Between the Andaman sea and the Strait of Malacca, the Malaysian peninsula has seen spectacular growth in under a quarter of a century. Primary forests, mountains, idyllic islands, a fine sandy coastline and exceptional wildlife: Malaysia is one of the world’s richest regions in terms of biodiversity. But the population, too, is an equally colourful kaleidoscope. Malay, Chinese, Indian and Tamil populations, along with other ethnic minorities, line the amazing itinerary covered by Pierre Brouwers, from futuristic sky-scrapers to impenetrable jungle.

I left Penang island today (😭) to go to Kuala Lumpur before my flight to Bali on Monday (😆). We took a New Asia Travel bus which had huge seats and a spacious layout. The drive was about 5 hours with scenic views most of the way. I recommend New Asia Travel because they're cheap and comfortable, however they did not have any outlets on the bus, which would have been awesome. There are a lot of different ways of traveling Penang to Kuala Lumpur, but the New Asia Travel bus was the least expensive ($10 USD). Once we arrived at TBS in Kuala Lumpur, we had lunch and took to the train. [[Shout out to KIRSTY & CONNOR who I met in Penang and provided me with awesome company.]] After parting ways with my new friends, I found myself orbiting a building looking for the Dreamville Hostel. Eventually I had to ask a man at a nearby hotel to point me in the right direction, and he very kindly walked me down the block to Dreamville Hostel. There are a lot of apps travelers use to ease their challenges, but I find Maps.me to be the most beneficial app I have. It has neat features and works offline, which is a must. If you're planning on traveling and are looking for travel apps, don't skip Maps.me. Come join us for a transit day as we head from Malaysia to Thailand with Air Asia flying from Kuala Lumpur to Chiang Mai in this travel vlog. It has been a few years since we flew out of Kuala Lumpur and since that time a brand new budget airline terminal known as KLIA 2 has replaced the LCCT terminal which was one of our least favorite in Southeast Asia. The new terminal is an MASSIVE upgrade and we enjoyed time to have some snacks and drinks as well as do some shopping (Sam bought a new polo t-shirt) before we boarded our Air Asia flight from KL to Chiang Mai. Overall, it was a smooth enough flight aside from some initial turbulence and the taxi over to Smith Residence where we'll be staying in Chiang Mai for a month was easy and efficient. We had planned to grab a bite at Dada Kafe but it was closed so we went next door to Juicy 4U to eat some healthy fruit smoothies and veggie sandwiches. The adventures in Chiang Mai, Thailand continue! Malaysia to Thailand with Air Asia travel vlog (Kuala Lumpur to Chiang Mai) Video Transcript: The airport adventures continue. Yes. So we're leaving Kuala Lumpur and heading to. We're going to Chiang Mai! What! So excited to be going back to Chiang Mai. Yeah. It is one of our favorite spots in Southeast Asia. No, I would actually correct that. It is one of our favorite spots in the world to go hang out. And we've had like an insane travel schedule over the last month and a half. Really for most of this year. And what we're planning to do is we're going to head to Chiang Mai and we're going to spend a whole month there just kind of. What a luxury. A whole month in one place. We have so much work to catch up on. So much so many videos to edit and so yeah we just really need to have a base for a while and we've been craving that for quite a while. Well this is our first time that we've flown out of Malaysia for like two or three years. And we often got budget flights in the past and we flew out of the LCCT. The low cost carrier terminal. Which was awful. That place was a gong show. But now they've upgraded to what is called the KLIA. KLIA 2. And man this is a nice airport. Such a massive upgrade. It is so much more comfortable. So much more spacious. A lot more places to eat, a lot more places to rest and it is air conditioned inside unlike the old airport terminal where it was a sweat fest. To Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai with Air Asia. Well the bags made it. And here comes Sam. You've already got the bags. Somebody was being too polite and got stuck at the back of the line. That immigration line was crazy. Normally Chiang Mai is really efficient and fast but it was a zoo. Too many people an absolute zoo. Luckily we were near the front. People at the back of the flight. They're going to be there like an hour. At least. Off we go. So we just paid for our taxi. 150 Baht. It is more than what you'd pay if you hailed someone you know on the road but in the airport. I know but it is still less than five bucks so not bad. What can I tell you about the flight? It was a very scary ascent. I would say we had to fly through some pretty thick clouds. Some pretty heavy turbulence like the first you know ten to fifteen minutes up in the air. So that wasn't fun. Alright guys so we're all checked in to the apartment for the month but right now we need food so the apartment tour will have to wait. Food is the priority. So it is a bit of a rainy day here but the water doesn't seem to bother Sam. He doesn't need an umbrella. So we are going in search of food and we are walking to the moat. To the walled part of the city. And we're looking for Dada Kafe. So we came all the way to Dada Kafe and then we saw the sign. It is closed on the 1st of every month. Right across the street there is another place called Juicy 4U and they have really great smoothies as well and it is all like healthy raw, vegan, vegetarian food. And it is really tasty. We've got a mango and coconut smoothie coming and I have an amazing sandwich coming. Sorry for the abrupt ending. We were exhausted. That's all we filmed! A fine and comfortable trip onboard Malaysia's A330. I was lucky enough to score a "throne" seat which meant a very private seat with large amounts of storage space. The onboard serve was great. The FAs were quick to get to work with welcome drinks, towels, and newspapers. They weren't particularly interactive but it was business class on a regional flight. Everything was done quickly and so it was very much appreciated. The food was good. The satay was fantastic and the main course was a flaky though a bit soggy generous portion of fish fillet. The lounge situation in Shanghai has always been confusing to me since they are all numbered so I am never sure which ones are the good ones. Most of the lounges are small, old and badly maintained. However the lounge I went to was the new China Eastern lounge. The catering was okay but the design of the lounge was really nice. Hopefully the catering will improve. Overall, a nice ride with Malaysia and would not hesitate to fly with them again.

SOUTHEAST ASIA TRAVEL GUIDE - Southeast Asia which include Thailand,Malaysia and Bali is one of the most magical and beautiful regions on Earth. The countries here are full of stunning beaches, historic temples, thriving forests and bustling cities.Southeast Asia is a great place to start your travels – it’s affordable, safe, diverse, friendly and beautiful. The backpacking trail through Southeast Asia is well known. Starting from beautiful Thailand which famous for its beaches ,nightlife and parties then moving to Malaysia and Singapore. This guide will tell you where to go in Southeast Asia, and give you the tips you need, to have an amazing trip. Accommodation in Southeast Asia is really cheap. If you do end up needing a visa upon arrival at your chosen destination(s), be prepared with US dollars and small photos of yourself. Many airport visa offices have ATMs/exchange services (albeit with terrible rates) and photo booths, but this is a hassle that you can easily avoid by bringing the required items from home. Consider printing out online forms and filling them out ahead of time in order to sail quickly through an airport. Places to visit in Thailand Pattaya , Phuket and Bangkok Places to visit in Indonesia Bali and Java

Today was a very good day indeed, we got to do the one thing I had hoped to do while in Kuala Lumpur and that was to visit the top of the Petronas Twin Towers. We arrived early and got our tickets to firstly take a ride to the sky bridge and then to the viewing deck at the top. The Petronas Twin Towers are currently the tallest twin towers in the world and they were the tallest building in the world from 1998 - 2004. After our visit we had a wander around the KLCC shopping centre in the basement of the towers and checked out the F1 Display. Next weekend is the Formula 1 Malaysian Grand Prix so there was a big Mercedes Display and also a Sauber Petronas F1 Car, Lewis Hamilton & Nico Rosberg are due to be making an appearance in a few days but we are heading to Cambodia tomorrow. The journey begins! Scotty and I quit our jobs, moved our stuff into storage and are travelling around Southeast Asia until the funds run out. We've always talked of doing something like this, but we decided to take the plunge and really go for it. We are starting our travels in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and staying with our old pal and roommate Sunil. From there, we will be traveling to Bali, Indonesia. Our goal is to experience as much as we can, get out of our comfort zones, and really live our lives to the fullest. We plan to share this journey with friends and family and anyone else interested in our journey. The goal is to put out one travel vlog weekly, to share the good, the bad, and everything in between. Stay tuned and enjoy the ride!! xoxo Estie & Scotty Music: https://www.epidemicsound.com/ Video: Shot on iphone 6, Canon G7X, and GoPro Hero 5

Today was a relatively relaxed and uneventful day in comparison to recent ones. We got the train from Singapore at 8:30am from the Woodlands Checkpoint after clearing immigration to enter Malaysia. We then had a 7 hour train ride through the jungle landscape of Malaysia to the capital Kuala Lumpur. We had chosen to ride in an air conditioned carriage this time which sadly had steamed windows so not a great deal could be seen as we headed north. We arrived in KL at 16:00, got free wifi in the station and booked a hotel around the corner. A relaxed evening was had before we called it a night in preparation for a visit to the Petronas Twin Towers tomorrow. This travel hyperlapse video (timelapse in movement) of Asia called "Share your dream" presents a selection of our best picks throughout our 6-month trip in Asia. Sylvain created a cool mix of his best timelapse and hyperlapse, which gives a young, innovative and dynamic style. It should not be forgotten that hyperlapse creates an ultra-undercranking effect, realized frame by frame, while moving step by step. Regarding the timelapse, this is the same effect, while remaining fixed (without movement). Travel in Asia and discover the beauty of this continent.
