Bill Nye The Science Guy on Heat (Full Clip)

02:06
Heat flows. It's the energy of moving molecules. Heat makes things go; it can make things burn. From snow to ice floe, things may look cold, but they've got heat. Conduction, radiation, convection, natural & forced that's how heat gets around.

Heat Pumps: World's First LEED Net Zero Home - buildaroo.com

02:55
Paul Rosen, the owner of this LEED home, talks about the sustainable heating and cooling of this home. This home is heated using an outdoor heat pump manufactured by Bryant. Paul explains that a heat pump is an air conditioner that can reverse its cycle, and instead of supplying the house with air that's cool, it can supply the house with air that's hot. These heat pumps were installed on the south side of the home so that based on the sun's movements, they are in the bright sun in the winter and they are in the shade in the summer. According to Paul, these heat pumps are 20% more efficient at heating when they are located in the sun. Paul explains that heat travels in 3 ways: radiant heat, conductive and convective. The reason these pumps are more effective when in the sun is because a radiant heat effect is created that would not be there otherwise. The reason these pumps are more effective when in the sun is because a radiant heat effect is created that would not be there otherwise. With all this heat pumping, how can this home be a Net Zero home? The almost non-existent heating bill is the result of the photovoltaic (PV) panels that generate the electricity necessary to power the heat pump. These PV panels also generate extra electricity during certain months that feed into the grid, and the home takes back what it needs during the cool nights in the winter. In addition to using a heat pump to heat and cool the home, the home has a Radco storage tank and heat exchanger to supply the home's hot water. This water is heated through the home's Solar Thermal panels. About the speaker: Paul Rosen is a sustainability consultant and founder of North Bay Energy.

Radiant Barrier Installation - How To Install Radiant Barrier

04:58
http://AtticFoil.com - Radiant Barrier Installation - Open-Ridge Staple-Up Method This video shows the professional installers from www.GreenLows.com installing heavyweight double-sided AtticFoil Radiant Barrier Foil Insulation. The Open-Ridge or staple up method is usually the best installation method for warm or hot climates. The concept is pretty simple. The roof gets hot and is converted to radiant energy (heat). Radiant heat travels at the speed of light until it is either absorbed or reflected. Normally, the heat is absorbed by attic insulation. By installing radiant barrier attic foil, the radiant heat being emitted by the roof is reflected BEFORE it has the chance to be absorbed by the attic insulation. The result is cooler insulation, less heat gain into the home and a more efficient and comfortable home. Order Radiant Barrier Online: http://AtticFoil.com Visit http://AtticFoil.com for complete information on Do-It-Yourself Radiant Barrier Foil installations, tips and tricks.

Heat Treatment of Cancerous Tumour Simulation

01:01
Please consider an irregular cancerous growth, say in a prostate. Initially the whole malignant tumour (considered 2-D)is at 37 degrees C, hence the blue color. A possible future method of cancer treatment is to have enzymes carry gold nanoparticles to the cancerous growth. The patient is then irradiated with radio waves, and the cancerous growth gets heated above 43.4 degrees C when the cells die. Then at time = 0, heating is started caused by radiation on the targeted gold nanoparticles and the prostate boundary is maintained a temperature of 37 degrees C. Subsequent slides show how the heat travels through the cancerous tumour until the malignant cells die.

Radiant Barrier Foil Insulation - Why Is Air Gap or Space Required?

04:32
http://AtticFoil.com - Why Is An Air Space Required For Radiant Barrier? Ed Fritz, the owner of http://AtticFoil.com illustrates why you MUST have an air gap on at least one side of the radiant barrier foil insulation for it to be effective. In fact, without an air gap, heat flow is actually accelerated through conduction or conductive heat flow. Ed also explains and demonstrates the difference between reflectivity and emissivity. This video gives tips on adding radiant barrier to walls and why you cannot put radiant barrier directly between the shingles and your roofing felt or deck when you re-roof with new shingles. Radiant Barrier Decking works off of emissivity rather than reflectivity. THE SOLAR STIRLING ENGINE, AND MUDDMANN'S SOLAR SUNDOGS

07:54
FIRST OFF, WHAT IS A SOLAR SUNDOG? A SOLAR SUNDOG IS A HOTDOG COOKED BY THE SUNS LIGHT. THESE TASTE MUCH BETTER THAN BOILED , FRIED , GRILLED , OR MICROWAVED HOT DOGS. THE REASON BEING THAT THE SUNS LIHJY TRAVELS THROUGH THE HOT DOG THUS FRING THE JUICES INSIDE OF THE HOT DOG. THIS ALSO MAKES THE OUTSIDE VERY CRISPY. AND BRINGS OUT THE TOTAL FLAVOR. YUMMY !!! THE FIRST PART OF THIS VIDEO SHOWS THE POWER OF THE SUN IN A DIFFERENT WAY. THE FRESNEL LENS COLLECTS THE HEAT RADIATION OF THE SUN AND PUTS THE HEAT ON THE HOT CAP OF THE STIRLING ENGINE. THIS ENGINE WAS MADE FROM STUFF OUT OF MY TRASH CAN. (ALL CLEANED UP OF COURSE). THE SUN WAS BEHIND THE CLOUDS MOST OF THE TIME, BUT IT STILL HAD THE POWER TO RUN THE ENGINE AT A DECENT SPEED. WHEN IT DID COME OUT THE FOCAL POINT WAS FOCUSED A LITTLE TOO WELL. AND IT ALMOST BURNED THROUGH THE HOT CAP. I WAS LUCKY BECAUSE IT ONLY TAKES 1 SECOND TO DO THIS. IWAS FAST ENOUGH TO KEEP IT FROM DAMAGING THE CAP ENOUGH TO GO THROUGH IT. THE SURFACE DID MELT A LITTLE. THIS I WAS RELIEVED OF. WHEW!!!! NEXT I MELTED ABOUT 12 LIDS TO THE SODA CANS I DRILLED FOR MY SOLAR CAN FURNACE. THIS ENABLED THE ALUMINUM TO TRANSFER THE SOLAR HEAT TO THE HOT CAP WITH OUT ANY DANGER TO THE ENGINE. THE TOTAL AREA OF THE LENS IS THE TOTAL HEAT COLLECTED, AND THE SIZE OF THE FOCAL POINT SHOULD JUST COVER THE CAP WITH OUT LETTING ANY LIGHT TO PASS AROUND IT. THIS GIVES MAXIMUM TRANSFER OF HEAT WITH OUT DAMAGE. THANKS FOR WATCHING MUDDy.

Bending the light - physics experiment

01:19
http://www.fizik.si This is an interesting experiment to show the total internal reflection. We get the total reflection if the light enters to an optical less dense material and the incidence angle is big enough. The incidence angle at which the ray refracts exactly along the boundary line, is called the boundary angle of the total reflection. With the total reflection we can lead the light along the curved ways, as optic fibres or water jets. This is physics experiment for science project. http://www.fizik.si Zanimiv poskus za prikaz popolnega odboja.

Airtitle Radiant Ceilings Heat, Cool & Save Energy - buildaroo.com

03:15
Steel Ceilings, the manufacturer of the Airtite Radiant Heating Ceiling Systems, had the Airtite product on display at this year's Greenbuild conference. This system supplies both heating and cooling, and is mostly used in commercial properties. Although Steel Ceilings has been manufacturing and installing radiant ceiling systems for 50 years (improvements have of course been made since then), this technology is not as widely heard of as radiant flooring. The Buildaroo News Team interviewed Paul of Steel Ceilings and were shocked to find out how energy efficient this heating and cooling system really is. Watch the video above to find out more about this great product. And visit buildaroo.com for more videos about green sustainable companies and products. How it works: For heating - Hot water circulates through the radiant ceiling panels. This creates elevated surface temperatures, which causes radiant energy to be transmitted to colder surfaces. Radiant energy travels in straight lines heating solid objects such as walls, floors, furniture, people etc. In turn, all these surfaces within the space reradiate to one another until equilibrium is attained. For cooling - Radiant ceiling panels absorb radiant energy from warmer room surfaces and people, and the water circulating through the radiant panels carries off the heat absorbed by the panels. In addition, the chilled water running through the radiant ceiling panels cools the warmer stratified air at the ceiling, which in turn further cools down the room. How efficient is it? Since it's an all water system, it's about 20% more efficient than conventional mechanical air systems. Other advantages: - durable product with a long life cycle - Very flexible installation - can be bound to high metal ceilings. - No moving parts that are complicated to install and are prone to breakage

Canned heat bluze, Here is a little story about this song of the soul this song brings to me, thanks to wonderful soul in Hippie1abc for how you get this video fixed after youtube broke it, it lives once again, :-) As you can guess, this song has the soul of me, and not only me, but of a lot of whom I met in my travels, this song is a international travel song That I have been playing and always, everyone digs it for sure, and my blues version, well, between the soul, and the blues that a traveler can get on a journey, well, needless to say... an example, last day in Peru, after a year there exploring the unbeaten path, discovering a whole new world, I decided to go to a gringo hotel as I waited for the plane, There was a Frenchman with a guitar playing in the restaurant, a German sitting with him, and some how or another, a Englishman and a Canadian ended up in my room along with them, I already gave away all my possessions in Peru, but I had my slide with me. I proceeded to play this song, and well, it hit all our souls, and even the Frenchman and German new the words in English, and we all just sang away at this, as it truly is the international song of all time, any tramp that goes where others only dream of, well, not only do they know the song, they live it, all in the search for whatever is around the bend. An using a guitar in my travels, has taken me, to places, that a tourist can not find, its all apart of the cosmic plan of thumbetis, god of the hitch hikers, and add the good karma of only doing good and doing no harm, well, what a wonderful journey it has been, and now, after a break, of 2 years or so, Im getting ready to do it all again, so for the next 3 months, I am playing and playing and writing and playing, getting ready for the next travel of where ever it may lead. Peace to all that understand, what the soul of this song truly means, and may this version, if you decide to play it yourself Like I did, bring you all the cosmic karma of what it all truly means in a journey, where life is great where you never would expect it, Peace and God speed..
