Welcome!! ~ Feel free to Like & Subscribe ~ - The giant squid (genus Architeuthis) is a deep-ocean dwelling squid in the family Architeuthidae. Giant squid can grow to a tremendous size due to deep-sea gigantism: recent estimates put the maximum size at 13 m (43 ft) for females and 10 m (33 ft) for males from the posterior fins to the tip of the two long tentacles. The mantle is about 2 m (6.6 ft) long, and the length of the squid excluding its tentacles (but including head and arms) rarely exceeds 5 m (16 ft). Claims of specimens measuring 20 m (66 ft) or more have not been scientifically documented. The number of different giant squid species has been debated, but recent genetic research suggests that only one species exists. - For more interesting documentaries click https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX_3HLU68yH5hMSg8rklnyw

Largest Squid Ever Captured Alive - Massive Colossal Squid, 1st full specimen & biggest discovered in the world. The largest and perhaps one of the rarest squid in the world is the colossal squid. We're going to check out footage of the biggest one ever caught and learn exactly what makes them so unique. The colossal squid was first discovered in 1925 when fisherman removed its head and arms from inside the stomach of a sperm whale. Since then only 8 colossal squids have been found. 6 of which were inside whales, all of them... females as a male specimen has never been seen. The most recent finding and biggest squid ever caught was in 2007 and measured at 33 feet long. It was caught by accident as it attacked a big toothfish, Patagonian toothfish, that was already hooked on a fisherman's line. Antartica's Ross Sea The monster squid refused to let go of it's meal as it took the fishermen over 2 hours to bring onto the boat. This colossal squid is currently on display at a national museum in New Zealand. Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni Scientific Name It's the largest known invertebrate in the world as scientists estimate these squids to grow up to 46 feet in length. They have 3 hearts, bleed blue blood and have the largest eyes of any living creature in the world. This deep sea monster has 8 different sized arms and 2 tentacles like most squid, however, they are the only species with rotating hooks which are used to grab and hold onto their prey All squid have an Ink Sac which they use to squirt into the water producing a large dark cloud to help them escape from predators. In the case of the colossal squid, no one has ever seen what it's ink looks like, so we can't be sure how the squid uses it. Since there is no light in the deep sea, a dark ink would be useless, therefore some believe that the colossal squid may produce a luminescent colored ink. Because they live deep with in the ocean depths in freezing Antarctic waters and only a few have ever been caught, no one truly knows just how large this squid actually grows as there is still a lot to learn about this mysterious deep sea creature. If you like giant squids, you might like our Kickstarter: zalendar.org. This is a spliced video of the key squid footage from Discovery Channel's "Monster Squid" broadcast on January 27, 2013. Thank you Discovery Channel for broadcasting this program. This post is not for profit! I just want to share the joy for all those Ceph-heads out there. According to Dr. Tsunemi Kubodera, "it was missing two of its longest tentacles, which means its original length may have been closer to eight meters – a little more than 26 feet."

Giant Squids have been known to roam the oceans for many years, but not until recently have we gotten photographic proof of that thanks to advances in technology. ________________________ This video was also submitted by Vincent Jap ________________________ In this video, however, everyday people like you and me get to see a giant squid up close and personal… The video was submitted by Udara Shashipriya and Katona Zalán. It only shows one picture but claims the picture is of a giant squid that was washed up on a beach in New Zealand. But is this picture for real? Or is this just another big fat fake - that’s what Udara and Katona want to know. Looking closer at the video, I see it was posted by a youtube channel called Absolutely Incredible… The title mentions the beach where the squid supposedly washed up. On a hunch, I looked up the closest police station to that beach and gave them a call to see if they had heard of this incident. It must have been huge news. The information, I received from the police led to this… the official answer. Here we go. and I quote: The picture claiming to show a giant squid washed up on a beach in New Zealand has been thoroughly examined. From this examination, the picture has been determined to be… 100%... beyond any shadow of a doubt... a big fat fake… According to my police informants in New Zealand, there was a squid that washed ashore, but it was on the opposite coast at a place called Kaikoura. it was also much smaller than the one pictured in the video.

What If The Kraken Was Real? *NEW* CHANNEL - Fortnite Central: http://bit.ly/2HeBjNR The Kraken is a giant monster squid from Jules Verne’s iconic book, 20 thousand leagues under the sea. It also has its roots in fisherman’s tales from Norway and Greenland. The scary thing about the Kraken, if you can’t see it coming. It waits under your boat in the dark water. Legend has it that if you start catching too many fish, you should away row for your life, because the Kraken might be under your boat, scaring the fish so they swim up to the surface. As far as we know, the Kraken is just a legend. Real SEA MONSTER! 70 foot long hybrid GIANT SQUID-SHARK found near Malaga, Spain February 25, 2015! The strange cryptid animal reportedly washed ashore in the early hours of Wednesday the 25th of February 2015. Reputedly measuring over 70 feet in length and weighing several tonnes, this unique specimen completely amazed and baffled local residents, fisherman and scientists alike... until an as yet unnamed government entity arrived, began barking instructions, cordoned the area and swiftly dragged the strange creature out to sea. Why would the authorities act in such a manner? What were they trying to hide? And it seems they've now gone to quite draconian and extraordinary lengths to silence discussion as well as remove any trace of this creature's existence from the public domain -- a Google search for instance will not return any relevant results; the giant squid-shark has -- at least for the time being -- been swept under a giant proverbial carpet. Although please rest assured that the tireless team here at Absolutely Incredible Videos will continue to investigate, and, we will of course endeavour to disseminate any further information as vigilantly, promptly and widely as humanly possible. Is the Kracken real? Or just an average GIANT squid?? Take a look for yourself. Full story: Depictions of the Kraken, a dangerous giant sea creature, has been fascinating humankind for ages. The legend may have actually originated from sightings of real giant squid variously estimated to be 40-50 feet long. Living in the depths of the ocean, legend says the Kraken would surface and attack passing ships. While the Kracken may be a myth, it still lives on in some of Hollywood's biggest films. In "Pirates of the Caribbean" by Walt Disney Pictures, the sea monster stars alongside Johnny Dep and Orlando Bloom, doing exactly what legends suggested it would. The movie was a huge success, grossing over $600 million. But that was not the last feature for the Kraken. In 2010, it again wreaked havoc in the Warner Bros's, "Clash of the Titans." The film was another blockbuster, raking in $493 million worldwide. While nothing to date fits quite that description-- extremely large squid DO exist. The Discovery Channel recently released a new documentary called "Monster Squid: The Giant Is Real." According to producers, the show includes the "first footage of the giant squid ever recorded in its natural habitat". The giant squid was discovered at about one thousand feet below sea level off the Japanese Ogasawara Islands. It hovers over a man-made lighted orb that mimics a sea creature's bioluminescent glow. Here the giant squid chews on a large squid that was used as bait to lure it in. The Discovery Chanel premiered "Monster Squid: The Giant Is Real." last Sunday, January 27th. Humboldt squid are among the largest of squids, reaching a mantle length of 1.5 m (4 ft 11 in). They have a reputation for aggression towards humans, though this behavior may possibly only be manifested during feeding times. Like other members of the subfamily Ommastrephinae, they possess bioluminescent photophores and are capable of quickly changing body coloration (metachrosis). They notably rapidly flash red and white while hunting, earning them the name diablo rojo (Spanish for "red devil") among fishermen. These chromatophores (which belong to more than one set and are of different sizes) may rapidly cycle through colors other than red and white, flashing too quickly for the human eye to see the transitions. They can live up to two years. What are the biggest creatures in the world? If you wanna find the true giants of this planet, you’ll need to head into the ocean. Without the force of gravity pulling them down, marine animals can reach unimaginable sizes. TIMESTAMPS: The Giant Clam 1:37 The Giant Spider Crab 2:41 The Great White Shark 3:45 The Whale Shark 4:52 The Fin Whale 5:49 The Lion’s Mane Jellyfish 6:39 The Blue Whale 7:53 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - Giant Clams are the largest mollusks in the world. They can grow around 4 feet in length and weigh more than 440 pounds. - The giant spider crab lives in the waters near Japan. Their legs reach about 11.5 feet from claw to claw and the body can be around 14.5 inches in diameter, which is pretty small compared to their long long limbs. - The great white gets its name from its distinct white belly under its grey body. As for the “great” part, that’s simply because some of them can grow over 20 feet long! As for your average great white shark, it’s usually about 15 feet in length, making it the largest predatory fish in the world. - The whale sharks are covered in white spots that have a unique design for each individual shark. The whale shark ranges in size from 18 to 32.8 feet and can weigh about 20.6 tons. - The fin whale can get up to 85 feet long. That’s the length of two school buses! It can weigh up to 75 tons, which is about as much as a space shuttle! - The lion’s mane jellyfish can get up to 120 feet long, putting the lion’s mane jellyfish among the ranks of the world’s longest animals and certainly the largest jellyfish species. It likes to float in the open ocean, where it feeds on zooplankton, small crustaceans, fish, and even other types of jellyfish. - The blue whale is the largest animal this planet as ever seen, and it still swims the oceans today. They range from 82 feet to 105 feet in length and weigh up to a massive 200 tons. That’s as much as an empty Boeing 747! Check out these 10 sea monsters attacking a boat! This top 10 list of ocean creatures like whales and great white sharks attacking a ship shows some bizarre stories caught on camera! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "MYSTERIOUS Creatures Living At The BOTTOM Of The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/Efhjc-Gu508 Watch our "SECRETS Casinos DON'T Want You To Find Out!" video here: https://youtu.be/hAoABuvzOZM Watch our "RAREST And Most EXPENSIVE Cars In The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/MtCnWSqqilg 10. Great White Shark If you’ve been on a boat out on the ocean, a Jaws attack has probably crossed your mind. Even if it’s just barely!! Then of course you rationalize that the chances of that happening are practically 0. Practically. That’s what Terry Selwood, a 73-year-old Australian fisherman learned in 2017, when a great white shark leapt out of the water, into his boat!! 9. An Eagle Ray Rays seem like beautiful, serene creatures - but they can be extremely dangerous, even if you’re on the relative safety of a large tourist boat. In 2011, Jenny Hausch had rented a 26-foot catamaran for her family to take a trip in Florida. Sounds really nice right? 8. Swordfish In 2017, Alan Pope, a British tourist, was on a boat trip getting ready to go snorkeling in Indonesia when everything went horribly wrong. Without any warning, a swordfish jumped out of the water and into the boat, and impaled his neck with its bill. The end snapped off, and left six inches of the sword still jabbed inside his neck, just millimeters from instantly killing him. 7. Sperm Whales The Gulf of Alaska is a prime fishing location, especially for those trying to catch black cod. In these waters, though, there is a much larger creature that also likes eating the fish- sperm whales. They are the ocean’s largest toothed predators, and while they are quite capable of catching food for themselves, they much prefer taking the easy route. 6. Giant Squid Mostly creatures of legend, giant squids are mentioned in many old mariners tales of dangers at sea. But they are rarely seen, let alone involved in attacking boats. So when a team of French sailors came face to face with one in 2003, they almost didn’t believe it!! 5. Bull Shark You might think that a great white shark would be the most problematic shark species to boats, but there’s another type that can be more aggressive, and more likely to risk an encounter. 4. Jellyfish Sometimes it’s the smallest things that can have the biggest effect, something that became ever so apparent in 2017 when Chinese scientists were investigating why their aircraft carriers were experiencing difficulties. They found that large swarms of Jellyfish were getting caught up in the propulsion systems! This would stop the ships dead in their tracks, or cause the engines to overheat and cause extreme damage. 3. Mako Shark This next story took place just last year, 2017 in Long Island, New York. A fishing charter boat was taking guests to the location where they find the widest variety of fish, when suddenly a Mako shark jumped onto the side of the boat. Unfortunately for the fish, it managed to get itself stuck in the handrail of the boat and, despite thrashing about, it couldn’t free itself. 2. Black Marlin Game fishing is a popular pastime for many enthusiasts, but when you’re chasing after some of the largest and most powerful marine creatures on earth, you have to be ready for the unpredictable. Again last year, things went very wrong indeed for a fishing boat off the coast of Panama. They had caught a black marlin, a species that can weight up to 1500 pounds and reach speeds of up to 50 miles per hour. 1. Killer Whale If you’ve ever watched a nature documentary that’s featured Killer Whales, you’ll be all too familiar how organised and clever they can be. Pods work together to catch prey, and even tilt ice flows to trap seals. When they turn these skills towards human activity, the results can be frightening. Found Sea Monster Is A Giant Squid In Fernandina Beach After speculation from passersby that this thing was a giant squid, octopus, or a large discarded piece of meat from a cruise ship. I came back with my roommate who had a lot of experience carving fish and a camera. After I flipped it over and it settled a bit more flat I decided with about 90% certainty that it was a significantly decayed Sunfish carcass.

You won't believe that fishermen actually caught these gigantic sea monsters! Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/9CwQhg SyFy recently aired the third film in their so-bad-its-good “Sharknado” series, prompting some to wonder if airborne, tornado-based sharks could actually be real. Okay, so no one is really wondering that. Still, though, the ocean continues to represent a great unknown to us, providing home to countless species, many of which remain a mystery to humanity. The more we learn about what lurks deep below the surface, the more we realize still remains uncovered. With two-thirds of the Earth’s surface covered in water, it stands to reason that a great deal of that space remains unexplored. Of course, just because humankind hasn’t covered every iota of ground along the ocean floor, it doesn’t mean that those areas are uninhabited. All we know for sure is that the truly deepest depths of the world’s oceans continue to offer surprises, even as scientific technology becomes increasingly advanced. New species unlike any others known before are routinely discovered, with entirely new and alien biomes in extreme environments that no life had even been thought possible have challenged our very notions of what life is and how it has evolved. Amidst the cold darkness of a low-lying ocean area with depths that no sunlight can penetrate lies an alien world of incredibly rare and mysterious species. While many are simple, harmless omnivores, they share the ocean floor with some pretty unsettling forces. These ocean-based creatures – those that we know about, anyway – change everything we think we know about fish. Each one has at least one predominant feature that stands out as being unlike anything seen before. Think you know sharks? Well, how about one with a saw-like nose or a frilly, eel-like body. Think you’ve seen some big fish? How about a 17-metre long swimmer or a 900-pound squid or even a 5,000-pound behemoth sunfish? Lurking within the ocean are a number of deadly, threatening, vicious creatures that are naturally designed and programmed to hunt and stalk their prey. Thankfully, most of these monsters live at pressures that humans could never survive at – not that they would survive long down there, anyway. In recent years, Hollywood has sparked a fascination with zombies, aliens and other forces that exist beyond the realms of our planet and that are not steeped in reality. Despite that, some of the strangest and most terrifying creatures in the universe lie beneath the surface of bodies of water with which we are, at least partially, familiar. As we sit on a beach staring out at the natural beauty of the Pacific Ocean, we remain blissfully oblivious to all that lurks within. This list seeks to open the door to an entire world of deep sea activity, featuring a cast of creepy and spooky characters that few even know exist. These 10 fish, some of whom may seem to be borne out of your darkest nightmares, are all very real and may give you second thoughts the next time you foray into the ocean. And these are just the ones we know about… Check out these other awesome videos! 10 Shockingly Large Creatures That Actually Exist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9odlL5Ti3dc 10 Things That Will Happen When Humans Go Extinct https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ml_awEqbEE Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheRichest.org Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheRichest_Com Instagram: http://instagram.com/therichest For more videos and articles visit: http://www.therichest.com/

There are millions of different animal species in the ocean, but only a few hold the distinction of being some of the largest sea creatures on the planet. Here you’ll see enormous squid, massive sharks, and whales that could dwarf even the most monstrous things we could ever imagine. These are the largest of the large water animals. These are the Biggest Sea Creatures in the World. Learn about the BIGGEST of everything Monday, Wednesday, and Friday just subscribe! 7. Colossal Squid These scarily large squids are also often called the Cranch Squid or the Antarctic Squid, and they’re thought to be the largest squid species by mass on Earth. They inhabit pretty much the entire Southern Ocean, from thousands of miles north of Antarctica to southern South Africa, New Zealand, and South America. As of now, estimates put their maximum size somewhere between 39 and 46 feet (12-14 meters) in length and their max weight around 1,650 pounds (750 kilograms). Do you want to hear something else that’s scary about them? Their limbs are lined with sharp, swiveling hooks, which they’re thought to use for hunting and protection. Yikes. 6. Basking Shark This big ol’ shark is the second largest living shark on the planet, behind just the whale shark. Said whale shark, the megamouth shark, and the basking shark are the only three plankton-eating shark species. They use their vast, gaping mouths to corral and ingest the plankton, which they filter from the water with their gills. The largest ever found specimen of basking shark was located in the Bay of Fundy in Canada back in 1851. The shark measured 40.3 feet (12.27 meters) and weighed roughly 18 short tons (16 long tons). On average, though, the sharks measure around 20 to 26 feet (6-8 meters) and weigh just 5.7 short tons (5.1 long tons). 5. Whale Shark These slow swimming sharks are the largest extant fish species and are classified as filter-feeding carpet sharks. That means that they filter particles and small animals such as plankton, fish eggs, krill, copepods, and more from the water to keep themselves fed and full. The big animals are found in basically all of the temperate and tropical seas all over the world, but don’t worry; even though these sharks are enormous, they pose no real threat to humans. In fact, younger whale sharks are known for being gentle and even playing around with divers. The average adult whale shark measures around 32 feet (9.8 meters) and 20,000 pounds (9 tons). The largest ever specimen caught was 41.5 feet (12.65 meters) long and weighed 47,000 pounds (21.5 tons), and it was caught in Karachi, Pakistan, near Baba Island on November 11, 1949. 4. Oarfish The next fish we’re going to look at belongs to the very small family Regalecidae, and are large, elongated lampriform fish that are typically found in the pelagic zone. They’re located in most tropical and temperate oceans around the world but are rarely seen by humans. There are three different kinds of oarfish, but the giant oarfish is what we’re focusing on here as it’s the longest bony fish on Earth and grows to around 36 feet (11 meters) in length. There are, however, unconfirmed reports of oarfish reaching 56 feet (17 meters) long and weighing upwards of 600 pounds (270 kg)! They eat shrimp, plankton, euphausiids, and other crustaceans. 3. Sperm Whale Also known as the cachalot, the sperm whale is the largest toothed predator and the largest of the toothed whales. They have an extensive range and migrate all over the place for breeding and feeding seasonally, and they don’t stay in one place for too long. Mature males usually grow to be around 52 feet (16 meters) long, although some can reach up to 67 feet (20.5 meters). Did you know that the head of the sperm whale makes up approximately one-third its total length? What a strange looking creature. In history, they’ve been said to be bigger than the 67 feet that they can reach today. The Nantucket Whaling Museum claims they have the 18-foot jawbone of a creature that once spanned 80 feet (24 meters). The whale that sank the Essex, an American whaling ship, in 1820, was thought to be 85 feet (26 meters) long. 2. Lion’s Mane Jellyfish This supremely big jellyfish is also known by the names hair jelly and giant jellyfish, and it’s the largest known jellyfish in the world. It's generally bound to the northern Pacific Ocean, northern Atlantic, and the boreal waters of the Arctic. The jellyfish found in the far north are typically significantly larger than those found farther south, with a bell diameter of 6 feet 7 inches (2 meters) versus just 20 inches (50 centimeters). They also have long, thin tentacles that can reach up and over 100 feet (30 meters) or more, and the specimen with the longest tentacles we know of came in at 120 feet (37 meters). They’re often found measuring longer than blue whales, so they have the distinction of being one of the longest animals in the world. 1...

Elliott Morgan from SourceFed comes back to DNews and talks with Anthony about just how terrifying (and awesome) squid and octopi are. Read More: First Footage of Deep-Sea Squid Solves Mystery of Lame Tentacle Club http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/running-ponies/2013/08/27/first-footage-of-deep-sea-squid-solves-mystery-of-lame-tentacle-club/ "Say what you want about squids -- too many arms, pointy head, not enough elbows: 2/10 would not take dancing -- but when it comes to killing things, they certainly aren't lacking in creativity." First in situ observations of the deep-sea squid Grimalditeuthis bonplandi reveal unique use of tentacles http://rspb.royalsocietypublishing.org/content/280/1769/20131463.full "The deep-sea squid Grimalditeuthis bonplandi has tentacles unique among known squids." Even Severed Octopus Arms Have Smart Moves http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/octopus-chronicles/2013/08/27/even-severed-octopus-arms-have-smart-moves/ "The eight wily arms of an octopus can help the animal catch dinner, open a jar and even complete a convincing disguise. But these arms are not entirely under the control of the octopus's brain. And new research shows just how deep their independence runs—even when they are detached." How Octopus Arms Regenerate With Ease http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/octopus-chronicles/2013/08/28/how-octopus-arms-regenerate-with-ease/ "Like a starfish, an octopus can regrow lost arms. Unlike a starfish, a severed octopus arm does not regrow another octopus. But the biological secrets inside their arm regeneration feat do hold the promise of learning more about how we might better regenerate our own diseased or lost tissue. If not whole limbs, at least perhaps fresh nerves or organ segments." Thinking like an octopus http://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2010/10/thinking-like-an-octopus/ "If you were an octopus, would you view the world from eight different points of view? Nine? The answer may depend on how many brains an octopus has, or, to say it another way, whether the robust bunches of neurons in its coiling, writhing, incredibly handy arms bestow on each of them something akin to a brain. Is an octopus a creature ruled by a single consciousness centered in its large brain, or, by dint of its nerve-infused legs, a collaborative, cooperative, but distributed mind?" Clever octopus tentacles stuffed with neurons http://boingboing.net/2010/11/19/clever-octopus-tenta.html "Octopuses have large nervous systems, centered around relatively large brains. But more than half of their 500 million neurons are found in the arms themselves, Godfrey-Smith said." How Smart Is the Octopus? http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/science/2008/06/how_smart_is_the_octopus.html "Aristotle didn't have a high opinion of the octopus. "The octopus is a stupid creature," he wrote, "for it will approach a man's hand if it be lowered in the water." Twenty-four centuries later, this "stupid" creature is enjoying a much better reputation." Deep Intellect http://www.orionmagazine.org/index.php/articles/article/6474/ "ON AN UNSEASONABLY WARM day in the middle of March, I traveled from New Hampshire to the moist, dim sanctuary of the New England Aquarium, hoping to touch an alternate reality. I came to meet Athena, the aquarium's forty-pound, five-foot-long, two-and-a-half-year-old giant Pacific octopus." Cephalopod intelligence http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cephalopod_intelligence "Cephalopod intelligence has an important comparative aspect in the understanding of intelligence because it relies on a nervous system fundamentally different from that of vertebrates."
