52:40
bmanning81 / kdassing As a Project Manager, Strategist, Developer, Designer, or Stakeholder, we are all part of the puzzle—and it's crucial to keep sight of the big picture—even when we’re required to pivot from the original plan. Pivots come in a variety of shapes and sizes. They can be a minor change that’s quickly integrated into scope or a major departure that alters the entire course of the project. When you encounter these shifts, it’s vital you strategize, communicate, and continue to capture the vision of the client so the final product is a solid foundation for your client’s goals and KPIs—not a point of resentment. Each pivot adds a new element that you have to take into account. If you keep some key points in mind, you will be able to deliver your project on time, within budget, and create a lasting relationship with your client... In this session, we’ll review the following concepts for managing projects in danger of derailment: Kicking off the project with an organized team and plan of attack Capturing the client's vision Asking the right questions early Communicating with your whole team Strategy Development Design QA Stakeholders (yes, they are part of your team, too!) Avoiding the dreaded “overcommitment” Identifying the Goal and Plan on how to accomplish it Being ready to PIVOT PIVOT, PIVOT, PIVOT Keeping your team grounded in the delivery Managing team morale and motivation Avoiding burnout and frustration Don’t get caught up in too many meetings Continue CLEARLY communicating with your stakeholders Getting ready to deliver with success! Communication in the 21st Century: Is It What You Say, Not How You Say It? | Vivian Ta | TEDxUTA

10:17
Nonverbal behaviors have historically been regarded as more important in communication than verbal behaviors. This talk will argue how and why verbal behaviors, rather than nonverbal behaviors, are most critical in today's digital society. Vivian P. Ta is a PhD student at the University of Texas at Arlington where she conducts research in social and personality psychology. Specifically, her research focuses on examining the role of latent semantic similarity in a variety of interactions, including romantic relationships, friends, strangers, face-to-face interactions, and computer-mediated interactions. Notification of changes: How, what and when to communicate with your Notified Body?

12:48
Innovation triggers changes. The Medical Device Industry more than any other industry, follows the course of demands and needs that see thousands of technologies transform through the years, devices evolving into new generations of products. Those changes can either be features added to answer a specific design challenge or a simple evolution to enhance the usability of the device to benefit patient(s) or end user(s). Changes can also be linked to the company’s situation: site relocation or expansion, a change in critical supplier(s) or a merger/acquisition. Before operating a change, manufacturers need to understand the impact with regards to the regulations and applicable standards; and how this change will reflect on the device or company’s certification. The company needs to evaluate the extent of this change on its daily operations, by anticipating its impact on its upcoming audit. Significant changes for example need to be evaluated by your Notified Body prior to their implementation to confirm if any additional evaluations are needed to maintain the device /Quality System conformity. In this webinar, you will learn about: Definition of change notice (significant change, minor change etc.) Common scenarios of change notices (relocation, extension within scope, design change, transition to new standard etc.) Ideal timelines for communication of change notice to your Notified Body FAQ

How to Launch Your Next Project /w with Product Hunt's Ryan Hoover

01:11:16
Ryan Hoover is most notably known as the founder of the website that brings you all the world’s newest products and technologies, Product Hunt. He’s also a writer and founder of his new VC firm, Weekend Fund which he admits he started because he’s constantly chasing the warm fuzzy feelings he gets from helping other people. Some call him Silicon Valley’s “resident nice guy” and it won’t take you long to figure out why. Ryan sees more product launches than perhaps anyone else in the world and knows how to do it well and how to do it poorly. He shares his insights for his path of launching (and continuing to launch) Product Hunt and what he notices in the 100’s of launches that make it to his virtual doorstep, daily. In today’s episode: * If you want to start something and stick with it for the long haul, scratch your own itch. Product Hunt was built out of Ryan’s own curiosity and drive to share new products with his friends. * Building community is greater than building products. Successful products are rarely built in a dark dungeon and then released to the world, perfect and ready to go viral. Before you launch anything, it’s crucial to build a community of people who care about what you’re building and seek their feedback every step of the way. * You’re one decision away from an entirely different life. We talk about how to resist the urge to take the easy route and make a path to living a life that you want to live. Enjoy! ---------------- Today's episode is brought to you by CreativeLive. Excel Drop Down List Automatically Changes Product Name to Code

03:30
http://www.contextures.com/excelfiles.html#DV0004 Download the Excel 2007 sample file from this link. To make it easier for users to enter data in an Excel workbook, create drop down lists in the cells, by using Excel data validation. In this example there is a list of products on one worksheet, and the drop down lists will be created on a different worksheet. The list of products is named, and that name is used to create the drop down list. The drop down list shows the product name and the product code. After the product is selected, the full description is automatically replaced by the product code, by using Excel VBA that runs when the worksheet is changed. Watch this video to see the steps for creating an Excel Table, naming a column in that table, then using that name when creating the data validation drop down list.

Our product vision: a single point of communication that allows organizations to communicate with their employees, customers, suppliers and everyone in their environment in an easy and efficient way. We are working with companies that frequently communicate on various channels and are experiencing losses due to inefficient corporate communication. This is causing customer engagement and loyalty problems. What we do: we offer a single point of communication, which means better customer engagement, loyalty to your company and increased communication efficiency. Companies that are managing most of their communication through a number of different points within their IT infrastructure and are experiencing high maintenance costs can also benefit significantly from the Co-sender platform. Any change in communication would normally require a specific set of technical competencies and know how to locate, design and implement the necessary changes across various IT systems. This process results in high maintenance costs. Co-sender allows companies to shift all communication management from various points within their IT infrastructure to a single hub and reduce operational costs.

How to change Basic English into Business English

05:46
http://www.engvid.com/ Want to get that job? Improve your image? Sound more professional? Learn how to transform simple English words to business English vocabulary and watch your career take off! I'll show you how to change "get" to "receive", " make sure" to "ensure", "give more information" to "elaborate", and more. These small vocabulary changes will make a huge difference in your English level. Test yourself on this lesson at http://www.engvid.com/how-to-change-basic-english-into-business-english/ TRANSCRIPT: Hi. My name is Rebecca from www.engvid.com. Today, you're going to learn how to speak more professionally in business situations. Now, at times, it's all right to use informal language. It's acceptable in everyday situations. But there are times when you'll want to create a more powerful impression. And at that time, you'll want to be able to use business English. What's the difference between general English and business English? Well, sometimes, there's not very much difference. Sometimes, general English is used in business contexts. But sometimes, you use a higher-level word. And that's what I'm going to teach you in this lesson. Let's look at some really easy, common examples. For example, if you say -- or if you want to say, "I got your email", in regular English, you might just say, "I got your email." What would you say if you want to make it business English? You would say -- I'm giving you a clue. The word starts with R. Instead of saying, "I got your email"; "I received your email." Okay? Now, it becomes more formal and more business-like. Suppose you want to tell someone, "I need your help" or, "I need some help." What word could you use that starts with R instead of "need"? "Require." So instead of saying -- and you can also change more than the verb. The verb is the key, but you could say -- instead of saying, "I need some help", you could say, "I require some assistance." Now, you've changed two words, the verb and also a noun. Let's try another one. "Let's talk about it later." Which business word could you use? "Let's discuss -- let's discuss it later." That sounds much more professional than saying, "Let's talk about it later." Next one. "How do I get in touch with her?" What word could you use instead of that? "How do I contact her?" Okay? Good. "Please make sure you arrive on time." Which business word could you use instead of "make sure"? "Please ensure you arrive on time." "Please give her your travel plans." Instead of saying "give", you could say, "Please provide her with your itinerary." There, we've changed another word. Instead of saying "travel plan" or "travel plans", you could use the word "itinerary". An "itinerary" is usually a piece of paper or a document that lists your travel plans, when you're departing, when you're arriving, where, when, and so on. "Please let them know when you will be arriving." "Please let them know" -- instead of that, you could say, "Please inform them of your arrival." Okay? Good. "Please tell me why you've made this decision." "Please explain your decision." "Could you please talk some more about that subject?" "Could you please elaborate? Could you please elaborate on that." Now, this is actually a very useful word if you go to a conference or a meeting and you want someone to speak some more about a particular point or issue. It's a good, kind of, question to learn. "Could you please elaborate on that?" So "to elaborate" means to speak more or talk more, give more information. "How are you going to fix this problem?" Better than using the word "fix" is the word "solve". "How are you going to solve this problem?" All right? So try to do that for every simple word that you know and basic word that you know in general English, try to find a slightly more formal version, which will be your business English word. And use these words in an office environment. If you've found this helpful, please subscribe to my channel on YouTube. And if you'd like to do a quiz on this subject, you can also go to our website, www.engvid.com. Thanks very much. Good luck with your English.

Research Without Borders Panel: Communicating Your Research: Social Media and the Research Cycle

01:49:57
At every stage in the research cycle -- planning, researching, preserving, publishing, and distributing -- social media is being used by researchers and scholars to communicate, collaborate, promote their research, and debate. As scholars increasingly move their work to the web, conversations that previously took place within campus walls are now open for the world to pitch in. The benefits of using social media in the academy have been cited, among myriad others, as democratization, widening participation, and engaging new audiences on a global level. But these rapid changes come with challenges: steep learning curves in new technologies for many, committing to public engagement, and embedding social media in everyday work flows. In this Research Without Borders event, hosted by Columbia University's Center for Digital Research and Scholarship's Scholarly Communication Program, panelists Adeline Koh, Roopika Risam, Joshua Drew, and Laura Czerniewicz discuss how social media is changing the way researchers and scholars communicate with each other, on their campuses, and with the public. Carol Abade

Carol Abade - Group CEO of Exp, South Africa Driving change though experiential approaches. Commercial Marketing techniques have been a foundation for the development of BCC messages in many developing countries. For the most part, this has resulted in reliance on advertising to disseminate information through mass media channels. The changes in marketing and in media consumption patterns as we know it, have rendered advertising as an ineffective tool in driving BCC. Experiential marketing techniques offers a more effective outcome because it is better designed towards integration and is a bottom up planning model focused on engaging identified audiences as opposed to communicating messages. The session will aim to better understand that changes in marketing as well as the tools applied in Experiential Marketing for the development of behaviour change communication.

Finding new friends is not as easy as it sounds, but if you know the process and steps that will increase the chance of you running into your new best friend, you are one step closer to finding that new friend. Friendship is not about whom you've know the longest; it's about who came and never left your side. Aaron Marino of alpha m. has been doing a lot of soul searching lately and he's been considering who he calls 'friends'. These people aren't acquaintances but 'true friends' that you can probably count on one hand. Alpha talks about 'friends by proxy'. He also discusses what happens when you graduate from high school. At this point there's a fork in the road: people stay and people leave. The dilemma during this change is not having friends. How do you make new friends? It's not easy but it's possible by being willing to be uncomfortable and putting yourself out there. Set yourself for success. Friend Finding Tips 1. Spend time around people - if you isolate yourself, you can't make new friends. Be social like going to a sporting event, visiting a coffee shop, go to a bar. 2. Join a club, group, or organization - you'll meet like-minded people 3. Volunteer - do something good for the community while building a bond and camaraderie with those around you 4. Start conversations - talk to everybody! Sometimes the conversations will stick, thus a friendship is started. 5. Small talk - Small Talk Skills 6. Reintroduce yourself at the end of a conversation - get that name to stick! 7. Accept every invitation 8. Ask other people to do things - push yourself outside of your comfort zone and ask others to do things like lunch, coffee, drink, see a concert 9. Keep your friend - be a good friend by listening, being loyal, being trustworthy, being reliable, being yourself

Aaron Marino of alpha m. wants you to think of someone who you think has a magnetic personality. What about their personality makes someone have a 'good personality'? It's hard to nail down because there are so many aspects of a personality. Alpha M. has broken down personality into traits which each can be improved to improve personality overall. 1. Be a better listener - engage, put phone down, make eye contact 2. Become more interesting - engaging and actively seeking out education and information 3. Practice and adopt a more optimistic outlook on life - talk about positive things and look at things differently 4. Be encouraging and supportive to others - people raise you up with positive energy 5. Have integrity and treat people with respect 6. Don't talk about people, make fun of other people, and gossip 7. Don't be afraid to be yourself 8. Have the ability to laugh at yourself 9. Do things that you need to do daily to facilitate your confidence - if you like what you see looking back in the mirror and know you bring value to the world, this confidence will transition to everything in your life.

Transforming Your Company's Culture | Tony Robbins Podcast

42:01
Transforming Your Company’s Culture - Tony Robbins Podcast To become a business owner, not just a business operator, you need to work to create a transformative company culture. The purpose of a business is to create raving fans, both inside and outside the company. This means that you learn how to change organizational culture in such a way that your employees feel excited to come into the office every day, enabling them to become more passionate about their work. This infectious energy will be apparent to customers and partners of the business, which in turn will cause them to be more enthusiastic about your service or product as well. To do this, you need to identify what the culture is to have an impact, and you need to think about what makes the business and its corporate culture greater than you and your needs. By changing organizational culture to fit the needs of your staff — and better yet, the needs of a community, larger cause or the planet — will enable you to get your team on board. Company culture is about more than free food or gym perks. It’s about what the business stands for and how they share their views with others. Your company culture directly impacts your team’s happiness, which affects turnover rate. If your turnover rate is high, you lose momentum when it comes to productivity and therefore limit your success. This podcast will help you identify how to create a vibrant company culture at your office. Tony Robbins interviews Marissa Levin, CEO of Information Experts. Levin believes that quality culture is a company’s greatest secret weapon in attracting employees and reaching success. In other words, “Culture is king.” Marissa Levin says that whether you’re intentionally trying to create one or not, your business has a corporate culture that affects how your team feels when they come into the office every day. With this in mind, why not be deliberate in developing a culture that will satisfy your employees and create a better bond among your team? The core values of the company should be laid out by executives, with input from employees as well. Once core values are in place, every aspect of the company should reflect those values.
