A simple guide to electronic components.
By request:- A basic guide to identifying components and their functions for those who are new to electronics. This is a work in progress, and I welcome feedback from you guys on whether I should break it down into more manageable chunks. I've kept the maths to a minimum, since it can be off-putting to someone just getting started in electronics. The idea of this video is to slot in some more of the jigsaw pieces involved in learning electronics, when you start to recognise components, but aren't quite sure what they are or what they do. It's tricky to squeeze even the basics into a single video, and I've just realised how long this one is (and why it took all night to upload). If you enjoy my videos you can support the channel with a dollar for coffee, cookies and components at https://www.patreon.com/bigclive

Installing baseboard quarter round trim to a laminate floor
http://www.VideoJoeKnows.com Installing baseboard quarter round trim to a laminate floor is easy....when you know how. Do you have to install the quarter round trim to the baseboard, with nails? You could but make sure to attach the quarter round trim to the base board and not to the actual laminate flooring. The laminate flooring is designed to be a free floating floor as it could expand & contract so you don't want to attach the quarter round to it. Did "joe" install the quarter round to the baseboard with nails? No. He used something else! If you only have one or two rooms to do, you might want to consider attaching your quarter round trim in this same way. Installing laminate flooring & baseboard quarter round trim just got a little easier. All you have to do is check out "joe's" videos! http://www.VideoJoeKnows.com

08 common Interview question and answers - Job Interview Skills
08 common Interview question and answers - Job Interview Skills 1. "Tell me a little about yourself." You should take this opportunity to show your communication skills by speaking clearly and concisely in an organized manner. Because there is no right or wrong answer for this question, it is important to appear friendly. 2. "What are your strengths?" This is a popular interview question. They want to know what you think of yourself. Although this is a general question, there is a wrong and right answer. The wrong answer is a generic answer saying you are organized and friendly. Although it will not hurt you during the interview, it will certainly not help you either. Answer this question based on the type of job you are applying for. 3. "What are your weaknesses?" For this answer, you should display a weakness that can be seen as a strength. There are many types of answers that will work. Some answers will be good answers for certain jobs, while the same answer will be a bad answer for a different job. Select an answer that will work for the position you are applying for. 4. "Where do you see yourself in five years?" This question primarily depends on where you are in your career. A person with 5 years of experience will have different goals than a person with no work experience. This question is asked to see how serious a candidate is about his or her career. Some people might not know their goals, and some people might have goals of becoming rich and retiring early. Those are incorrect answers for this question. The type of answer you want to give is an ambitious answer that shows you really love your career. A good interviewer will read between the lines and find out if a person is going to be a hard worker or just a mediocre one. Being descriptive and shooting for a big goal is something interviewers want to hear. 5. "What do you know about our company?" A typical job interview question, asked to find out how much company research you have conducted, is "What do you know about this company?" Prepare in advance, and in a word, research, so you can provide relevant and current information about your prospective employer to the interviewer. 6. "Are you good at dealing with change?" Dealing with change is common in the work place. A simple yes will not be sufficient to impress the interviewer. This is another type of question where everyone will have similar answers. Of course everyone is going to claim being excellent dealing with change. You got to communicate that you are really good at dealing with change. 7. "Do you work well under pressure?" In most cases, the best answer to this question is answering yes. Working well under pressure is a good trait to have. However, I think if you answer that you work the same with pressure and without pressure, the interviewer will be more impressed. However, you will need to explain in words why this is better. 8. "How do you make important decisions?" There are many ways to answer this question, and if you have a reasonable method of making decisions, it will probably be sufficient. One answer I thought of included not being afraid of asking your manager. You can follow up by saying even the best needs mentoring, and you always want to improve. So basically, this could work as an answer, but depending on the job, you might have a better shot with an answer like my example.
The single biggest reason why startups succeed | Bill Gross
Bill Gross has founded a lot of startups, and incubated many others — and he got curious about why some succeeded and others failed. So he gathered data from hundreds of companies, his own and other people's, and ranked each company on five key factors. He found one factor that stands out from the others — and surprised even him. Produced by John Sutherland. Originally a public domain film from the Library of Congress Prelinger Archives, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and one-pass brightness-contrast-color correction & mild video noise reduction applied. The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and/or equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automobile_Manufacturers_Association Wikipedia license: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ The Automobile Manufacturers Association was a trade group of automobile manufacturers which operated under various names in the United States from 1911 to 1999. A different group called the Automobile Manufacturers' Association was active in the very early 1900s, but then dissolved. Another early group was the Association of Licensed Automobile Manufacturers, formed in 1903 and which was involved in licensing and collecting royalties from the George Baldwin Selden engine patent. Henry Ford effectively defeated the patent in court in 1911 and the Association of Licensed Automobile Manufacturers dissolved. However, the same manufacturers regrouped later in 1911 and formed the Automobile Board of Trade. In 1913, this became the National Automobile Chamber of Commerce. In 1934, this group renamed itself to the Automobile Manufacturers Association. This was the name the group had the longest and became the best known by. It focused upon establishing a code for fair competition. In 1939, it moved its headquarters from New York City, where it had been close to bankers, to Detroit, where the manufacturers were all based. The organization had a budget of $1 million at the time. During the early stages of World War II, the association played a role in adapting American automotive manufacturing capabilities towards arms production efforts, especially regarding large aircraft engines. Within hours of the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, the association invited all companies in the larger automotive industry, regardless of whether they were association members, to join a new cooperative undertaking, the Automotive Council for War Production. Some 654 manufacturing companies joined, and produced nearly $29 billion in output, including tremendous numbers of motorized vehicles, tanks, engines, and other products for the Allied military forces. Between a fifth and a quarter of all U.S. wartime production was accounted for by the automotive industry. In 1950, the association published the book, Freedom's Arsenal: The Story of the Automotive Council for War Production, to document this achievement. In August 1972, the group changed its name to the Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association, to reflect the growing importance of truck makers... In late 1992, the group expelled Honda, Volvo, and heavy truck makers and changed its name to the American Automobile Manufacturers Association... The American Automobile Manufacturers Association was... phased out in January 1999, and a new and different successor group, the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, was formed that included a large number of foreign-owned manufacturers... http://articles.latimes.com/2001/feb/27/local/me-30915 John Sutherland; Acclaimed for Artistry of His Industrial Films Obituaries February 27, 2001|ELAINE WOO | TIMES STAFF WRITER John Elliot Sutherland, an award-winning industrial and educational filmmaker whose subjects ranged from cancer and chemistry to General Electric and the New York Stock Exchange, has died. He was 90, and died Feb. 17 in Van Nuys after a short illness, according to his son, Eric, of Chicago. Sutherland began making live-action training films for the military during World War II. Trimco 1205 Base Stop
Please find this product at http://absupply.net/searchfast.aspx?videoid=sDrisz_TBXk This video is to bring you a closer look at the Trimco 1205613. This is a baseboard mounted door stop, not baseboard mounted but it's a base mounted door stop, to the wall or a wall mounted. Not your average one though, this is very heavy duty, very durable, something that you're going to see on those doors that take a constant amount of use and abuse, high volume applications that would exceed 1 million cycles, things like that, schools, public places, things like that. The 1205 is representative of this straight style of stop; it is also representative of the fact that this is the type that features a threaded bolt into the base. Here's your screw package, by the way. What's really nice about a screw package from Trimco is you get everything. You're going to get your threaded bolt, and a lead expansion shield, you'll get a hanger bolt in case you're going into something that's wood. You're going to get a small lead expansion shield, and a wood screw, and a machine screw, the machine screw would go with the small lead expansion shield. Threaded part goes in here, either machine or wood thread at the other end. Same aspect down here where you'll lose the smaller stuff, great quality item. The fit and finish is superb on this material from Trimco, and that is a statement that is synonymous with Trimco "superb fit and finish". Every time I see the material, I just like it a lot. The rubber tip is durable, non-marring. Dimensionally, Trimco has this item at 3-3/4" projection, with a 2-1/4" base dimension. So 3-3/4" is what they called it at, it's closer to 3-5/8". Then we've got 2-1/4", we're in good shape right there. Available in several different architectural finishes, your brasses, your bronze, your chromes, polished satin, things of that nature. Very nice quality item. Trimco the name is synonymous with trim and auxiliary hardware, not only door stops, but push plates, pull plates, they have an entire decorative line of architectural door pulls, and they have their handicap or their ADA compliant sliding or pocket door pulls which is a proprietary unique item to Trimco alone. If you have any questions on the Trimco 1205 base door stop straight, or any other Trimco product, please feel free to reach out to us.

How To Caulk Baseboard Trim-Tutorial For Hiding Gaps
In this video, I show you how to caulk baseboard trim. When you first install baseboards and quarter rounds, there will likely be some gaps that will ruin the look of the trim. You can easily use caulking to hide those gaps and give the baseboard trim a perfectly finished look. All that you have to do is apply some caulking on the gaps, and use a damp rag to smooth out the bead of caulking. Arafura Resources leveraged to 'increasing market with a very limited supply base'
Arafura Resources Ltd (ASX:ARU) CEO Gavin Lockyer speaks to Proactive Investors about the memorandum of understanding signed with JingCi Material Science Co Ltd for the supply of neodymium-praseodymium (NdPr) oxide from the rare earths-focused company's Nolans Project in Australia's Northern Territory. Lockyer says, "this offtake really plays in nicely with our development program at the moment. We're almost [completed with] our definitive feasibility study, the results of which are due to be released by the end of this year. Together with these offtake agreements that we're working hard to formalise, that will accumulate in project finance and project execution, and in investment decision by our board in the new year - which is extremely exciting for us."

Reliable heat sinks for your power semiconductors.
Ender Cetin tells you how our products improve the heat dissipation in electronic packages. Did you know that every day you probably have something to do with electronic equipment that produces heat flows as high as those found in a rocket during launching? My name is Ender Cetin, and I am a Sales Manager at Plansee. I advise customers on how to improve heat management for electronic components to increase their service life. Tiny chip surfaces such as the power transistors in the base stations of mobile communication networks or hybrid vehicles have to dissipate anything up to 1000 Watts per square centimeter. If the semiconductor was not connected to a base plate that rapidly dissipates the heat, it would quickly overheat. There is virtually no other material better suited for this than our composite materials and laminates made from molybdenum-copper and tungsten-copper. Here, you can see that their thermal conductivity is almost as high as pure copper. The comparison also shows that our composite materials based on tungsten and molybdenum have similar thermal expansion properties to semiconductor and ceramic materials. On the one hand, this prevents the chips themselves or the packaging from being damaged as a result of mechanical stress when the components are being soldered together. In operation, the upshot is that the semiconductor and the base plate it is connected to expand at virtually the same rate as the temperature in the chip rises. This means that no cracks form and the components have a longer service life. Our materials are available as semi-finished products or ready-to-install components in many different designs and coatings. Would you like to find out more? Just visit us at plansee.com.

Gold Fingers - How to Recover Gold from Electronic Scrap
http://www.goldnscrap.com In this video tutorial i'm showing how to recover gold from electronic circuit board scrap. Specifically the gold plating that is found on the board connector edge - A.K.A the "fingers". This video is a complementary to the complete written tutorial on Gold-N-Scrap website (direct link below) The process applies to other kinds of gold plated itmes, given the substrate is unreactive (such as PCB, ceramic, glass etc'...). This process is less suitable for metallic items that are gold plated such as gold plated pins and gold filled items, though it will work with much effort and large consumption of acid. Post a comment and let us know how much gold do you think this recovery process yielded. What Are The Best Sound Damping Materials & How Do They Work?
Sign up for my free room acoustic training videos and ebook at http://www.acousticfields.com/free-ebook Today we're going to talk about sound damping materials versus sound absorbing materials. These terms are used interchangeably and they're really not. They pertain to completely different things, completely different concepts and mechanisms; related but really different and there's a lot of confusion in it. Let's try to clear some of that up today. Sound damping materials, the operative word here is damping. Damping is really a vibrational term. We damp vibrations. Remember the rock on top of an amplifier? It got better sound, well it got different sound because that's an electromechanical system and you put some mass on it, you change the vibrational signature, so to speak of the unit. Damping is a process that's relegated to vibration and the science of vibration. Damping is a process we use in barrier technology. When you build a real nice recording studio, you have 2 rooms really within one room. You have the inside room, which is where you use your sound absorption and sound diffusion treatments and you have an exterior shell, which keeps the noise from the neighborhood and surrounding areas out. It keeps the bass drum and guitar and electric guitar from coming out of the studio also, hopefully. Damping is a vibrational term used in vibration. We want to keep those two separate but distinct. Really what we're talking about, instead of saying sound damping materials, we should say, and people think that sound damping means sound absorption. It does not. Sound absorbing materials should be called sound absorbing materials and sound attenuation is the process whereby you use that sound absorption to reduce the energy levels but sound dampening and sound absorption are different, very, very different and let's look how. Let's use an example to illustrate sound damping. We discussed the two rooms that we have really in our studios that we build. We have the inside room and then we have the outside shell. The outside shell is really the barrier between outside noise coming in and inside noise going out. In that barrier technology, we use, a lot of times, multiple layers of materials, multiple layers with different densities. Why? Why different densities? Because what we're trying to do is trick, if you will or fool, to apply human terms to it, this huge pressure wave that the bus outside or that garbage truck has produced and this wave is headed into our studio. How are we going to stop it? The quickest way to stop it is through an erected barrier, between it and us. The barrier has to be selected based on frequency, space requirements and obviously budget. Barrier technology is very expensive. It can go $350, $450, $550, a square foot in some cases. Barrier technology, keeping unwanted noise out is very, very expensive to do and to do it right, especially if you have low noise requirements for the room you seek. How do we do that? How do we do it in the best way? Obviously we want to achieve the most impact in the smallest amount of space and obviously not have it weigh very much. Well we can't satisfy all those criteria so it's going to weigh a lot. We use multiple layers and the layers of materials that we use have different densities and that as a vibration, if you're a vibration or a sound energy wave striking this surface and you encounter one density, it's going to distort your wave form X. When it strikes a material of another density, it's going to do X plus that material. When it strikes another material, it's going to do X plus that material. It's this series of materials that the energy wave has to go through so that it's reduced in amplitude on the other side. There's actually a name for that process. It's called constrained layer mass damping. I know that's a mouthful but basically it's the arrangement of materials. It's the choosing of densities. It's the arrangement of those materials with those densities that causes this huge wave to be reduced into something that's not so bothersome or troublesome. Damping technology is really associated with vibrations and we should really keep it in that domain. Sound absorption technology is really that. It refers to the process of absorption that's converting sound to heat. Damping really refers to vibrational control. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks Dennis
