable of catching food for themselves, they much prefer taking the easy route. 6. Giant Squid Mostly creatures of legend, giant squids are mentioned in many old mariners tales of dangers at sea. But they are rarely seen, let alone involved in attacking boats. So when a team of French sailors came face to face with one in 2003, they almost didn’t believe it!! 5. Bull Shark You might think that a great white shark would be the most problematic shark species to boats, but there’s another type that can be more aggressive, and more likely to risk an encounter. 4. Jellyfish Sometimes it’s the smallest things that can have the biggest effect, something that became ever so apparent in 2017 when Chinese scientists were investigating why their aircraft carriers were experiencing difficulties. They found that large swarms of Jellyfish were getting caught up in the propulsion systems! This would stop the ships dead in their tracks, or cause the engines to overheat and cause extreme damage. 3. Mako Shark This next story took place just last year, 2017 in Long Island, New York. A fishing charter boat was taking guests to the location where they find the widest variety of fish, when suddenly a Mako shark jumped onto the side of the boat. Unfortunately for the fish, it managed to get itself stuck in the handrail of the boat and, despite thrashing about, it couldn’t free itself. 2. Black Marlin Game fishing is a popular pastime for many enthusiasts, but when you’re chasing after some of the largest and most powerful marine creatures on earth, you have to be ready for the unpredictable. Again last year, things went very wrong indeed for a fishing boat off the coast of Panama. They had caught a black marlin, a species that can weight up to 1500 pounds and reach speeds of up to 50 miles per hour. 1. Killer Whale If you’ve ever watched a nature documentary that’s featured Killer Whales, you’ll be all too familiar how organised and clever they can be. Pods work together to catch prey, and even tilt ice flows to trap seals. When they turn these skills towards human activity, the results can be frightening. 1. All burials are at sea

03:21
Boats have been lifted down into the ocean all week now,the centre-boards, the cabin-cruisers, the great ocean going. And the toddlers are making heirlooms with their hands in the breakers, theirs is the drift of where he stands, feeling the pain of the oar like a start of a stroke in his shoulders and sad for the living for those left behind in the photographs. At his sea front dormer window with the Second World War binoculars, waiting for his life to well up like a submarine so he can row out towards her. And the toddlers are making heirlooms with their hands in the breakers, theirs is the drift of where he stands, feeling the pain of the oar like a start of a stroke in his shoulders and sad for the living for those left behind in the photographs. Through the rowlocks chronic bronchitis through the air of siren and be among his countrymen at the bottom of the sea. And sad for the living for those left behind in the photographs. You are surrounding all my surroundings, Sounding down the mountain range of my left-side brain, You are surrounding all my surroundings, Twisting the kaleidoscope behind both of my eyes. And I'll be holding on to you. Remember the moment you know exactly where you're going, 'Cause the next moment, before you know it, Time is slowing and it's frozen still, And the window sill looks really nice, right? You think twice about your life, it probably happens at night, right? Fight it, take the pain, ignite it, Tie a noose around your mind loose enough to breathe fine and tie it, To a tree, tell it, "You belong to me, This ain't a noose, this is a leash, And I have some news for you, you must obey me." Entertain my faith. Lean with it, rock with it, When we gunna stop with it, Lyrics that mean nothing, we were gifted with thought, Is it time to move our feet to an introspective beat, It ain't the speakers that bump hearts, it's our hearts that make the beat.

Lyrics: If the world fell into the sea My feet are wet today My tears have soaked the pavement My mind's runnin again And all my hopes are fadin If this is the way I don't wanna stay If the world fell into the sea Would you hold on and drown right here with me If it's over I guess we're goin under Please help me, the only place that's safe Is right here in our dreams Inside this desperate time You've been my one true haven And I just realized That's all that's left worth Savin Under the seams The only place that's safe, is in our dreams

Rough Seas as Anthem Of The Seas sails towards New York

01:48
Things got a little rough on April 6, 2016, as Royal Caribbean's "Anthem Of The Seas" cruise ship sailed the open waters of the Atlantic on the way back home to New York harbor and her home port of Bayonne, New Jersey. I got to swim in the pool earlier in the day before they finally closed them off and drained them. It was a lot of fun as all the water in the pool sloshed around with the motion of the ocean! Even rougher ocean conditions are predicted for the next day... so there may very well be a more dramatic sequel to this video. 10 Things You DIDN'T KNOW About Pirates

13:00
LOVE WAS ABUNDANT ON-BOARD Love was abundant on-board pirate ships. Myths denote these booty looting buccaneers as womanizers with a soft spot for rum. In actuality... SUBSCRIBE for the latest videos: https://goo.gl/7xzjzR Don't forget to CHECK OUT our latest upload: https://goo.gl/LUB8Xw The golden age of pirates spanned from 1620 until roughly 1720. The first known accounts of these marine marauders emerged around 14th century BC., when a clan known as the Sea Peoples ransacked ships of the Aegean and Mediterranean civilizations. Ho hum and a bottle of rum In lore and legend, pirates are romanticized as a jolly bunch who, save for plank walking and the plundering of treasure, liked to drink and have a good time. While a large bulk of pirating was done in the Caribbean, where Spanish, French and British ships were preyed upon, pirates attained copious amounts of rum by raiding said ships or purchasing large quantities at the port. Pirates were gender neutral Although women were known to bring bad luck and misfortune on board a sailing ship, this didn’t hinder those determined damsels who donned the clothing of men, change their birth-given names, and pursue the pirate dream every little girl grows up to have. Mary Read and Anne Bonny: two famed female pirates who joined forces and worked on Captain Calico Jack’s ship in the Carribean. Pirate Pride Love was abundant on-board pirate ships. Myths denote these booty looting buccaneers as womanizers with a soft spot for rum. In actuality, homosexuality was widely welcomed aboard ships, and this could well be attributed to a man never setting eyes on a woman for weeks to several months at a time. Gay marriages were performed on deck as the term Matelotage. Jolly roger When one thinks of a pirate ship, they think of the Jolly Roger— a black flag with a skull and crossbones emblem. As history goes however, this was not the primary pennant used by pirates to adorn their ships. Sea monsters and pirate maps The most famous of all pirate myths is the Kraken— a giant ship sinking octopus. Interestingly enough, what pirates feared most about this infamous monster were not the giant tentacles thought to be the creatures most feared weapon, but rather the deathly whirlpool left in its wake, and formal induction into Davy Jones’ famed locker. Another noteworthy sea beast was first mentioned in 1621 by St. Brendon. Jasconius was said to be a giant sea turtles. Black Bart, this legendary buccaneer by the name of Black Bart was perhaps the most productive of all his piratey peers, as in the early 18th century over 400 ships fell to his sword. His somewhat more refined name, however, was Bartholomew Roberts, a Welshman who was known to wear a nice waistcoat with according to documents— “snappy breeches and a dashing red feather in his cap.” This civilized leader was known to drink tea and water, with rules in place such as a musician hired to play hymns on Sunday, and lights out by eight pm. William Kidd, also known as Captain Kidd, was never known to be a proper pirate, yet paid the price to seem like one. In 1701 Kidd was hung for getting up to some naughty antics and his body was displayed in chains and hung for three years over the River Thames. Despite the fact that the captain never marooned any of his victims nor tortured them, having only been convicted of one murder, his ruthless demise was a lesson for other would-be pirates. The most famous association with Captain Kidd his the notion of his buried treasure, which have been sought out by many and featured in literature such as in Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Gold Bug.” Chivalry is not dead just a dead man’s tale Despite their ruthless nature towards others, each pirate ship had a civil code of conduct that all aboard had to follow. Rules included how to properly divide loot so it would be fairly distributed to all— for the finding of treasure was every pirate’s greatest achievement. Eyepatches & Earrings Pirates were not as fashionable as one might think. For starters, the parrot myth is just that, as due to the rigorous journeys and months at a time at sea, a furry companion would have been better off as a sizeable snack than pet. Eye patches weren’t worn because pirates lack an eye, in fact, quite the opposite. A patch over one eye was thought to enhance night vision, or the ability to see while below deck. The legend of Davy Jones While Davy Jones was an actual pirate, not much is known on him, except that he lived on the Indian ocean and in myth cut out his own heart after upsetting the sea goddess Calypso. The character was made popular in the 2006 film Pirates of the Caribbean. Walking the plank was all for show Unfortunately for Captain Hook in Peter Pan, pirates didn’t really make their captors walk the plank. While this is a popular concept in contemporary lore, the deviant desperados preferred the simple act of killing prisoners straightaway. Keelhauling— dragging a hogtied sailor.

FOR THE carnitas style JACKFRUIT 3 cans young jackfruit (link: https://www.amazon.com/Native-Forest-Jackfruit-Meatless-Alternative/dp/B01516LOTS) 2 tsp cumin 2 tsp paprika 1 onion, diced 1/4 lb of mushrooms, sliced 3 cloves garlic, minced 1 lime FOR THE ENCHILADA SAUCE 30 ounces of crushed organic tomatoes 1 stick celery 2 tbsp arrowroot powder (or cornstarch) 1 tbsp cumin 1 tbsp chili powder 7 pickled jalapenos. For the Cheese sauce 2 cups diced sweet potato 2 cups diced golden potato 2 medium carrots, diced 3 garlic cloves 1/2 an onion, diced 1/4 cup raw whole cashews 1/4 cup nutritional yeast 1/2-3/4 cup water 3 tbsp lemon juice 1/8 tsp sea salt 2 CANS OF BLACK OR PINTO BEANS 2 bags of organic corn tortillas 2 avocados Chopped lettuce 1 can black olives instructions: Preparing a few parts of the recipe ahead of time before preparing dinner will make it easier as this dish has lots of steps but is worth the effort! 1st Rinse and soak the jackfruit overnight or 3+ hours before time to make dinner. Pour the jackfruit into a strainer and squish each piece to find the hard parts to remove them. The hard parts are the parts that don’t break apart easily and simply aren’t edible. Once you’ve taken apart all the jackfruit, rinse it really well then soak it in a large bowl of water. 2nd Prepare the cheese sauce and beans. Boil the carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, onion and garlic cloves in a large pot of water. And start a small pot of canned/drained and rinsed pinto or black beans on medium heat or make from scratch before hand. 3rd While thats boiling, blend together the enchilada sauce ingredients. Warm in a small pot for 5-7 minutes until sauce has thickened. Then set aside while you prepare the rest of the dish. 4th Once the potatoes and carrots are done boiling, drain the water and blend together with the rest of the cheese sauce ingredients in a high speed blender until smooth and creamy. 5th preheat the oven to 375 degrees. 6th Prepare the carnitas style jackfruit. Start a large pot or sauce pan of diced onions and sauté with water on medium heat. Add in diced mushrooms and the spices for the jackfruit and continue sautéing until cooked down. Drain and rinse throughly the jackfruit one more time and then pick up handfuls of the jackfruit and squeeze out all or most of the liquid. Then place in the pot with the onions and mushrooms and stir together on medium heat for about 10 minutes until thoroughly combined and to let simmer. Add lime juice towards the end and mix together. 7th ASSEMBLE THE ENCHILADAS! Spread a layer of enchilada sauce on the bottom of a casserole dish, warm each corn tortilla on a heated pan for 5 to 10 seconds on each side so it becomes bendy, then dip the tortillas in the enchilada sauce and place on a plate. Layer with the carnitas style jackfruit, beans and a little cheese sauce then wrap into a burrito and place in the casserole dish. Repeat this step until you run out of room or start another pan and keep going until you run out of jackfruit and beans. There should still be a good amount of enchilada sauce left Spread a nice layer of enchilada sauce over the top of the dish then place into the oven for about 20 minutes. Take the casserole dish out and add a layer of cheese sauce then place back into the oven for 20 more minutes until warm and cooked through. 8th top with avocado, lettuce, black olives and optional cashew “sour cream” and enjoy! The Ship "Terra Nova" Leaving Harbour Towards the South Pole (1910)

00:56
On 1 July 1910 Captain Robert Falcon Scott and the British Antarctic Expedition left Bute Docks, Cardiff, for the last great unexplored continent on Earth. The ship, Terra Nova, originally a whaler built in Dundee, had been refitted and coaled at Cardiff for her long voyage south. Both of the leading British polar explorers Scott and Shackleton had been on fund raising and lecture tours in 1909 so that awareness of the departure of Britain's biggest and most ambitious expedition yet was high. It was not yet known that the Norwegian explorer Amundsen was also on his way to Antarctica: in September 1910 the expedition would become a race. RhB Bernina train along Lago Bianco towards Alp Grüm 01: October 2011

02:19
The narrow gauge train has left Ospizio Bernina, the highest railway station of the Rhaetian Railways at 2253 meters above sea level. It is on its way south towards the Italian border at Tirano. Here, it is following Lago Bianco, a high Alpine reservoir, then drops towards Alp Grüm, disappearing in a snow shelter. Of the two motor coaches up front, the dark blue one is decorated for the 100th anniversary of the Bernina line. The lighter blue one celebrates the UNESCO designation of the line as a "World Heritage" site. The date is 27 October 2011. As usual on this line, the passenger train has a few freight cars hooked up at the end.

Russia sends fleet of warships towards Australia ahead of G20 summit

00:57
Russia has sent a fleet of warships towards Australia ahead of the G20 summit of world leaders to be held in Brisbane this weekend. The Russian fleet includes the guided missile cruiser Varyag, destroyer Marshal Shaposhnikov, the tug boat Fotiy Krylov and supply tanker Boris Butoma, the Australian reported. The fleet left Vladivostok on October 23. The fleet was believed to be in the Coral Sea, South of Bougainville, Papua New Guinea on Wednesday evening, news.com.au reported. The warships could be in waters off Brisbane by Saturday, according to 7 News. Australia deployed the naval ships HMAS Parramatta and HMAS Stuart to monitor the Russian ships in the Coral Sea earlier this week. An Australian P-3 Orion surveillance aircraft was also sent to shadow the Russian warships, the Australian reported. The Russian embassy has said the warships were performing routine activities and had no intention of entering Australian waters, unless by invitation, according to the Australian. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. Is China pushing Africa into a 'debt trap'?

Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Flies Over East Coast North of Hilo after Viewing Kilauea Volcano

07:09
After flying over the Fissure 8 eruption of Kilauea Volcano on Hawaii island, my helicopter makes a U-turn so folks on the left side can have a nice view of the ocean entries. It’s now 1:28 p.m. as we turn back toward Hilo along the island’s east coast. What a spectacular flight to come over and see Fissure 8 sprouting out lava and watching the river of lava heading toward the ocean. Helicopters are all over the place. This is definitely a sight to see. Puna District population is about 50,000, so it’s a pretty large displacement if you have 2,000 residents forced out of their homes out of 50,000. That’s a displacement rate of 4%. Having left the volcanic eruption zone, we’re now en route to view waterfalls along the coast north of Hilo, the second part of our flightseeing tour. We fly over Onomea Bay. Hilo's location on the eastern side of the Hawaii, windward relative to the trade winds, makes it the fourth wettest city in the United States behind 3 places in southeast Alaskan. This side of the island, wherever the lava is not flowing, is lush and green, in contrast to the dry western (Kona) side of the island. There are few beaches on this side, however, as we fly along rocky cliffs at the sea’s edge. Small waterfalls are seen coming out into the sea. Then we spot a larger one with multiple cascades stepping down to the ocean. It’s hard to imagine in this lush tropical landscape that nearby to the south is a volcanic eruption zone. Filmed July 3, 2018 on Hawaii Island

Animals ABOUT To Go EXTINCT!

11:22
Check out these animals about to go extinct! This top 10 list of endangered species has some of the most rare animals that exist in the world today! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "Most TERRIFYING Sea Monsters Ever!" video here: https://youtu.be/B9aPB6KB504 Watch our "Animals that ALMOST went EXTINCT!" video here: https://youtu.be/SvPyCZNY6JY Watch our "8 Times Humanity ALMOST Ended!" video here: https://youtu.be/GVPgu7QbU9c 10. Ocean Quahog The Ocean Quahog, or Arctica Islandica, is a large bivalve that grows up to ten centimeters tall. Large populations can be found in the ocean waters around Iceland, but they live buried beneath the sea bed all across the Atlantic Ocean. They hold the record for being the longest known living creatures on our planet, with one specimen that was caught in 2006 thought to be about 507 years old. This means it would have been born in 1499. Despite their longevity, the Ocean Quahog has been put on the list of at-risk species of the North-East Atlantic Ocean because numbers have been plummeting. This has happened due to extensive fishing to send to the USA for the manufacture of clam chowder soup, increased pollution of the seas by plastic and chemical waste, and the destruction of their habitats by deep sea dredge fishing. 9. The Vaquita The Vaquita, a small species of porpoise, was only first discovered in 1958- but today finds itself as being the world’s rarest marine mammal and on the brink of extinction. They are native to the Gulf of California off the coast of Mexico, where large numbers used to gather, but numbers have severely fallen because of human activity in the area. A study in 1997 estimated a population in the region of only 600, but this fell to 100 in a similar survey in 2014 and most recently, in 2016, the total number is though to be around 30. That’s a population decline of over 92 percent since 1997, and means this glorious creature sadly doesn’t have much time left. Unlike other animals that are facing extinction because of hunting, the loss of Vaquita’s is mainly as a by-product of the fishing of an endangered fish called the Totoaba. This large, 300 pound fish is highly sought after for its swim bladder that is popular in Chinese medicine and, as a result, commands a high price. The gillnets that are used to catch the Totoaba also traps large numbers of Vaquita and has been the single most destructive factor towards Vaquita numbers. Despite the Mexican governments attempts to limit the fishing of the Totoaba for this reason, even banning the use of gillnets in 2015 for two years and setting up wildlife refuges, the porpoise has not been able to recover because there are still lots of trawlers using the nets illegally. 8. Javan Rhinoceros Rhinos are one of the more famous animals of the world that are endangered, but rather than the more well-known white and black Rhinos from Africa, the most at-risk type of the five different species is the Javan Rhinoceros. They used to be prevalent across south east Asia, but with the last Javan Rhino of Vietnam having been poached in 2010, the only known remaining ones all live in the Ujung Kulon National Park in Java, Indonesia. They are very similar in appearance to the closely related “Greater One-Horned Rhino” and are a dusky grey color with one horn that grows up to about ten inches long. The loose folds of their skin make them look like they have armor plating, and they are thought to live for between thirty and forty years. With only around 60 of these Rhinos left in the wild, and none in captivity, their future survival depends on the ability of park rangers to protect them from the threat of poachers- who hunt them for their valuable horns that are a valuable commodity across the region for their supposed medicinal properties.

Poland is pushing the EU into crisis

08:08
Poland’s far-right party is subverting democracy, and setting the country on a collision course with the EU. For more detail on the 2017 Independence day march, read this excellent piece by Christian Davies in the Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/nov/18/more-girls-fewer-skinheads-polands-far-right-wrestles-with-changing-image Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO Poland is changing. In 2015, the far-right Law and Justice party, or PiS, won both the presidential election and a slim parliamentary majority. Since then, they’ve been working to cement their power by firing judges, purging the military and civil service, and cracking down on protesters and the media. All of this has put the country on a collision course with the European Union that could threaten Europe’s hard-won peace and prosperity following centuries of conflict. To truly understand the international conflicts and trends shaping our world you need a big-picture view. Primitive Technology: Lime

07:08
At the old hut site (the new one being temporarily cut off by flooding) I made lime mortar from the shells of rainforest snails by firing them in a kiln, slaking them in water, mixing them into lime putty. Limestone is basically calcium carbonate (CaCO3). The general source of lime is limestone and various other calcareous minerals, though shells, egg shells and coral are other sources of lime (for more information see video on Corporals Corner channel: https://youtu.be/tOhAfaFboNU or Skillcults channel: https://youtu.be/jOxaOTUGuKo). When heated above 840 degrees Celsius, the lime decomposes into calcium oxide (CaO) or Quicklime and releases carbon dioxide (CO2). When water is added to the quicklime it becomes calcium hydroxide Ca (OH)2 or lime putty. From here the calcium hydroxide can then be shaped into a form and allowed to set. Carbon dioxide enters the lime putty as it dries causing it to turn back into calcium carbonate. The new calcium carbonate has then set, remaining solid and water resistant. In my local geography, calcareous rocks such as limestone are absent leading to a difficulty in acquiring the feed stock for lime making. However, I was still able to make lime by collecting the shells of large terrestrial snails that are native to the rainforest here. The unoccupied shells of these snails were gathered up and stored at the hut. Fire wood was gathered and packed neatly into the kiln. Importantly, the firewood was stacked on top of the grate rather than underneath it in the firebox as is the normal procedure for firing pottery. Using an ordinary updraft pottery kiln in this configuration allows it to reach much higher temperatures than would be possible during normal use. The wood was lit from above and the fire burned down towards the grate. Alternate layers of shells and wood were added on to this burning fuel bed. After adding the last layer of wood to act as a “lid” to prevent heat loss from above I left the kiln to finish on its own, unsupervised. The whole process took about an hour and a half. When the kiln had cooled down a few hours later, I took out the calcined shells. Not shown in the video was the fact that some shells got so hot, the dirt stuck to them turned into slag and fused to them, possibly with the lime acting a flux lowering its melting point. This extreme heat (+1200 c) should be avoided as the over burnt lime becomes “dead lime”, unable to slake in water. Most shells were still useable though. They were taken out of the kiln and had water added to them. An exothermic reaction then ensued. Heat was produced as the lime quicklime turned into slaked lime. The water heated up creating steam and the shells decomposed into a white paste. The paste was stirred and crushed pottery was added to it as an aggregate (sand is normally used for this, I just had a lot of old pot sherds lying about to dispose of). This lime mortar mixture was then formed into a block shape and left to dry. It took about a week and a half to set as we have had extremely humid, wet weather. The block was observed to have set demonstrating its properties. What I created is actually lime mortar, typically used for mortaring bricks and tiles together. It’s basically the ‘Glue’ that holds together the building blocks of masonry structures. From my research 20 kg of lime mortar is used on a 1 m square section of brick wall. 5 kg of lime to 15 kg of aggregate (sand, grog etc.) per a 1 m square section of bricks. The shells, though large, are not terribly abundant. A method for finding shells efficiently needs to be made before considering making lime mortar in this fashion. From my experience sand bars in a creek sometimes accumulate snail shells from higher up in the mountains. In these spots, water velocity decreases and shells in the water tend to drop out of the water column. Additionally lime may be partially replaced with ordinary wood ash in mortar without a corresponding decrease in strength. To conclude, making lime in a land without limestone is possible but can be problematic when trying to do so on a large scale. Russian Black Sea Fleet ''Admiral Grigorovich'' 494 Was Deployed To The Mediterranean Sea. #флотроссии, #BlackSeaFleet, #Fleet, The Russian frigate Admiral Grigorovich left the port of Sevastopol in Crimea on Monday for the Mediterranean where it will join the country's naval forces deployed near the Syrian coast, a naval official said. A Reuters witness saw the ship leaving its moorings in the naval port of Sevastopol. "It (the frigate) will be operating as part of the permanent Russian Navy force in the Mediterranean," the Interfax news agency quoted the navy's Captain Vyacheclav Truhachev, a spokesman for the Black Sea fleet, as saying. The frigate armed with Kalibr (Caliber) cruise missiles was deployed to the Mediterranean Sea last November as part of Russia's naval task force to Syria where it launched missile strikes against Islamic State targets. US Navy CARRIER STRIKE GROUP Moves towards North Korea

02:45
Carrier Vinson and strike group ordered back to Korean waters The aircraft carrier Carl Vinson and her strike group have been ordered to cancel planned visits to Australia and head back to Korean waters, the U.S. Navy announced Saturday night. The carrier was already operating in the western Pacific and had just visited Singapore. “U.S. Pacific Command ordered the Carl Vinson Strike Group north as a prudent measure to maintain readiness and presence in the Western Pacific,” Cmdr. Dave Benham, a spokesman for the command, said in a statement. “Third Fleet ships operate forward with a purpose: to safeguard U.S. interests in the Western Pacific,” Benham continued. “The number one threat in the region continues to be North Korea, due to its reckless, irresponsible, and destabilizing program of missile tests and pursuit of a nuclear weapons capability.” North Korea has an aggressive campaign to develop ballistic missiles with a stated aim of attacking the United States. The most recent launch, on April 5, featured what US defense officials called an extended range Scud missile, a medium-range weapon. The missile apparently suffered an in-flight failure and crashed in the Sea of Japan after travelling about 40 miles. In another test on March 6, North Korea simultaneously launched four ballistic missiles which flew about 620 miles before falling into the sea. Apparently as a result, the United States accelerated the planned deployment of a Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense system, or THAAD, to South Korea. The Vinson left for deployment on Jan. 5 and, like the last few Pacific fleet carrier cruises, is expected to spend its time patrolling the western Pacific rather than move on to the Middle East under U.S. Central Command control. The Vinson and her strike group operated in the South China Sea in February, exercised with Japanese warships in early March, and most recently took part in Exercise Foal Eagle with South Korean forces, during which the carrier spent five days pier side in the Korean port of Busan. The Vinson, cruiser Lake Champlain and destroyer Wayne E. Meyer had been visiting Singapore’s Changi naval base and left April 8 as scheduled. The destroyer Michael Murphy has been operating in Malaysian waters and will rejoin the strike group, a Navy spokesman said. Vinson is carrying the aircraft of Carrier Air Wing Two. ======================================================== DISCLAIMER: Each and every content used in this video is the sole property of the respective owners. Why NO Aquarium In The WORLD Has a Great White Shark!

11:07
Check out why no aquarium in the world has a great white shark! This top 10 list explains why these most dangerous sharks in the world can't be kept in captivity anywhere! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "STRANGEST Artifacts Ever Discovered!" video here: https://youtu.be/gG0XGt3jFZA Watch our "SECRETS Casinos DON'T Want You To Find Out!" video here: https://youtu.be/hAoABuvzOZM Watch our "RAREST And Most EXPENSIVE Cars In The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/MtCnWSqqilg 7. They Need A Lot of Space Many people visit aquariums hoping to catch a glimpse of sharks up close. Especially the great white, but no exhibit like this exists anywhere in the world. Since 1955, numerous attempts have been made by aquariums to place great white sharks into captivity. 6. Captivity Causes Depression Marine biologists believe that because we are unable to create a suitable artificial environment for great whites in captivity causes them to become depressed. They aren’t at all happy with their new environment. 5. They Injure Themselves A common behavior among great whites in captivity is to ram their heads into the walls of their tanks. There are several theories for why this happens. Some scientists believe that being in a tank disrupts the great white’s keen sense of electroreception, which allows them to sense the electrical charges in the water around them, making it difficult for sharks to detect the tank walls. 4. It’s Expensive From the very first steps of capturing and transporting a great white shark to keeping one in captivity, exhaustive resources are required. When the Monterey Bay Aquarium was tasked with transporting a 4-foot-long great white from Malibu to northern California in 2004, a custom mobile tank had to be built. 3. Not Good For Viewing The introduction of a great white shark exhibit would most likely result in many disappointed customers. A tank large enough to accommodate a great white shark would be impractical in size, making it difficult for hopeful spectators to catch a consistent, close view of the predator. 2. They Do Not Survive in Captivity Generally, there are two possible outcomes when a great white is placed in confinement: death or release back into the wild after a short stint at an aquarium, usually refusing to eat and injuring itself. 1. Public Perception Is Changing Information about the effects of confinement on certain species has become more transparent and accessible than ever in recent years. Documentaries such as Blackfish and The Cove have brought widespread attention to the inhumane nature of keeping marine life in captivity.
