15:50
Part II Counterfeit Culture Moscow https://youtu.be/MwJTT1D2PbE In recent years, Korea has emerged as one of the world’s fastest-growing fashion markets. Koreans are obsessed with fashion, and the country produces scores of talented designers, many of whom are now breaking out onto the global stage. Beneath the surface, though, there’s an insane market for counterfeit streetwear. Of course, you can find fake clothing all over the globe, but there’s places in Seoul that are selling convincing knock-offs of hyped brands like Raf Simons, Off-White, Balenciaga and Fear Of God. Market Research | How to Start Your Fashion Company®

03:11
How to Start Your Fashion Company: Market Research Share this video: http://youtu.be/mHuYiKoDxFY Subscribe to our channel: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=mshopnyc ___________________________ Within all of the other segments I mention research. And that's because it's critical. It's important. It is probably one of the most important activities that you need to accompany your idea for starting a business. You really, really have to look into the industry, look into the market to understand how the system works and figure out where you fit into that system and that's all about the research. You've got to speak to your customers, you've got to speak to experts in the field, you've got to do a ton of reading of trade publications and blogs and follow the companies in the industry that maybe your competitors, but follow them to see what they're doing and how they're being successful or how they're not being successful. Market research is imperative in the fashion industry and it's continual. You're not just doing market research for your business plan, you're doing it every season. You're doing it continually, every selling period. You want to understand the market, what's happening. You want to combine that with studying the economy and what's going on in the world beyond fashion. You want to look to other industries for information that you might be able to feed of off in the fashion industry. For example, new phone, new bag that I can add to my collection that I'm designing. New way to carry the phone, new anything from any industry. I know it's difficult to compile market research data, but you can call on us. You can purchase it. But you really need to have some means of looking into your industry that you want to enter and figuring out whether or not you're entering it properly, whether your prices are okay. Will your consumer pay those prices? Will your consumer come to where you're selling your product? You want to know everything you can about your consumer--you want to create a profile of your consumer so that you can figure out their every move. When do they want your product? How much do they want it for? Where do they want to buy it? That's all such important information and you need that in order to be a successful fashion company. You need to understand your customer, you need to understand your market. ___________________________ With 25 years of expert experience in the industry, fashion authority Michelle Alleyne is dedicated to bringing her immeasurable industry knowledge and personal expertise to aspiring designers everywhere. Fast fashion is a major contributor to the world's clothing waste problem. Many of us give our old clothes to charity or drop them in a store take-back bin, but you might be surprised to learn most of it is sold and can end up in the landfill. How ZARA Took Over The Fashion World

Get your custom domain for 10% off at http://hover.com/ProactiveThinker You will stay poor if you think like this: https://goo.gl/1BCJgq why you will never get rich: https://goo.gl/zkFTpw For more great content! Instagram: https://goo.gl/vzBDdg Facebook: https://goo.gl/DZmAeM Twitter: https://goo.gl/6gvG4T #Business #Fashion When we think at some of the greatest companies in the world, we think of examples such as Google, Amazon and so on. But one of the richest men in the world has made his fortune through the most traditional business you can think about - selling clothes. In fact, in the summer of 2017, the shares of his company soared and for a couple of hours and he held the title of the richest man in the world. But Gates claimed back his position later on the same day. Without any formal education except for the first few years in school, he has built the largest clothing company in the entire world. It all started in Spain. Back then child labor was normal. So Amancio left school at the age of 13 to start working as a delivery boy in a local shirtmaker shop. Where he learned to make clothes by hand. He loved his job and started excelling at it, so much that by the time he was 24, he was appointed as a manager. Not bad for the 1960s, right? Ortega realized that only the wealthy residents could afford their clothes so he started working on his own designs that are more affordable. He started producing pretty similar designs but at a much lower cost targeting the rest of the residents. His strategy work out and he successfully sold all of his designs and used the earnings to open his first factory in 1963 Finally, in 1975, he decided to establish his own brand and named Zara. Zara’s strategy was absolutely simple, sell quality products for a reasonable price so that everyone could afford them. This strategy seems so obvious, why others didn't use it. When Ortega was working in that shirtmaker store. He realized that how the cost of the garments significantly increase when they move from designers to factories to stores. He learned the importance of delivering products directly to consumers without third-party distributors. So Zara started doing everything by itself. This reducing the cost But Ortego’s ambitions didn't stop there, it was time to go international. He established his first store outside Spanish borders in Portugal, in 1988. And a year later In New York. And since then the company has been unstoppable. Ortega realized he can't target all the segments of the market through Zara. So he acquired many different brands such as Pull&Bear, Bershka, Massimo Dutti and so on. And formed them all under a holding company - Inditex. But Zara is the biggest of them, it accounts for over 60% of total sales. Unlike other brands, Zara didn't waste money on advertisements. It knew that as long as there are quality clothes for affordable prices, people are going to buy them, so they kept opening new stores instead. By the year 2000, Zara had stores all around North America and Europe. So it was time to invade Asia and the rest of the world. Inditex has over 7000 stores now. What also sets them apart is that, since everything is done in-house. Zara can design a product and get them into stores in less 2 weeks compare to 6 month which is industry average. Ortega followed just in time production strategy. That means they made their supply chain so effective that they could supply their stores in less than 48 hours. Which means, they don't need to order more than they need and if something is selling too good. They know that they can have it back on the shelves in 48 hours. That provided Zara with absolutely unique advantage. This incredible success story started with a 13-year-old kid who simply had a dream and didn't have any formal education. It seems like nothing is impossible as long as you are patient, dedicated and hard working. But in today’s world with the rise of the internet, the first thing you have to do when you start a project is to register your domain. The Brexit impact on the UK's fashion industry

06:38
(13 Feb 2017) LEAD IN: London has always been one of the world's leading lights in the fashion industry - but has Brexit dulled some of its shine? At the Pure London fashion retail show - and with London Fashion Week on the horizon - brand owners and designers give their views on doing business in Brexit Britain. STORY-LINE: On the catwalk at Pure London it's business as usual. The models strut their stuff to the music and packed crowds squeeze in for a glimpse of the latest trends. But behind the flash and the glamour - is London still an attractive venue for fashion brands? With Britain voting to leave the EU, and uncertainty hanging over all sectors of industry, the UK's fashion talent is preparing to weather the storm. Maggie Song studied fashion in Beijing but came to the UK 13 years ago to make her name in the industry she loves. In this time she has founded three labels, her most successful brand is Jolie Moi which can be found in some of the UK's largest department stores (John Lewis, Debenhams, House of Fraser). She considers her business to be small to medium sized. Her clothes are designed in the UK but the materials and production happen in China. When the result of the Brexit vote was announced she was on a business trip in Beijing and recalls her horror at hearing the news. "I was shocked (when she heard the Brexit result). I couldn't think anything and also I couldn't speak, so, I was watching the exchange rate on the Internet, I can see the drop, the pound, this dramatic drop to the dollar and immediately I realised how tough it will be for small business," she says. Song is expecting a tough 2017 as the low value of the pound starts to bite. She expects she will have to lower her margins to absorb the impact of Brexit. But not everybody is suffering from the falling pound, according to Pure London's show director Julie Driscoll. "So the exchange rate means for international brands it's really easy for them to enter the UK market, so more than ever before we're seeing international companies, international fashion collections wanting to come to the UK to explore opportunities and indeed this means this is our largest Pure London ever," she says. One of the foreign fashion brands visiting Pure London for the first time is French jewellery maker Pas Si Sages Bijoux (Not So Wise) from Lyon. Their funky, Bohemian-inspired jewellery is low/to mid priced and is all designed and produced in France. They are now looking to expand into the British market. Chloe Chenu, the director of Pas Si Sages Bijoux, demonstrates the latest product - a back necklace. She believes Brexit has not changed anything in the fashion world and thinks the UK is still a great place to do business... perhaps thanks to the eccentric English style. "London is always the place for fashion, the most important in the world, even after Brexit, that doesn't change anything. We always come to sell products, English people are always eccentric and they want French products," she says. It's the same story for Turkish designer Ece Kavran, whose range called Urun features minimalist, classic pieces. She says London is still top of her list for places to do business because of its pace and willingness to try new brands. She says in France and Italy the market is much slower and more traditional. "But England is an expandable market, it's forever open to the new idea, to the new brand, and I think that's what makes it, England, very compelling for us," she says. But fashion is more than just sales and spreadsheets, it's about creating brands - and there is no bigger brand than a country itself. So has brand Britain been tarnished by its decision to leave the EU? How Zara Took Over The Industry Using Fast Fashion

04:02
Today, we’re going to look at the history of Zara, its parent company Inditex, and the fashion industry in general, to see how it became possible to create such a high churn rate in the fashion industry. An average American will throw away 77 pounds of clothing every year. And that’s true across the majority of the western world. That is two suitcases of clothes, just dumped. Zara’s first store opened in 1975, in a city called A Coruna in northern Spain. Owners Amancio Ortega and Rosalia Mera had wanted to name it after a favorite Greek film called Zorba the Greek, but a bar on their street had already beat them to the punch, so they settled for Zara, since they had already had the letters made for the sign. Inditex was set up in 1985 as holding company for Zara and the manufacturing plants. They went on to set up and take-over many other high-street brands that follow Zara’s format; such as Pull and Bear, Bershka and Stradivarius. They now have over 6000 stores globally. Zara’s early business model was to create similar copies to high end lines but at an affordable price. As they expanded through Spain, Ortega pushed the idea of instant fashion, where Zara could react incredibly quickly to new trends so they could put new lines on the shelves in a fraction of the normal time. -----------------Support the channel: Support this channel: https://www.patreon.com/alexberman SUBSCRIBE for more videos like this: http://youtube.com/alxberman?sub_confirmation=1 Check out our Digital Agency Marketing Podcast: https://itunes.apple.com/hr/podcast/digital-agency-marketing-1/id1200614219?mt=2&ls=1 Need lead generation or marketing support for your agency? Street fashion drives boom in Korean fashion industry

02:41
'코리안 쿨' 제3한류 뜬다... K스트리트 패션이 교과서 Yesterday, we took a look at the challenges Korea's fashion industry face. Today,... let's zoom in on how those in the industries are finding new ways to build on the unique qualities of K-fashion and overcome adversities. Here's Hwang Ji-hye with the last of our two part special. This district in southern Seoul bustling with young Koreans is now one of the city's most popular tourist attractions. A major reason for that... is the street fashion shops lining the sidewalks of Garosu-gil. "Korean clothes is cheaper than Japan and more fashionable." "It provide us with a reasonable price. With that reason, I think it's good for us to go shopping around ." "And this so-called street fashion of Korea... that incorporates Seoul's overall pop culture driven by Korean celebrities and entertainment content is what many point to as the hotbed of Korean fashion." Jung Ku-ho, director of the ongoing Seoul Fashion Week, says... Korean fashion has carved out a niche for itself. "Foreign fashion weeks focus on high-end brands, but Korea's fashion week features clothes with more street and pop culture elements. And that's what foreign buyers and the press are interested in, too." The rising brand value of the capital city of Seoul... is also drawing major fashion houses, which have begun to recognize its rise in the world of Asian fashion. Chanel brought its cruise fashion show to Seoul for the first time last year... and French lifestyle brand Maison Kitsune paid tribute to Korea in its 2015 fall/winter collection. Jung also says... fashion is part of the culture boom driving the larger Korean Wave. "What clothes Seoulites wear and what they eat and the culture of the city in general seem to be garnering interest from around the world these days." Jung, who's a successful designer himself, adds that,... to survive in the already saturated industry,... local designers need to take advantage of Korea's Internet infrastructure. "Focusing only on the local market is no longer working. Designers should think of the global market as a city and find ways to promote their brands and communicate with their customers. These days, they can do it using social media." He adds... this is also a way for them to cut costs in the current economic downturn. Hwang Ji-hye, Arirang News. Russia’s counterfeit industry stretches back decades, to when Communism isolated the country from Western products. Now, almost 30 years after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia’s borders are open, but a fragile economy, international sanctions and low wages has kept the country’s demand for fakes alive and well. Karl Lagerfeld - fashion designer and icon | DW Documentary

42:26
Karl Lagerfeld - the name stands for much more than just fashion. What makes the fashion icon so successful? Who’s the man behind the sunglasses? Designer, artist, fashion icon, also known as "Kaiser Karl." No living fashion designer, let alone a German one, is as celebrated as Karl Lagerfeld. On September 10, the man with the trademark ponytail and sunglasses will celebrate his 85th birthday - it’s believed. From dawn to late morning, Karl Lagerfeld designs for Chanel, Fendi and his own signature brand - a combined workload of up to 15 collections a year. A workhorse who never takes breaks or even a vacation, he is also a photographer and filmmaker. His passion for fashion was awakened by a Dior show in Hamburg in 1950. Four years later, at the age of 17, Karl Lagerfeld was hired as an assistant to Pierre Balmain. Karl Lagerfeld recounts his beginnings in the industry, as well as his upper class background and childhood in Schleswig-Holstein. Karl Lagerfeld was greatly influenced by his mother, whom he describes as his personal style icon. Karl Lagerfeld's caustic comments are notorious and dreaded by those at the receiving end. As an artist, Karl Lagerfeld works in several media, from pictures and photographs to book illustrations and videos. The documentary follows Karl Lagerfeld to exhibition openings, during the hectic preparations for his fashion shows, and at photo shoots in Paris as it seeks to uncover the man behind the mask. _______ DW Documentary gives you knowledge beyond the headlines. Knockoff Streetwear market Guangzhou China, Hypebeast fashion Supreme Bape Fog ASSC offwhite palace

39:22
The market here in Guangzhou China has so much streetwear it blows my mind. I DO NOT CONDONE THE PRODUCTION OR SALE OF KNOCKOFF, FAKE, Goods as that would be supporting the black market and taking away from the designer. I however do enjoy seeing brands such as supreme, bape, fear of god, anti social social club, off white, palace, vetements and many other hypebeast brands as the art work and style is interesting. Please do not ask for me to buy you some thing as I do not export and I can not give out the address as it is against youtubes policies. These market videos are for entertainment and educational purposes and show a part of every day like in Guangzhou China and how the fashion is over here. head to toe clothing and sneakers every one over here has a different style and it changes from province to province. beijing to shanghai to shenzhen and also changes each asian country such as thailand, philippines, japan and korea. These items are even making their way around the world to places such as russia and sadly north america.

Fashion Factories Undercover (Documentary) - Real Stories

50:20
Beyond the crumbling walls of sweatshops we find out the true cost of fashion. It’s April 23rd 2013, a busy commercial building in Dhaka, Bangladesh towers over thousands of workers, many of them children. As they toil away in a cramped sweatshop the force of the eight-storey building collapses on to them, killing more than a 1,000 people and permanently disfiguring a further 2,500. It emerges that this building had been condemned and not fit for purpose, yet many workers were caged for 14-hours a day with no escape. This was not just an unfortunate circumstance but one that could easily have been prevented. Through first-hand eyewitness accounts we will investigate the cause of the collapse and reveal how major international brands have ignored the warnings by continuing to use these unsafe buildings and put profit ahead of safety. How to Identify Trends in Data, the Market, Fashion, Business, and Media (2008)

International dialogue became institutionalized in the form of the World Futures Studies Federation (WFSF), founded in 1967, with the noted sociologist, Johan Galtung, serving as its first president. In the United States, the publisher Edward Cornish, concerned with these issues, started the World Future Society, an organization focused more on interested laypeople. 1975 saw the founding of the first graduate program in futures studies in the United States, the M.S. program in Futures Studies at the University of Houston–Clear Lake,.[21] Oliver Markley of SRI (now SRI International) was hired in 1978 to move the program into a more applied and professional direction. The program moved to the University of Houston in 2007 and renamed the degree to Foresight.[22] The program has remained focused on preparing professional futurists and providing high-quality foresight training for individuals and organizations in business, government, education, and non-profits.[23] In 1976, the M.A. Program in Public Policy in Alternative Futures at the University of Hawaii at Manoa was established.[24] The Hawaii program locates futures studies within a pedagogical space defined by neo-Marxism, critical political economic theory, and literary criticism. In the years following the foundation of these two programs, single courses in Futures Studies at all levels of education have proliferated, but complete programs occur only rarely. In 2012, the Finland Futures Research Centre started a master's degree Programme in Futures Studies at Turku School of Economics, a business school which is part of the University of Turku in Turku, Finland.[25] As a transdisciplinary field, futures studies attracts generalists. This transdisciplinary nature can also cause problems, owing to it sometimes falling between the cracks of disciplinary boundaries; it also has caused some difficulty in achieving recognition within the traditional curricula of the sciences and the humanities. In contrast to "Futures Studies" at the undergraduate level, some graduate programs in strategic leadership or management offer masters or doctorate programs in "strategic foresight" for mid-career professionals, some even online. Nevertheless, comparatively few new PhDs graduate in Futures Studies each year. The field currently faces the great challenge of creating a coherent conceptual framework, codified into a well-documented curriculum (or curricula) featuring widely accepted and consistent concepts and theoretical paradigms linked to quantitative and qualitative methods, exemplars of those research methods, and guidelines for their ethical and appropriate application within society. As an indication that previously disparate intellectual dialogues have in fact started converging into a recognizable discipline,[26] at least six solidly-researched and well-accepted first attempts to synthesize a coherent framework for the field have appeared: Eleonora Masini (sk)'s Why Futures Studies?,[27] James Dator's Advancing Futures Studies,[28] Ziauddin Sardar's Rescuing all of our Futures,[29] Sohail Inayatullah's Questioning the future,[30] Richard A. Slaughter's The Knowledge Base of Futures Studies, a collection of essays by senior practitioners, and Wendell Bell's two-volume work, The Foundations of Futures Studies. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Futures_studies Image By Norio NAKAYAMA from saitama, japan (全日本ロードレース選手権 #ヤマハバイク) [CC BY-SA 2.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0)], via Wikimedia Commons
