Got a problem? Speak up about it! In this useful lesson, you will learn a simple 3-step process to complain about any issue you have! This lesson is essential for anyone living, travelling, or doing business in an English-speaking country. Whether your hotel room is dirty, your food is cold, or your internet is not working -- you need to know how to lodge a complaint! Watch this lesson so that you can stand up for yourself and get the service you deserve! Then take the quiz here: http://www.engvid.com/real-english-how-to-complain-about-a-problem/ TRANSCRIPT Hi. My name is Rebecca. Complaining is something that most people don't enjoy doing. But sometimes, it's necessary for us to get what we need or want or deserve. In this lesson, I'll show you an easy three-step process to complain effectively in English. Let's get started. Okay. So the three steps are: First, state the problem; second, express your feelings; and last, ask for action. Let's look at some examples of how this works. Let's say you have no hot water in your hotel room. So state the problem. You say, "We have no hot water in our hotel room. This is unacceptable. Please transfer me to another room." Okay? So, "I have no hot water. This is unacceptable. Please transfer me to another room." Right? State the problem; express your feelings; ask for action. It's very important to do this last part. Some people just do this part. They state the problem, or they grumble by stating -- they're expressing their feelings. But they don't tell people what they want them to do. So if you really want action, make sure you ask for what you ask for what you want someone to do to fix your problem, okay? Next, you're in a restaurant, and the food isn't to your satisfaction. So you say, "The food is cold. This is ridiculous. Please bring us some hot food." Okay? One, two, three. Next, "The Internet is down" -- "the Internet is down" means the Internet is not working, all right? "This is unacceptable. Please credit me for the lost hours." Okay? Another example, "You overcharged me for this item. This is wrong. Please give me a refund." Okay? So you see, by following this three-step process, it's a very easy way for you to complain about anything that you're having a problem with, okay? So remember, don't forget to ask for action, because without that, people may come up with a solution which you don't really like. And you want to make sure that people do what you want them to do, for example, give you a refund, or for example, not just fix your Internet, but give you a credit for the hours that you lost. So by you stating what you want, there's a much greater likelihood that the problem will be fixed in a way that makes you satisfied, okay? For example, let me tell you what happened to me the other day, a really bad experience. I went to the supermarket. I was really hungry. I had nothing at home to eat. And I bought a roast chicken. And that was going to be my dinner. So I took it home, spent a good amount of money for that chicken, prepared some other things to eat with the chicken. And finally, when I was about to sit down, I opened up the chicken, and what do I see? Somebody had actually eaten a part of the leg. One of the legs was eaten, and the bone was left there. I mean, can you imagine my shock? I was absolutely disgusted. I took action. I complained. So what did I do? I told them, "Someone has eaten my chicken! Somebody has eaten one of the legs and actually left the dirty bone there in the package! And you sold me this ridiculous chicken! So this is ridiculous. This is completely wrong. Please give me a refund immediately. Give me a replacement chicken. And in addition, I'm going to write to your management because this is a health hazard." So depending on what the situation is, you can decide how much you complain, what you ask for. I did, by the way, get a replacement chicken. I did get my money back in addition. And I'm planning to follow up with the management because it's really crazy, isn't it? So I hope you've learned from this, how to complain. I hope this never happens to you, no chicken situations or anything else. But sometimes things happen. So at least, you'll know how to handle it, all right? If you'd like to do a quiz to really master how you complain, please go to our website www.engvid.com. And you could also subscribe to my YouTube channel to learn many other things that you could do in English more effectively. All right? Thanks very much for watching. Bye, for now.

EXP: “How to file a complaint”. A simple guide to help you file a complaint in case you have a legitimate problem when buying an item or service. And with you today… PST: Professor KnowItAll… EXP :Ok, Professor KnowItAll, go ahead… PST: Thank you, thank you… Well, let me tell you. If you have a problem with a purchase, the first thing you should do is complain to all your friends on social media… EXP: No, not at all! I have the Consumer Action Handbook here, and it says the first thing you should do is inform the seller about the problem. Most complaints are actually resolved that way. And do it as soon as possible because some stores offer limited time for returns and refunds. If your problem is not resolved on the first try, ask to speak with a supervisor or manager. Sometimes it’s just a matter of knowing who to talk to in order to resolve the issue. PST: That’s what I was saying … So in other words, if you didn’t like the final score of the game you watched last night, you should complain immediately so you can get your money back… EXP : No! It doesn’t work that way… I think I’ll need to be more clear…Look, Professor, if, for example, you buy a television set, and you carefully take it home, then you unpack it and the screen is cracked, then you should make a complaint at the place where it was purchased. PST: And if I didn’t like the game that I watched on that television, can I return it? EXP: He’ll never understand… Back to the topic of how to file a complaint… PST: You should meet my friend Luis; he’s an expert at complaining! EXP : Professor…So if the complaint is not resolved after contacting the seller, you should begin a formal process by writing to the business in question, and express your complaint following these recommendations: One : Start by keeping a record of everything that’s happened. Two : Contact the seller or manufacturer. Explain the problem in detail, but be brief and to the point, and state whether you want a refund or an exchange, and how long you are willing to wait for a response. Don’t be threatening or rude. That won’t help you. Provide your name, address and your phone number so they can contact you. Three : If the problem does not get resolved there are various other options that you can consider, like contacting trade associations or national consumer organizations. Four : You can also contact local or state consumer protection offices, or the closest BBB . PST: Oh yes, of course, Big Bad Business EXP: No professor the BBB is the Better Business Bureau, which is a nonprofit organization that helps resolve consumer complaints. PST: Now everything is starting to become clear. If I have a complaint about a product that I’ve purchased, I should call to complain, and if it’s not resolved, I should write to the seller. And if it is still not resolved, I should contact the closest consumer protection agency … EXP: Very good, that’s right. And by the way, there are also small claims courts in case none of these options resolve the problem. EXP: Is it clear now, Professor? PST: Crystal clear. EXP: Professor, if you have any more questions, visit USA.gov. They will guide you to find contact information for businesses and manufacturers, and a sample letter of complaint. You can also download or request a free copy of the Consumer Action Handbook, for more tips. PST: OK, but I have one more question. EXP: Yes … about the Handbook or about how to file a complaint? PST: No, not that. I want to know if we’re done because I’m running a little late for the game… EXP: Yes Professor, but remember: for more information and to request your free Consumer Action Handbook, visit USA.gov or in Spanish at GobiernoUSA.gov.

Watch more How to Write a Letter videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/92204-How-to-Write-a-Letter-of-Complaint They say the pen is mightier than the sword, so if you’ve had a bad experience with a company, use your mightiest weapon to get satisfaction! Step 1: Go straight to the top Address your letter to the company’s CEO. His secretary will likely forward it to customer service with a personal note, sending your complaint to the top of the pile. In fact, research has found that this trick can triple your chances of a successful outcome. Step 2: Include back-up State the problem and include any back-up materials, such as a sales receipt or any previous correspondence. This will show that you are a serious person who will not be ignored until your complaint is resolved. Tip In addition to your address and phone number, include your email address for a speedy response. Step 3: Be specific State exactly what the company can do to keep you as a customer, whether it’s a refund, store credit, or a replacement. If all you do is complain, chances are all you’ll get back by way of apology is a form letter. Tip Include a reasonable date by which you expect to have a response--two weeks is fair. This will reduce the chances your complaint will land in someone’s to-do-whenever pile. Step 4: Talk up your loyalty If you’re a longtime customer, say so! (And even if you aren’t, it doesn’t hurt to fudge a bit.) Companies do not want to lose loyal customers. Tip Research shows that colorful words like 'appalled,' 'stunned,' or 'shocked,' get better results than quieter ones like 'upset.' Just don’t use more than three of these words, or you’ll end up sounding hostile. Step 5: Make a vague, veiled threat Hint--in a polite, friendly way--what will happen if they don’t make things up to you. For example, say, 'I am surprised that no one has complained yet about your customer service in the online reviews I’ve read' to imply is that you might just add a disgruntled account. Step 6: Keep it short Keep your letter short and to the point. Studies show that after about a page, or 200 words, people lose interest--and sympathy! Step 7: Spell check Don’t forget to spell check your letter. Misspellings make the reader perceive you as unintelligent, which may make them not take your complaint as seriously. Step 8: End on a positive note End by thanking the person 'in advance' for resolving the matter. Did You Know? Transportation services, like planes and trains, receive the most consumer complaints, according to a survey of professional online complaint services.

Write an effective complaint letter There will always come a time when you need to stand up for your rights as a consumer or client. When, upon arriving home, you found out the cheese you bought has molds and is obviously rotten, you have the right to complain, return the product and be reimbursed or have the item replaced with a good one. Well, hopefully when you experience bad purchases, no damage has yet been incurred to life or property. As it is, when harm has been done, your complaint must not only be addressed to the merchandiser or service provider, but to the proper courts as well so you can be indemnified for the damages. In any case, the first step you should do is to write an effective complaint letter to the concerned person or entity to ensure you get fair treatment. Here are tips on how to compose a complaint letter that can jolt the recipients from their seat and give you due attention: Refer to the purchase and transaction details particularly receipts. Recall the name, position and appearance of the employee with whom you transacted. Make sure there is cause for complaint. Now before you compose that letter, see to it that there is a valid reason for your grievance. Although the customer is always right, do not abuse such right. Write a complaint letter because you have something to complain about and not because you just want to assert yourself and prove your value as customer. Sometimes, people who often complain just about anything are given the cold shoulder. Perennial complaining about trivial things will make the merchandisers “immune” to your appeals and they might not listen to you anymore. Make it a direct and straightforward letter. Do not beat around the bush by including details that are not actually connected to the issue at hand. For example, if you are complaining about a defective flat iron you bought from a department store, focus your complaint on the product itself and avoid mentioning other things like the arrangement of the shelves, the snootiness of the customers at the queue and so on. However you must give enough details about the problem to make your complaint worthy of attention. Include photocopies of receipts and other transaction papers. Your letter must be supported by documents or proofs of purchase and payments otherwise it might just end up in the heaps of unattended complaints. State what you want from the seller. Do you want your money back, or do you prefer a replacement? Make specific requests. If you want to talk to the management, state it in the letter and ask for an appointment. However you must understand that even if you are a paying customer, there are others like you who may be seeking remedies for their respective complaints. Therefore, you should be patient as you wait for response. Address your letter to the proper authority. Do not direct your letter to the salesperson who attended to you as he is not in the position to decide on your case. Write the management, the supervisor or the owner of the store. Treat the letter with professionalism. Even if you personally know the person you are writing, make your complaint letter business sounding and formal. Do sound cordial and tactful. Try to come up with a compromise and do not play “hard to get” by imposing on your unreasonable conditions. When you have stated all the important points in your complaint letter, conclude the message by expressing your gratitude. Provide your address and contact numbers so they can get in touch with you anytime regarding your complaint.

Everyone wants to get the most they can out of the things they buy. If you don't, then it's time to complain. The Consumer Federation of America lists the top things that consumers complain about. Some of those items include Utility Service, retailer sales for false advertisement, lending companies, health products and auto and auto repairs, which consumers say extends from faulty repairs and false advertising. With the internet and social media getting stronger everyday, consumers have more avenues to express their complaints. Angela Thompson bought her husband a tool set from from Sears, but was charged for the set twice. She called the company and received no response. She then took her complaint to the Sears facebook page, where she expressed her complaint and she wrote an email and a letter to the CEO. A few days later she received a call and was immediately given a refund. "Don't be afraid to complain, companies want to hear from you." said Marketing Professor Cait Lamberton. In order to complain effectively, you have to follow a few steps, which include but are not limited to the following: •Be prepared, by having receipts, paperwork and account numbers on hand. •Be specific about what you want from the company and who you want to speak too. •Remain Loyal - Let them know that you are a repeated customer, this will make them want to do their best to make sure you get what you need. •Be nice- Think rationally about what's going on, and try to understand that the situation that took place was not anything personal. If you don't know how to write a complaint letter or email, the Federal Trade Commission has a sample letter on their website.

Good luck! Take the quiz on this lesson: https://www.engvid.com/ielts-general-writing-task-1/ TRANSCRIPT Hi. I'm Rebecca from engVid. If you need to do the IELTS general exam, I'm sure it's for a very important reason. Perhaps you're trying to immigrate to another country, or get admission to a college program, or join a professional training program. Whatever your reason, I know you want to get the highest marks possible. Right? Of course. So I'm going to help you to do exactly that in one particular area of the exam, and that's in your writing section. Now, in the writing section there are two parts, one is a letter and one is an essay. In this lesson we will focus on how you can get the highest marks possible in the letter-writing section. Okay? The 14 tips that I'm going to give you I promise you, if you apply each one of these things, step by step you're going to get more and more marks. Okay? So stick with me and we will go through them. Let's get started. So, the first thing you have to identify when you read the letter-writing task is: What type of letter am I being asked to write? Is it a formal letter, is it a semi-formal letter, or is it an informal letter? Well, how do you know that? Well, you can know it in a few ways and I'm going to explain them, but one of the ways that you can know it is to look at the second point that you need to understand, is to identify the purpose of the letter because some purposes are more formal than other purposes. All right? For example, some formal letters might ask you to request information; or apply for a job; or complain about a product or a service, maybe to an airline, maybe to a store, something like that; or to make a suggestion or a recommendation. All right? To a shopping mall, to a restaurant, something like that. These are more formal situations. These are when we are writing to people or companies that we don't know. All right? That's the clue: You don't have anybody's name, you just have the name of the company. All right. Semi-formal letters might include things like this: Complaining to a landlord; or explaining something, a problem or a situation to a neighbour; or asking a professor for permission to miss an exam or to submit your assignment late. Whatever it is. Okay? The details vary. Doesn't matter. And here, what's...? What identifies the semi-formal? The semi-formal we know it's still a kind of a formal situation, but here we usually do know somebody's name. You would know the name of your landlord, or your professor, or your neighbour, for example. Right? So that means something in terms of the way that you write the letter, the language, the tone, the style. All of this is affected by whether it's formal, semi-formal, or informal. And I'll explain more to you as we go along. Now, examples of informal letters might be where you're being asked to invite a friend, or thank a friend, or apologize to a friend, or ask for advice from someone that you know. Okay? Here what's important is that you really know this person well and you're probably going to call them by first name. So I'm going to explain exactly how all of this translates into the next step, which is how you begin your letter. So the first step was to identify the type of letter. Second step, the purpose. Now the third step is to open and close the letter correctly. Once you've done steps one and two, you will know how to do this step. Because if it's a formal letter then you start with: "Dear Sir" or "Madam", and you end with: "Yours faithfully". Okay? That's how it is. If it's a semi-formal letter, you will start with something like: "Dear Mr. Brown" or "Dear Ms. Stone" or "Mrs. Stone". "Ms." Is when you don't know if a woman is married or not, or if she's just a modern woman. And you end the semi-formal letter with something like: "Yours sincerely". Okay? What we're trying to do is to match up the formality of the situation with these terms that we're using. Okay? The opening and closing salutations they're called, these are called. All right? Next is the informal one.

When a dangerous product is introduced into the market, the manufacturer or distributor of that product is legally responsible for any harm that’s caused. Companies are required to test that their products meet safety requirements before selling them to the public. Unfortunately, many companies often do not test their products rigorously enough. Alternatively, products can be designed safely but manufactured or distributed in ways which will put those that purchase or use the products at risk. When this happens, the person who has been harmed by a defective product has the option to file a product liability claim. Product liability claims hold companies responsible when they sell defective or dangerous products. If you’ve been harmed by a defective or dangerous product, call us for a free consultation. With over 70 years of collective legal and trial experience, our attorneys will answer your questions at no cost, help point you in the right direction, and, if need be, represent you in court. http://www.engvid.com/ Do you work in customer service? What do you do when your customer has a problem? In this video, I will teach you how to give great customer service. You will learn many polite expressions you can use with your customers. I will explain the Listen, Apologize, Solve, and Thank (L.A.S.T) method, which will help your performance at any customer service job. I'll also give you my customer service tips for dealing with an angry customer. After this video, watch Rebecca's video about phone customer service: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBSrZYXkkyE Take the quiz at http://www.engvid.com/how-to-give-great-customer-service-the-last-method/ TRANSCRIPT Hello. My name is Emma, and in today's video I am going to teach you a very, very important thing for customer service. I used to work in customer service, and this is actually one of the most important things I learned, and this is called the L-A-S-T or LAST approach. So, to get started, let's talk a little bit about: What is customer service? So, customer service is when you have customers, of course, and you're trying to make your customers as comfortable and happy as possible. You're also trying to meet their needs and expectations, and solve any problems or situations that they might have. So, customer service is a huge category. There's many, many different jobs where you use customer service. If you work in a hotel, for example, as a clerk, you know, in the lobby, as a bellhop, you will be using customer service. If you work at a restaurant as a server, you'll be using customer service, or as a hostess. If you're the manager of a store, you'll be using customer service. If you work in a business or even in a hospital, you'll be using customer service. So, pretty much any time you're dealing with people from the public and they're customers and you're trying to help them, you're doing customer service. So, there are many different problems that a customer might have. What are some examples of some problems? Can you think of anything, a problem a customer might have? Maybe somebody charged them too much for something, maybe they're in a store and the lineups are too long, maybe a customer is at a hotel and they're very unhappy because the Wi-Fi isn't working or their bed's uncomfortable. So, there's so many different problems customers might have at different types of businesses. In this video what I'm going to teach you is: What do you do when a customer has a problem? Okay? So, a very easy thing to do when a customer has a problem is called the LAST approach. "LAST", what does it stand for? Well, if a customer has a problem, the first thing you should do is listen to their problem, the next thing you should do is apologize, solve their problem, and thank them. So: Listen, Apologize, Solve, and Thank. We're going to look at expressions we use to show we're listening, expressions to apologize, expressions that can help us solve problems, and expressions to thank customers. Okay, so the first step when a customer has a problem is to listen. So, the first thing you should do is find out what the problem is. You can ask them: "What seems to be the problem?" or "How can I help you?" Okay? Once they start explaining what the problem is, very important that you look like you're actually listening and that you do listen. Okay? So, you shouldn't look at your watch: "Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm." Okay? That's a bad idea. You shouldn't look at the sky: "Uh, when is this person going to stop talking?" Okay? You shouldn't roll your eyes. Okay? No, no, no. You need to show that you actually care about what the customer is saying. So, showing you're listening is very important. You can repeat back to the customer what they're saying to show that you understand and to make sure that you did understand. So: "So what you're saying is, you know, there's no hot water in this hotel.", "So what you're saying is the Wi-Fi's not working and you're not happy with that." Okay? These are some examples. "So what you're saying is _________." You can also say: "Let me get this right..." "Let me get this right, what you're saying is that, you know, there's a problem at your table.", "What you're saying is that you've been waiting for your food for a really long time." So it's important to show that you are listening and you acknowledge what they have said. Okay. Now, sometimes with customer service you get a customer who's very angry, and maybe they start swearing, they start using very bad language. Okay? So if this happens, very important that you don't get upset. Okay? When this happened to me in the past, I would actually pretend to be a computer. I would not take anything personally. I would just smile and pretend to be a computer, and that's how I got through angry customers. So, if the person is rude... You know, it's not right if somebody is saying something rude to you, if they're swearing at you, or they're making you feel uncomfortable. So, be polite. Okay?

👉 FREE Amazon Appeal Template https://www.amazonsuspension.com/amazon-appeal-template-plan-of-action/ 👉 Get professional help appealing your suspension https://www.bizzexpert.com/getamazonunbanned/ Banned for inauthentic item appeal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_DfJHGKkyg Amazon Suspended for "poor performance" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdKu6DW0RRg Selling privileges removed for multiple accounts solution: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rnkw6hcoum How Amazon Suspended My Account Unfairly & How to Appeal Appeal Account SuspensionAmazon Suspended I fail to understand why Amazon does not know that someone can actually use any other computer to log into their seller accounts. I sell jewelry on Amazon and so far I have been enjoying the experience thanks to the good sales. I have a friend who also sells electronics on Amazon. Last week, her account was suspended because a few customers complained about her products not being brand new as she claims. I normally use her computer when am at her place but I never knew that Amazon suspends accounts based on IP addresses. Even if Amazon thinks that our accounts are linked, jewelry and electronics are not related plus the accounts are registered with different credentials. The reason for my returns being high is automatically ruled out because very rarely did I have products returned by my customers. Did Amazon suspend your account? Amazon insider reveals a little-known technique on how to get your banned account reinstated - and how you can easily and safely open a new Amazon account. Click here to learn more The kind of treatment that am receiving from their customer care is just heartbreaking. No one is responding to my problem and I think that it is very unfair because this is my second year selling. Right now my business is at a standstill and I understand that the procedure might take way too long or worse, my account is gone. I have done nothing wrong and still, Amazon suspended my seller account. I have heard about such cases before but I never thought they were real. If anything, Amazon should make it clear that they use IP addresses to evaluate accounts which is kind of a lame thing to do. Unless the suspensions are automated, they should know that they are actually interfering with other peoples lives. I am now forced to expand my business to eBay until hopefully my Amazon suspended appeal is over and they reinstated my account. . Amazon needs to change the way they deal with these issues especially if someone has not done anything breaking their selling terms. How to appeal an Amazon suspension Step 1: Find the reason of suspension Amazon can suspend a seller account for nothing. Behind such a decision is always a well-documented reason. The first major possible reason why Amazon suspended your business is that you followed poorly the Seller Policies imposed by the online retailer at the stage of account creation. Probably, you either sold a restricted product, created more accounts than accepted, or violated the price policy. The second major reason is the incredibly low seller performance of your business. Amazon checks for the performance evolution of each account and sets acceptable thresholds that are not recommended to be violated. Probably, you have too much negative feedback from clients, or your late shipment rate has jumped over the acceptable 4%. Step 2: Create an informative appeal Once you have spotted the issue, go on by creating a consistent plan of action that would provide Amazon with a clear explanation of what and why happened with your account, and a list of confident steps that you intend to take, so that it does not happen anymore. First, begin with an introductory paragraph, where you inform Amazon about your business. Then, you need to give a detailed description of the issue due to which Amazon suspended your account. Provide trusted data and figures from your research, to familiarize the retailer with the root of the problem, and prove that you really want and know how to tackle it and set your business back on track. Present an action plan that includes new tools and mechanisms that are to be applied for a better functioning of your account. Say what steps have been done, and what your team intends to do in the future to ensure a rapid recovery of your account. Step 3: Send the appeal As you finished writing the appeal, send it to Amazon for review. Go in Performance Notifications, where your seller suspension is Then, click on Appeal Decision, and put there your plan of action, joined by a phone number Finally, press the Submit Appeal button, and wait for Amazon’s response. Usually, the response comes in two days. Leave a comment below if your Amazon account has been suspended as well.

Since the release of a new Nike ad campaign featuring Colin Kaepernick Monday, many customers of the shoe giant have been destroying their branded apparel in a fiery protest of the partnership. Kaepernick is the new face of the company as Nike marks the 30th anniversary of its "Just Do It" campaign. The new ad features the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback with the words, “Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything," a reference to his stalled NFL career.

Q&A Saturday. Yesssss! "We bought our Nissan Navara D40 in 2013. We purchased an extended warranty (total of 5 years warranty). In the first three years we had numerous things go wrong with the vehicle: torque converter, heater core, EGR sensor, etc. These were fixed without any complaint. We only made one extended warranty claim (lower control arms). "To date we’ve spent over $6k in servicing and over $1800 on the extended warranty. Now we’re told the turbo needs replacing. Quoted price is over $4k. The vehicle is just out of warranty and has under 100,000km on the clock. "The dealer has denied an out of warranty claim, even though we have had the vehicle serviced by Nissan at the one dealership, as per the schedule. Our next step was to raise a goodwill claim with Nissan Australia. We felt we had a case, but this too was denied." Extended warranties are a complete scam. Do not buy one or agree to one. The ASIC is absolutely scathing about extended warranties. In fact, extended warranties give you no greater protection than the legislated ‘Acceptable Quality’ consumer guarantee, which you get for free because it’s a law. In a nutshell, if a component is not reasonably durable: ie if it fails earlier than a reasonable consumer would expect it to last, then the manufacturer is legally obliged to replace it free, regardless of the vehicle’s warranty status. In my view your matter has nothing whatsoever to do with goodwill and everything to do with Nissan’s legal obligations to support the product. And they are firmly in the corporate shithead camp on honouring their consumer law obligations, if you ask me. If the car’s been serviced properly and on time, and not abused, then it is categorically unreasonable for a turbo to fail in five years and under 100,000km. Instead of asking those cocks for help, however, write them a formal demand using the ACCC’s ‘complaint letter tool’ (Google will find that for you). If that doesn’t work, get your solicitor on it, and ask them to write a proper demand. "I see Audi A8s heavily depreciated and they seem like an attractive purchase, same as high level CLS Benz. Is this too good to be true? Am I missing something here? Also, can you do a small FAQ on whether you need to balance your wheels every time you rotate them? I don't think you do, but try telling a tyre retailer that!" - Antony S 7-Series, A8, CLS, etc., they all depreciate fairly heavily. This does make them seem attractive, used. Unfortunately the cost of spare parts, service and repairs - keeping them on the road - does not depreciate in line with the cars themselves. $15-20k for a replacement transmission; that kind of thing… Too common. So, in a nutshell, it’s all good until something goes wrong. But even normal items that wear out regularly, like tyres and brakes, are very expensive. If you can’t afford a new one, you probably can’t afford to keep an old one on the road if something goes wrong. On wheel balancing: No - you don’t need to balance the wheels and tyres if all you do is change their position on the car. If the car starts shaking - especially at a particular speed, and it goes away at other speeds - then that’s nature’s way of telling you you need a wheel balance. "I recently refinanced a car with a novated lease through my employer - I’ve been trying to sell the car since I bought it (it's one of your lemons) and the financier knew this. Having bought the finance on the car for $18k - the payout figure from them now includes the balloon figure - a profit of $8k plus interest payments in less than 6 months. Does that make sense? I was thinking of contacting the finance ombudsman…" - Imogen D This is why it’s so important to align your objectives with the finance you buy. A lot of finance contracts provide substantial penalties for early payout - mainly because the financier doesn’t get ahead until later on in the term. So if you pull the rug out from under them, early, they reciprocate. Basically when you put that pen on the page and sign your name, you agree to all the fine print - which many people do not read. And then, when your situation changes, such as by selling the car and needing to get out of the contract early, the financier inserts its ice-cold speculum into your … ahhh … bank account. And you think that’s a violation, but it’s not because you said that was OK - in the fine print, which you probably did not read. Check all the details with your accountant - but on the balance of probabilities I think you’re stuck with it. If they are bending you over, over and above the terms of the contract you agreed to, refer it to the ombudsman.

I know, I know... It's not THAT bad. True, but when you're soending good money at a sitdown, you want to be taken care of a bit, no? Good service can make or break a meal for me. Add a weak-ass florentine on top of it, and you've got a cranky M-Rob. YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE FOOD. OK, thanks for putting up with all my complaining! See you tomorrow :)

A BMX champion has dropped Monster Energy as his sponsors because, he says, their logo and advertising are unchristian. Two-time X-Games gold medalist and newly minted Mormon Colton Satterfield (pictured left and right) announced last week that he was ditching Monster Energy drink. 'The decision was not a light one by any means,' he said in a statement. 'I regret something seemingly so small, to some, as logos and various marketing, has to divide us; but I know it is the correct decision for me.' It's unclear what disturbed him about the logo (inset), but some Christian conspiracy theorists say that the claw mark symbol represents the Hebrew letter 'vav' three times. Since 'vav' means six, the logo theoretically spells '666' - the number of Satan. This video provides instructions on use of a spreadsheet, available for download at http://www.legaltree.ca/node/1932. The spreadsheet is designed to allow delegation of task, for example by lawyers to a legal assistant. It allows creation of tasks which are put on a task list and reordering of tasks according to priority. Assistants then move the tasks to a "completed tasks" section of the spreadsheet as the tasks are completed. The spreadsheet should be saved as a shared workbook so it can be simultaneously accessed by many users on a network e.g. lawyers adding tasks and assistants completing them. See http://www.legaltree.ca/node/1932 for more info.
