Valhalla Memorial Park in North Hollywood

11:11
Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery is located at 10621 Victory Boulevard in North Hollywood, California. The cemetery has a special section called the Portal of the Folded Wings Shrine to Aviation that is the final resting place for a number of aviation pioneers — barnstormers, daredevils and sundry architects of aviation. There is a memorial to Amelia Earhart and others, honoring their accomplishments. Among those interred here are several celebrities from the entertainment industry. The shrine, with a colorful tile dome and female figures stretching their arms to the heavens, originally was built as an impressive entrance to Valhalla Memorial Park cemetery. It was named for the palace of Odin, the Norse god of slain heroes. FAMOUS GRAVE TOUR: Frank & Barbara Sinatra, William Powell & Others At Desert Park Memorial

15:07
On this Memorial Day I remember my first visit to the Punchbowl, or the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific and the USS Arizona memorial in Honolulu, Hawaii. It was my first visit to a cemetery and I've been visiting cemeteries ever since. I also remember my great grandfather, grandfather, uncle and brother who all served in the armed forces. Thankfully, none of them died during their service, but they have all passed on since, but are not forgotten. George Barris Memorial Hollywood Forest Lawn Glendale Cemetery Funeral Kustom Car Batman Munsters

22:38
George Barris: King of the Kustomizers was celebrated today 11-28-2015 at Forest Lawn in Hollywood, and laid to rest at Forest Lawn Glendale. I would say at least a thousand people attended. My family was lucky enough to attend as well as his 88th birthday celebration nearly two years ago. He inspired multitudes of people in the auto industry, and was a true artist. Some of his creations include the Batmobile, The Munsters Koach, The Dragula, and many other vehicles. His work changed how vehicles are designed forever, and you will never see a tv show, or movie that has not incorporated his stylings. He was also a very nice man, and a brother in the lord, and I look forward to seeing him again.

Frank Baum, and Casey Stengel. There are MANY more people buried here, including Michael Jackson. Forest Lawn, as we know it, was born in 1917, when Dr. Hubert Eaton, a firm believer in a joyous life after death, took over management. He had become convinced that most current cemeteries were "unsightly, depressing stoneyards," and pledged to create one that would reflect his optimistic beliefs, a cemetery that would be as unlike other cemeteries "as sunlight is unlike darkness, as eternal life is unlike death." Forest Lawn was designed to captivate visitors, and it does so quite well. The "Golden Age" Hollywood stars buried here include some of the biggest names in the history of Hollywood: Clark Gable, Carole Lombard, Jimmy Stewart, Jean Harlow, Humphrey Bogart, Mary Pickford, Errol Flynn, Spencer Tracy... No other cemetery can match the sheer number of superstars that you'll find buried here at Forest Lawn Glendale. That includes George Burns & Gracie Allen, W.C. Fields, Tom Mix, Sammy Davis Jr., Walt Disney, Red Skelton, Robert Young, Lon Chaney, Ethel Waters, Alan Ladd, Dick Powell, Robert Taylor, Wallace Beery, Ted Knight, Sam Cooke, Joe E. Brown, Sydney Greenstreet, Nat King Cole, Jack Oakie, Ed Wynn, Jack Carson, Norma Shearer, Chico Marx, Dorothy Dandridge, Robert Cummings, Sid Grauman, Dan Daily, William Boyd ("Hopalong Cassidy"), Marie Dressler ("Tugboat Annie"), Irving Thalberg, Casey Stengel, Larry Fine, Aimee Semple McPherson, Edward Everett Horton and Jean Hersholt, plus authors Louis L'Amour, Theodore Dreiser and L. Frank Baum. Check out this link for more information on this cemetery and others in the Los Angeles area - http://www.seeing-stars.com/Buried2/ForestLawnGlendale.shtml

FAMOUS GRAVES - Pierce Brothers' Westwood Village Memorial Park, Los Angeles

10:02
Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/thehistoryguy25 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehistorygu... Twitter: https://twitter.com/thehistoryguy25 Email: [email protected] More on this famous graveyard here - http://www.seeing-stars.com/Buried2/PierceBros.shtml Pierce Bros Westwood Village Memorial Park is hidden behind the towering high-rises that line busy Wilshire Boulevard; you could easily drive right past the park without even realizing it was there. Yet at this tiny cemetery near UCLA, you will find the final resting places of some of the most famous stars in Hollywood, including Marilyn Monroe, Donna Reed, Dean Martin, Natalie Wood, Roy Orbison, Carroll O'Connor, Jack Lemmon, Walter Matthau, Don Knotts, Eddie Albert, Peggy Lee, Mel Torme, George C. Scott, Burt Lancaster, Eve Arden, Carl Wilson, Eva Gabor, Florence Henderson, Doris Roberts, Wayne Rogers, and Truman Capote. If you had to choose only one Hollywood cemetery to visit, Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park would be your best bet. It is a small, intimate park (just two and a half acres), where the stars' graves are fairly easily located (unlike the massive Forest Lawns), yet there are numerous major celebrities buried here. It is also noted as the final resting place of many of Hollywood's young actresses who died tragically before their time. Popular with the show biz crowd (especially since Marilyn was buried here), Pierce Brothers is tucked away on the south side of Wilshire Boulevard in Westwood, and its almost impossible to find without specific directions. It can't be reached from either the north, south or east sides - the only entrance is on the west side, from Glendon Avenue. Ironically, this final resting place for Hollywood stars is located just a few steps away from the iPic movie theatres on Wilshire Boulevard. Most movie-goers there are probably unaware that they are only a few yards away from some of the most famous stars in the history of Hollywood. The Westwood Village Memorial Park is a very small, quiet, well-kept cemetery, with a single circular road which allows visitors to drive directly into the park. This road circles a grassy oval lawn where most of the stars are buried. To the south side of this grassy oval are offices; the northern and eastern borders of the park are lined by walls of outdoor crypts.

This is a video I took of the cemetery - just after the Northridge Earthquake. The damage is evident - but also the cemetery is in shambles. This is during the reign of Jules Roth - a crook that robbed from the dead. Since Roth's death, the cemetery has been purchased by the Cassidy Brothers and is always in the process of being restored and improved. I had just purchased a new video camera, thus the zooms and pans.

FAMOUS GRAVE TOUR: Walking Tour Of The Historic Savannah Memorial Park Cemetery In Rosemead, CA

09:26
FAMOUS GRAVES TOUR - Savannah Memorial Park Cemetery in Rosemead, is a California Historic Landmark. It's a tiny American graveyard with a huge history and many surprising, and even shocking, residents. One of my favorites is William "Billy" L. Dodson, an early Los Angeles area female impersonator and performer. You don't hear of many "drag queen performers" from the early 1900s. That's one of the reasons I love visiting cemeteries. You just never know who you're going to discover. It's also one of the best kept secrets when it comes to final resting places in Southern California. For more information, visit their website at: http://www.savannahcemetery.org/ 9263 Valley Blvd., Rosemead, California, 91770

Hillside Memorial Cemetery

03:12
A visit to Hillside Memorial Cemetery, a Jewish cemetery in Los Angeles, California. Here can be found many celebrities in extremely well-kept and immaculate surroundings including Lorne Greene, Jack Benny, Moe Howard, Milton Berle and Shelley Winters. Most impressive of all is the Al Jolson fountain which takes up a large part of the grounds. Under the rotunda at the top of the fountain can be found the sarcophagus containing Jolson's coffin. Next to it is a large bronze statue of Al in his Mammy pose from The Jazz Singer. The place is very impressive and well worth a visit.
