Floating in The Dead Sea - Jordan / West Bank / Israel

00:49
The Dead Sea is a salt lake bordering Jordan to the east and Israel and the West Bank to the west. It is the Earth's lowest elevation on land where its shores are 423 metres (1,388 ft) below sea level. With 33.7% salinity, it is also one of the world's saltiest bodies of water and at 377 m (1,237 ft) deep, the deepest hypersaline lake in the world. The Dead Sea seawater has a density of 1.240 kg/L, which makes swimming similar to floating. THE DEAD SEA, ISRAEL, BEACHES OF ISRAEL, THE DEAD SEA ISRAEL, יִשְׂרָאֵל, NETANYA, BEACH IN NETANYA

24:29
ISRAEL, DEAD SEA IN ISRAEL, נְתַנְיָה, יָם הַמֶּלַח, INCREDIBLE ISRAEL, BEACHES OF ISRAEL, THE DEAD SEA ISRAEL, יִשְׂרָאֵל, The Dead Sea is roughly 8.6 times saltier than the ocean. This salinity makes for a harsh environment in which animals cannot flourish (hence its name). The high salinity prevents macroscopic aquatic organisms such as fish and aquatic plants from living in it, though minuscule quantities of bacteria and microbial fungi are present. The Dead Sea is 67 kilometres (42 mi) long and 18 kilometres (11 mi) wide at its widest point. It lies in the Jordan Rift Valley and its main tributary is the Jordan River. The Dead Sea area has become a major center for health research and treatment for several reasons. The mineral content of the water, the very low content of pollens and other allergens in the atmosphere, the reduced ultraviolet component of solar radiation, and the higher atmospheric pressure at this great depth each have specific health effects. 9. An unusual feature of the Dead Sea is its discharge of asphalt. From deep seeps, the Dead Sea constantly spits up small pebbles and blocks of the black substance. Asphalt coated figurines and bitumen coated Neolithic skulls from archaeological sites have been found. Egyptian mummification processes used asphalt imported from the Dead Sea region. Netanya (Hebrew: נְתַנְיָה, lit., "gift of God"; Arabic: نتانيا‎‎) is a city in the Northern Central District of Israel, and is the capital of the surrounding Sharon plain. It is 30 km (18.64 mi) north of Tel Aviv, and 56 km (34.80 mi) south of Haifa, between the 'Poleg' stream and Wingate Institute in the south and the 'Avichail' stream in the north. Netanya was named in honor of Nathan Straus, a prominent Jewish American merchant and philanthropist in the early 20th century. Its 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) of beaches have made the city a popular tourist resort. In addition, the city is known for its large immigrant population. A significant percentage of the city's population consists of immigrants from the former Soviet Union, France, and Ethiopia, and the city is home to a notably large population of English-speaking immigrants from the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. According to the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), at the end of 2014 the city had a total population of 202,428.[1] An additional 150,000 people live in the local and regional councils within 10 kilometres (6 miles) of Netanya which serves as a regional center for them. The city mayor is Miriam Feirberg. The city is expected to reach a population of 350,000 by 2020. The Dead Sea’s unusually high salt concentration means that people can easily float in the Dead Sea due to natural buoyancy. In this respect the Dead Sea is similar to the Great Salt Lake in Utah in the United States.

Israel, Palestinians, Jordan agree on pipeline from Red Sea to Dead Sea

03:17
Israel, the Palestinians and Jordan on Monday signed an agreement that will see a pipeline built to channel water from the Red Sea to the Dead Sea and help address water scarcity in the region. The deal, which is part of a years-long effort to address water issues in the region, was signed at the World Bank headquarters in Washington DC. The 180-kilometre (111-mile) pipeline will carry some 200 cubic metres (52,800 gallons) of water a year, which is to be desalinated at a plant to be built in Jordan and then ferried for use as drinking water in Jordan and Israel. Some of the water will be fed into the Dead Sea in a bid to replenish its receding waters. The Palestinians say Israel is set to provide them additional quantities of water under the agreement, beyond what they already receive as part of previous agreements. The deal was lauded by Israel's Water and Regional Cooperation Minister Silvan Shalom. "This agreement was blessed and supported by Prime Minister Netanyahu, as I know, as well, by King Abdullah and by President Abu Mazen and all of them together shows us that while the leaders are really willing to reach an agreement, it can be achieved. And let's hope that that agreement will be a glimmer of hope for future agreements for comprehensive peace in the region," he said. That point was underscored by Jordan's Minister of Water, Hazem el-Naser. "We are joining hands with our regional partners to develop such an important project, which I think will be a model, not only for our region but to the whole world where we have conflict and hostilities, that water can bring people together and at a certain point can bring even peace to people of the the region," he said. However the deal has elicited criticism from the environmental group Friends of the Earth. "Friends of the Earth Middle East very much supports such a water exchange, where Jordan and Israel exchange water and Israel even sells some more water to the Palestinians that very much deserve more water. But leave the Dead Sea out of it, there is no reason to include the Dead Sea with all the environmental risks that have already been proven in this kind of project," said Mira Edelstein, from the Middle East branch of Friends of the Earth. She said the plan threatens the "environmental sensitivity" of the Dead Sea. The pipeline is expected to cost between 300-400 (m) million US dollars and set to be completed within three years of a tender announcement in 2014. It was not immediately clear who would fund the project. Zahi Shaked A tour guide in Israel and his camera [email protected] +972-54-6905522 tel סיור עם מורה הדרך ומדריך הטיולים צחי שקד 0546905522 My name is Zahi Shaked In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide. My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land. Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity. In order to fulfill this "calling" in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters) Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, "glide" over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and "see" the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.

Dead Sea In Jordan - The Deepest Salt Lake In The World

01:12
The Dead Sea also called the Salt Sea, is a salt lake bordering Jordan to the east and Israel and the West Bank to the west. Its surface and shores are 423 metres (1,388 ft) below sea level, Earth’s lowest elevation on land. The Dead Sea is 377 m (1,237 ft) deep, the deepest hypersaline lake in the world. With 33.7% salinity, it is also one of the world’s saltiest bodies of water, though Lake Assal (Djibouti), Garabogazköl and some hypersaline lakes of the McMurdo Dry Valleys in Antarctica (such as Don Juan Pond) have reported higher salinities. It is 8.6 times saltier than the ocean. This salinity makes for a harsh environment in which animals cannot flourish, hence its name. The Dead Sea is 67 kilometres (42 mi) long and 18 kilometres (11 mi) wide at its widest point. It lies in the Jordan Rift Valley, and its main tributary is the Jordan River. The Dead Sea has attracted visitors from around the Mediterranean basin for thousands of years. Biblically, it was a place of refuge for King David. It was one of the world’s first health resorts (for Herod the Great), and it has been the supplier of a wide variety of products, from balms for Egyptian mummification to potash for fertilizers. People also use the salt and the minerals from the Dead Sea to create cosmetics and herbal sachets. In 2009, 1.2 million foreign tourists visited on the Israeli side.

Dead Sea-Israel

For millennia, the salty, mineral-rich waters of the Dead Sea have drawn visitors and health pilgrims to its shores. But in recent years, Sinkholes have been opening up without warning along its banks, The Dead Sea is famous for is extreme salinity (34 percent salt, almost 10 times as salty as the ocean), and for having the lowest elevation on Earth, at 429 meters below sea level. But for the past few decades, the sea has been shrinking rapidly, due to the diversion of water from the Jordan River (which feeds the Dead Sea) , the evaporation and mineral mining from its waters in the south. The water's surface is currently receding by about 1 m per year. This short video can be viewed from above in the western region of the Dead Sea and enjoy the stunning views showing the results fall in the water level of the Dead Sea and the formation of sinkholes. Dead Sea (Ezekiel) Prophecy Fulfilled ! Israel News! Fish swimming along Dead Sea's shores!

09:36
“And it shall come to pass in that day that living waters shall go out from Yerushalayim: half of them toward the eastern sea and half of them toward the western sea; in summer and in winter shall it be.” Zechariah 14:8 (The Israel Bible™) Then said he unto me: ‘These waters issue forth toward the eastern region and shall go down into the Arabah; and when they shall enter into the sea into the sea of the putrid waters the waters shall be healed. And it shall come to pass that every living creature wherewith it swarmeth whithersoever the rivers shall come shall live; and there shall be a very great multitude of fish; for these waters are come thither that all things be healed and may live whithersoever the river cometh. Ezekiel 47:8-9 (The Israel Bible) Almost ten times saltier than the ocean, nothing can live in the Dead Sea’s hyper-saline environment – Or so scientists thought until recently. Scientific research has proved the existence of life at the bottom of the sea, but due to a unique set of circumstances, signs of life have begun appearing on its very shores, precisely as it is written in the Book of Prophets in the Bible. A young woman on a nature hike was shocked recently when she discovered freshwater ponds with fish on the shores of the Dead Sea. Samantha Siegel, a Jewish woman living in Jerusalem, often takes trips to the desert and the ancient body of water. On a recent visit, she encountered an incongruous sight with powerful implications: a prophecy appearing before her eyes that seemed to contradict the laws of nature.... ARRESTED BY JORDANIAN ARMY // The Dead Sea

07:31
By law I was allowed to bring and fly drone in Jordan but it doesn't seem to be clear the laws or rules by government officials (police/army). I was interrogated for almost 2 hours and had to write a statement. In the end Jordanian officials called the army base and said this was illegal and they let me go. Unfortunately they had to delete all the footage from the base because it's a government are :(. The Jordanian army and police were VERY VERY Friendly during the whole process and they believed they were just doing their jobs, especially since very high tension in the area and Syrian border. No hard feelings, I look at it as a experience rather then something to be angry. We then went to the lowest point on earth, 400 meters below sea level, the dead sea.

Secrets Of The Dead Sea (widescreen)

Full dome educational science show SECRETS OF THE DEAD SEA, available in formats for all planetariums and also on HD DVDs. For more info on downloading and ordering our full dome shows, visit http://spaceupdate.com/planetarium_shows.php or http://www.eplanetarium.com/ SHOW DESCRIPTION: Secrets of the Dead Sea is a full-dome documentary, filmed at the Dead Sea and from space with historical and astronomical animations. In this show, the Dead Sea comes alive through stories preserved in its cliffs and caves - and in the stars overhead. Ancient scrolls chronicle the passage of time by motions of the sun and moon, while rock and sand preserve a living record of a place as timeless as the star patterns above. Secrets of the Dead Sea tells the story of this timeless place through its history, religion, astronomy and geology. Long ago plates in the Earth's crust pulled apart and formed a rift valley stretching from Syria to Mozambique. The Dead Sea is the lowest point of this valley. In more recent times, when Judea fell to the Romans, we can imagine scribes and scholars rushing to hide their precious scrolls in the cliffs overlooking the Dead Sea's northern shore. Carefully they closed up the caves, hiding any evidence of the scholarly treasure within. Now this delicate ecosystem is threatened by irrigation projects that shrink the sea and lower the water table below. Secrets of the Dead Sea is dedicated to the courage of the Columbia Crew of STS 107, including Ilam Ramon, Israel's first astronaut. While orbiting above the Dead Sea in the Space Shuttle, Col. Ramon carried a Torah scroll, the book of Psalms. He saw hope and a vision for the future when he said, "The world looks marvelous from up here, so peaceful, so wonderful and so fragile." NOTE: this is a low resolution, cropped, widescreen version for preview purposes only. The warped projection is used with a mirror dome system.

Jordan River

02:39
Recorded October 28, 2009. The Jordan River or River Jordan flows into the Dead Sea. It is considered to be one of the world's most sacred rivers. It is 156 miles long. The river drops rapidly in a 75 kilometer run to swampy Lake Hula, which is slightly above sea level. Exiting the lake, it drops much more in about 25 kilometers to the Sea of Galilee. The last section has less gradient, and the river begins to meander before it enters the Dead Sea, which is about 400 metres below sea level and has no outlet. Two major tributaries enter from the east during this last phase: the Yarmouk River and Jabbok River. Its section north of the Sea of Galilee within the boundaries of Israel, and forms the western boundary of the Golan Heights. South of the lake, it forms the border between the Kingdom of Jordan (to the east) and Israel and the West Bank (to the west). From: http://timvp.com

Sea of Food at the Dead Sea

19:34
On Day 8 of our trip to Jordan, we drove from Wadi Rum to the Dead Sea. But in the morning before we left, we first had a camel ride in the desert. It was amazing to see Wadi Rum from the back of a camel, such a peaceful way to experience Wadi Rum. Once we reached the Dead Sea we enjoyed a couple of excellent Lebanese meals. 01:37 Camel Ride at Wadi Rum - Along with a truck safari, one of the best ways to see Wadi Rum is my taking a camel ride. Due to the rain, we couldn’t ride camels the day before, so we decided to ride today in the morning. Although it quite hurt my legs, it was well worth it, and a very fun way to see Wadi Rum. After having breakfast at the tented camp, and riding the camels, we jumped in the car and started driving towards the Dead Sea. 05:08 Mount Nebo - 1 JD ($1.41) - On the way to the Dead Sea, we stopped off at Mount Nebo, the place where God showed Moses the promised land with a view overlooking an expansive area of land, we could even see the Dead Sea. It was an amazing view. 05:59 Ocean Restaurant (Dead Sea) - As soon as we reached the Dead Sea, we were all very hungry, so we stopped at Ocean Restaurant, a Lebanese restaurant with a view of the sea. All of a sudden they started bringing masses of mezze to our table, until the point where there was literally not a single empty space on our table. There were so many different dips and appetizer dishes to choose from including cheese sticks, kibbeh, heart of palm salad, hummus, grape leaves, tabbouleh, and moutabel. There were so many different Lebanese mezze dishes that I forgot all about the Dead Sea! For our main dish at Ocean Restaurant we had a dish called sayadieh, which is a seafood platter including fish and biryani rice served with a tomato sauce. There was both fried and grilled fish, and what I really liked in the dish was that it was served with a deep fried onion, which tasted fantastic. For dessert, they brought out giant plates of fruit and a variety of different desserts including osmalieh and aish el saraya. 13:13 Crowne Plaza Jordan Dead Sea Resort - After our incredible late lunch, we drove to the Crown Plaza Resort, and checked in. We stayed just for one night. 14:07 Burj Al Hamam - Lebanese Restaurant at Crown Plaza Hotel - For dinner we ate at Burj Al Hamam, one of the most well known restaurant names in Lebanese food in Jordan. Again, we were served an impressive array of different mezze starter dishes, but they served us a few dishes that were different from what we had eaten for lunch including kibbeh nayyeh. I’ve always been a huge fan of different types of raw meat dishes, and kibbeh nayyeh is the Lebanese version of raw minced beef mixed with a variety of spices. It’s typically eaten with garlic sauce and olive oil to garnish, and scooped up with pieces of bread. It was amazing. For our main dish we had mixed grill, including kebabs, lamb pieces, and chicken, and then kebab khashkhash, kebabs in tomato sauce. Again, the food was excellent. -- Check out my Amman, Jordan Travel Guide: http://migrationology.com/travel-guides/amman-jordan/ (Including where to stay, what to see, safety information, and extra tips) MY WEBSITES: Migrationology.com: http://migrationology.com/ EatingThaiFood.com: http://eatingthaifood.com/ TravelByYing.com: http://travelbyying.com/ T-shirts & Food Guides: https://migrationology.com/store/ Resources: http://migrationology.com/travel-resources/ SOCIAL MEDIA: Snapchat: @migrationology Instagram: https://instagram.com/migrationology Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/migrationology Thank you very much for watching this Jordan food and travel video! --

Please Rate Comment and Thumbs Up! Extended Version of the First Video "Flotation Devices The dead Sea" This Video was Filmed during our 14 day Holy Land cruise on the Celebrity Silhouette. The Ship parks in the Port City of Ashdod which is just outside of Tel-aviv Israel. From there we hailed a cab to drive us 2 hours to the Dead Sea. The City of Jerusalem is situated up on top of a mountains area. As you come down the mountains heading towards the Dead Sea you will see people living among the desert in shanty shack looking houses with fires burning and skinny domesticated animals. The cab driver said they had been living there for generations. As we started to come down the last part there were elevation signs telling us we were going below sea level. The Air temperature also got warmer and more humid. The Valley floor was around 82 Degrees F. in mid November. There was a private beach Located on the Dead sea which has a bar, indoor and outdoor showers, The temperature in Jerusalem was probably in the mid 60s. On our way back at night is was even a bit cooler. The dead sea is not actually a Sea because it doesn't connect with the rest of the ocean. The river Jordan empties into the hyper saline lake generations of rain water have dissolved minerals from the surrounding mountains only to settle on in the dead sea. However it seems like the Dead Sea may be getting smaller and smaller based on the structures built near the shore. We were advised to not shave before going because the salty water will burn any open cuts or sensitive skin. If you do have any open cuts you will find them once you enter the water. Best Free Dead Sea Public Beaches in Israel

06:05
If you are looking for free Dead Sea Public Beaches in Israel you will have an easy job as there are at least a couple of them on the way down to Eilat. The closest to Jerusalem is past a military checkpoint, on the left side of the road. Park up your car and walk down to the water to enjoy the beach for free. If you want the comfort of a shower, then drive to Ein Bokek where all you need to pay for is the parking, otherwise the shower, the sand and sunbathing will all be free. These are the two free public beaches at the Dead Sea in Israel which I managed to discover during my holiday. If you know of more in Israel please post in the comments. Saving the River Jordan - Israel/Palestine

15:59
Aug 2007 It's said the next war in the Middle East will be over water. Already agricultural development is killing the River Jordan. But saving the river for all nations could be an impetus for co-operation. "It's amazing what we've done to destroy a river that's holy to half of humanity", laments environmentalist Gidon Bromberg. Raw sewage and agricultural waste have turned sections of this once pristine river into a putrid trickle. The river takes it's first hit in the deserts of Northern Israel, where farmers like Jid Shoshani drain its water for irrigation. "It's madness to be growing tropical fruits in the middle of the desert", fumes Gidon. This water should be naturally replenished by the Yarmouk river. But water from the Yarmouk is siphoned off by farmers in Syria and Jordan. By the time the River Jordan reaches the Dead Sea, it has been pumped full of raw sewage and waste. Only 10% of the water that used to flow from the Jordan now makes it to the Dead Sea. As a result, the sea level is falling by one metre a year. "It makes me feel very bad", confides engineer Eli Raz. Only if Palestinians, Israelis, Syrians and Jordanians work together can the river and Dead Sea be saved. 48 Hours in Jordan: Petra, the Dead Sea, and Falafel!

10:00
48 Hours in Jordan: Petra, the Dead Sea, and Falafel A trip to Jordan is on every traveler’s bucket list - as it should be! We got lucky enough to visit a little bit of the country during a weekend recently - we literally spent 48 hours in Jordan - but we have so much more to see in Jordan and can't wait to go back to see more of it. From the beautiful wonder of the world Petra to Amman’s most famous falafel joint, through Wadis and the Dead Sea, here’s our full guide to 48 Hours in Jordan. 48 Hours in Jordan | Day 1: Petra and Amman As you guys know, we both work full time, so we had to adapt this itinerary to fit in exactly 48 hours - from Thursday evening after work to Sunday morning back to work. We left the office and headed straight to DXB Airport, where we boarded the Royal Jordanian flight at 9.30 direction Amman. Arrived in Jordan at 11.40pm, we picked up SIM Cards as we planned to drive and we needed directions at all times (and to post Insta Stories, let’s be honest). Grab a SIM card at the Zain stand by the Starbucks when you land, it’s cheap, easy and reliable 4G! Once done, we swang by Sixt to pick up our rental car and got going - no time to waste! If you’re confident in your driving skills, we really recommend you to do this. The roads are well lit and safe, and the drive is just short of 3 hours, so make sure to drink plenty of coffee and prepare your best road trip hits! Once we arrived in Petra, we had a couple hours to get a snooze (in the car, but there’s also a Movenpick right by the entrance of Petra if you feel like taking a longer sleep!). The best tip we can give you, however, is to be right there at 6am at the opening of Petra. Be the first there, and avoid the crowd of tourists coming later in the day. This is really the best piece of advice we’ve received, and we reeeeally recommend you do the same! Once in Petra, we started the short 2km walk to the Treasury. The Treasury is the iconic facade you imagine when thinking about Petra. That feeling when you see it appear at a corner is incredible - especially if the sun is just rising! We hung around the Treasury for a little bit, but shortly began our hike towards the Monastery, which is the highest point in Petra. Walking through Petra made us realise how little knowledge we had about it - who built Petra? When was it build? What IS IT? After a quick Google search (oops), we continued on our way to the Monastery, stopping here and there to drink tea with our new best friend Rosa, and buy a couple things on the rise of the road. Once we arrived to the top, what a sight this was! The Monastery was absolutely empty, so again, make sure to be the first up there - really worth walking a little bit faster (though please don’t use the donkeys!!!). Tip: Get to Petra at the opening at 6am! After drinking a coffee and sharing a few moments in the calm with the cutest stray dog, we decided to explore around and finally, head back down.
