Shadow Stripe Ribbed Socks Dark Navy Blue and Royal Blue - https://gentl.mn/2guGBq7 As you know, first impressions count. According to a 2000 article of the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, the outward appearance and what you wear is a top factor and how you're perceived by others. So what should you wear? Let's start with a hallmark of a lawyers wardrobe which is the suit. I'm wearing right here right now single breasted, go with a notched lapel, ideally you have some cuffs at the bottom or you can go without a cuff maybe you want pleats maybe you just want an iron crease. Overall, a two-piece suit is a good way to start. As an attorney you want to wear neckwear. Traditionally it's a necktie. I would stay clear of bowties because they're a little too flashy. Of course you should choose the right tie. So forget all the 90s ties and the hand-me-downs from your uncle's because they look very dated and not professional. In terms of colors, tones of red, burgundy, navy and blue are best. Alternatively you can go with other subdued colors such as maybe a bottle green or a very dark orange or yellow. If you want to maybe even a very dark purple. In any case you want subtle and not bright. Stay clear of shiny satin ties because they make you look cheap. No attorneys outfit is complete without proper over the calf socks. A lot of lawyers out there wear short socks that expose their calf. Not only is it unprofessional but nobody wants to see your exposed leg hair. The golden rule is to pair the color of the socks with a pair of your pants and your suit. The problem is it's very difficult to match because there are hundreds of shades of navy. With accessories, the same rule applies as with all other things in a lawyer's outfit. Keep it simple. If you wear a French cuff or double cuff shirt go with simple cufflinks in gold or silver. Stay clear of precious stones, maybe semi precious stones in multiple colors as well as enamel. It's simply over the top. The ideal pair of gloves for a lawyer is not black but gray because it provides a contrast. It pairs with everything that you have in your wardrobe. At the same time, it's not is boring as black. It's always professional and understated. For a selection of nice cashmere scarves and grey gloves please check out our shop here. When it comes to shoes I think most lawyers underestimate their impact. When it comes to suits, you can have a $5,000 bespoke suit but if you wear it with cheap shoes it ruins the entire look. Apart from oxfords and derbies you may also want to investigate a monk strap shoe or maybe a double monk strap shoe. Now I'm not saying you have to invest $500 in your dress shoes. You can find Goodyear welted ones starting at $200. But in general the more you pay the better the leather, the more comfortable and the better the last so you're comfortable all day. The first pair of shoes you should invest in is a black cap toe oxford shoe. Oh one more thing, you're a lawyer so wear a proper briefcase and skip the backpack. That makes you look like a boy and really cheap and it's inappropriate. #whattowearasalwayer #professionalmen #notsponsored -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Most Popular videos: How to accept a compliment - https://youtu.be/_EKXNmM1PUo 101 things that change when you dress up - https://youtu.be/JyGDd_iYaCI How to tie a Bow Tie - https://youtu.be/2I3cfa0BOOc --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? Real Lawyer Reacts to Suits (Episode 2 - Cell Phone Patent Problems!)

19:21
Harvey and Mike should get disbarred...again. You can learn more at https://curiositystream.com/legaleagle You guys asked for it: more analysis of Suits! This is episode 2 of the first season. For some reason Harvey is putting together a VC deal and waits to file a patent until after he talks to investors. Regardless of Mike’s screw up (failing to file the patent), Harvey is the one that should have patented the cell phone LONG before. These guys are supposed to be good lawyers right? SUITS has been highly requested; probably the most requested show on this channel. I think I missed Suits the first time around since I had already graduated from law school when it came out. But I’m glad I got a chance to watch this. This week i’m deconstructing the first episode of Suits. I get asked a lot about whether being a practicing attorney is like being a lawyer on TV. I love watching legal movies and courtroom dramas. It's one of the reasons I decided to become a lawyer. But sometimes they make me want to pull my hair out because they are ridiculous. Today I'm taking a break from teaching law students how to kick ass in law school to take on lawyers in the movies and on TV. While all legal movies and shows take dramatic license to make things more interesting (nobody wants to see hundreds of hours of brief writing), many of them have a grain of truth. Real Lawyer vs. Movie Lawyer | Lawyer Reacts to A Few Good Men, 12 Angry Men, & Erin Brockovich

I get asked a lot about whether being a practicing attorney is like being a lawyer on TV. Like most people, I love watching legal movies and courtroom dramas. It's one of the reasons I decided to become a lawyer. But sometimes they make me want to pull my hair out because they are ridiculous. Today I'm taking a break from teaching law students how to kick ass in law school. This one is just for fun. In this video I tackle some of the most famous courtroom scenes in Hollywood history including A Few Good Men, 12 Angry Men, The Dark Knight, and Erin Brockovich. Great dramas, but BAD lawyering. They are preposterous, but I still love watching them. SUIT UP! Even if you're not a lawyer, you can still dress like one. All of my suits are from BlackLapel (I've used them exclusively for over five years). Their custom suits are amazing, yet still ridiculously affordable. HIGHLY recommended: https://go.magik.ly/ml/f78n/ (affiliate link, which helps out the channel) I hope this will be the first video in a series of "Lawyer Reacts" videos. Be one of the first 200 people to sign up with this link and get 20% off your subscription with Brilliant.org! https://brilliant.org/legaleagle Another legal drama from Shona Rhimes? Oh no. Except this one is kinda realistic! For the People follows the lives of a handful of Federal prosecutors and Federal Public defenders in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York -- aka the Mother Court (I really think this show was originally going to be called “The Mother Court” and then they changed the name at the last second. The SDNY is the oldest and most prestigious district court in the nation. The brand new lawyers (including a bunch of Supreme Court Clerks, obviously since this is a Shona Rhimes show) work for both the defense and the prosecution as they handle the most high profile and high stakes cases in the country - all as their personal lives intersect. Real Lawyer Reacts to How to Get Away With Murder (Episode 1)

23:05
Annalise Keating is an unorthodox law professor. Instead of being a “good” law professor or actually “teaching” she makes her students unpaid interns for her criminal defense law firm. Drama! Mystery! Legal technicalities! Today we’re going to review How to Get Away With Murder. Stay until the end for my Legal Realism Grade! This one was a bear. It made me want to pull my hair out. Men in Black Caught on Tape (Real Footage)

10:06
This video was sent to us via email by a man who works as a security guard for a law office in Alaska. He was able to catch something extremely strange on a security camera in the main lobby. What you’re about to see is immensely bizarre. Watch this and decide for yourself. Due to the appearance of the strange man, many people online have come to the conclusion that this is an actual sighting of the infamous men in black, who are said to be the ones who keep witnesses of strange events quiet about what they have seen. After watching this footage, several very large questions remain. Where is Nicole, and what was on the camera that she gave to the strange man? People love The Good Wife. They tell me it's one of the most accurate legal dramas on TV. Well, we'll find out! Real Lawyer Reacts to Better Call Saul (Episode 1)

14:26
Why do bad things happen to good lawyers? Before he was Saul Goodman he was Jimmy McGill -- but he was always a great lawyer. Today we’re going to review Better Call Saul. Stay until the end for my Legal Realism Grade! I loved Breaking Bad. And Saul Goodman was one of my favorite characters. Despite being down on his luck and faking his own name, he somehow always managed to give good legal advice to certain meth dealers in Albuquerque. Not surprisingly I REALLY enjoyed this show. Real Lawyer Reacts to Liar Liar (Part 1)

27:21
Jim Carrey (as attorney Fletcher Reede) is struck by a magic spell and can’t lie. But is he a good lawyer? Today we’re going to review one of the funniest legal movies of all time: Liar Liar. Stay until the end for my Legal Realism Grade! ★ SUIT UP! Even if you're not a lawyer, you can still DRESS LIKE A LAWYER. All of my suits are from BlackLapel (I've used them exclusively for over five years). Their custom suits are amazing, yet still ridiculously affordable. Huge selection and great prices: https://go.magik.ly/ml/ftki/ The last time I watched Liar Liar, I wasn’t yet an attorney myself. I remember watching Liar Liar years and thinking how cool it would be to become a lawyer myself. That was obviously a long time ago. It was great to be able to watch the movie with fresh eyes and know which parts were realistic and which were not. I practiced in Los Angeles for a long time, so I recognized a lot of my old haunts including the office parks and courthouses. Surprisingly, I think the movie is funnier now having years of experience as an attorney. Stay tuned until next week when I release my reaction to the second half of the movie. I'm going to go in-depth into whether the prenup is void and whether the wife's fraud invalidates the entire marriage. Would you like me to react to another one? Let me know in the comments! Real Lawyer Reacts to Miracle on 34th Street

24:00
When a nice old man who claims to be Santa Claus is institutionalized as insane, a young lawyer decides to defend him by arguing in court that he is the real thing. Only the lawyers can save the day in this Christmas classic. Just like in real life! Stay until the end for my Legal Realism Grade! Miracle on 34th Street (the 1947 version) is probably my favorite holiday movie. Where else are you able to get a great courtroom drama and a holiday message of good cheer in the same movie? I was really worried to review this movie looking for legal accuracy, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it holds up! New episodes weekly! Check out what’s on my list (as well as the best books for Law School and all of my favorite camera gear): https://www.amazon.com/shop/legaleagle Summary of the movie (from IMDB) if you’ve never seen it: At the Macy's Department Store Thanksgiving Day parade, the actor playing Santa is discovered to be drunk by a whiskered old man. Doris Walker, the no nonsense special events director, persuades the old man to take his place. The old man proves to be a sensation and is quickly recruited to be the store Santa at the main Macy's outlet. While he is successful, Ms. Walker learns that he calls himself Kris Kringle and he claims to be the actual Santa Claus. Despite reassurances by Kringle's doctor that he is harmless, Doris still has misgivings, especially when she has cynically trained herself, and especially her daughter, Susan, to reject all notions of belief and fantasy. And yet, people, especially Susan, begin to notice there is something special about Kris and his determination to advance the true spirit of Christmas amidst the rampant commercialism around him and succeeding in improbable ways. When a raucous conflict with the store's cruelly incompetent psychologist erupts, Kris finds himself held at Bellevue where, in despair, he deliberately fails a mental examination to ensure his commitment. All seems lost until Doris' friend, Fred Gaily, reassures Kris of his worth and agrees to represent him in the fight to secure his release. To achieve that, Fred arranges a formal hearing in which he argues that Kris is sane because he is in fact Santa Claus. What ensues is a bizarre hearing in which people's beliefs are reexamined and put to the test, but even so, it's going to take a miracle for Kris to win. I get asked a lot about whether being a practicing attorney is like being a lawyer on TV. I love watching legal movies and courtroom dramas. It's one of the reasons I decided to become a lawyer. Trial Trivia: Why Do Best Trial Lawyers Wear Dark Suits? NY Personal Injury Attorney Explains

Trial Trivia: Why Do Best Trial Lawyers Wear Dark Suits? NY Personal Injury Attorney Gerry Oginski Explains http://www.oginski-law.com/faqs/who-is-the-best-medical-malpractice-trial-lawyer-in-new-york.cfm 516-487-8207 Email: [email protected] The next time you go into court, take a quick glance at what the plaintiff's attorney is wearing. If you're called for jury duty and are selected to go into a room with 25 other people, take a quick glance at what the attorneys are wearing. In all likelihood, the attorney with the dark blue suit, crisp white shirt and red power tie is likely the attorney for the injured victim, known as the plaintiff's attorney. This trivia tip is simply an observation from practicing law more than 26 years here in New York. Attorneys who handle medical malpractice cases, accident cases and wrongful death cases typically will wear a dark suit, power tie and a crisp white shirt along with black shoes when they pick a jury and try their case. That's our 'uniform'. But there's a key psychological motivating reason why really good attorneys wear this type of 'uniform' in court. There's an import psychological reason why lawyers dress the way they do, especially trial lawyers. Watch the video to learn more... NY Lawyer Guarantees He Will Be Wearing Suit & Tie; Personal Injury Attorney Gerry Oginski Explains

03:20
NY Lawyer Guarantees He Will Be Wearing Suit & Tie Personal Injury Attorney Gerry Oginski Explains http://www.oginski-law.com/library/lawyer-guarantees-that-have-nothing-to-do-with-outcome.cfm 516-487-8207 Email: [email protected] If you ever walk into court here in New York you're going to notice something immediately. You'll notice that the men are typically wearing a suit and tie. The women are often wearing a pants suit or a dress. You can usually spot the attorneys from a mile away. Wearing a suit and tie is pretty much the standard uniform for an attorney, at least for a man. Most male attorneys will also be wearing black shoes and often have either a black briefcase or brown briefcase. For some reason, that seems to be the standard obligatory clothing for an attorney while in court. Imagine if an attorney here in New York were to create a marketing message where he guaranteed that he and his associates would always be wearing a suit and tie when entering court. You think this guarantee would be useful to you, an injured consumer looking to hire the right attorney to solve your legal problem? In my opinion, the answer is no. The fact that an attorney would be wearing a suit and tie is really meaningless. Since every lawyer is expected to dress professionally when appearing before a judge, the mere fact that one lawyer guarantees that his attorneys will be wearing a suit and tie is not only a ridiculous guarantee that one but I don't think any lawyer in NY would ever make. More importantly, that type of guarantee does nothing for you to help you distinguish one lawyer from another. Watch the video to learn more... Here's a cardiac malpractice case where I was able to achieve a $6 million dollar settlement for my client: http://www.oginski-law.com/video/cardiac-malpractice-in-ny.cfm Here's a foot surgery case where a Westchester, NY jury awarded my client $1.55 million dollars for her pain and suffering: http://ow.ly/azKg6 To learn more about how medical malpractice cases work in the state of New York, I encourage you to explore my educational website, ‪http://www.oginski-law.com/library/lawyer-guarantees-that-have-nothing-to-do-with-outcome.cfm. Man dragged off United flight has concussion, will file suit, lawyer says

01:45
(CNN)The passenger forcefully removed from a United Airlines flight this week has a concussion and broken nose, his attorney told reporters Thursday, adding that the 69-year-old physician will file a lawsuit. Already, attorneys have filed a chancery motion asking that all evidence in the case be preserved. David Dao's attorney, Thomas Demetrio, would not provide a timeline for filing the lawsuit other than to say he had two years to do so, and "I promise you it won't be that long. ""If you're going to eject a passenger, under no circumstances can it be done with unreasonable force or violence. That's the law," he said. "For a long time, airlines -- United, in particular -- have bullied us. . .

Lawyer Dodges Bullets

William Striler said he pulled a revolver from his coat and fired six shots at attorney Gerry Curry, 53 ito express his dissatisfaction in Curry's handling of his case. The victim ducked behind a small tree to avoid being shot, but was struck multiple times. In the end, Curry made a complete recovery. Striler had received a $100,000 personal injury settlement after an accident. However, the majority of the $100,000 settlement was placed into a trust by the court so that it could be used for Striler's medical care and physical therapy. Striler, who was sixty-three years old at the time of the shooting, was dissatified with this arrangement. As a result, he retained legal counsel so that he could get direct access to the money. The trustee who was appointed to oversee Striler's funds contested the suit and retained the services of Gerald Curry. According to his own statements, Striler was incensed by the fact that Curry's fees were being paid out of his $100,000. I'd be pissed too if the legal system was leeching out of my settlement but I'm also a better shot. Curry made a complete recovery. William Striler, who lived in Thousand Oaks, California, had a history of violence. In 1969, Striler was arrested after shooting a neighbor four times. However, because Striler claimed to have a psychiatric condition, his sentence was reduced. In 2005, a jury convicted Striler of attempted first-degree murder. On March 17, 2006, Judge Rand Rubin sentenced Striler to life in prison, plus twenty-five years. In addition, Striler was ordered to pay a $10,000 fine and $3,000 in restitution to Curry.
