Amazing Turtle's Eye View of the Great Barrier Reef | WWF Australia

03:55
The Great Barrier Reef is home to almost 6000 species. Thanks to GoPro, here’s what the journey through it looks like for one of them. Check out this amazing footage of a turtle’s eye view of the Reef. To find out more about the level of pollution affecting turtles within the Great Barrier Reef, WWF is working on innovative project in Queensland with the support of our partners Banrock Station Wines Environmental Trust, James Cook University, The University of Queensland, the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, State and Commonwealth government agencies, Indigenous rangers and local community groups. As part of that project, the opportunity arose to very carefully fit a small GoPro camera to a turtle, to better understand the post-release behaviour of tagged green turtles. The result is this amazing video. Earth Hour Australia 2014 Report Back

www.earthhour.org.au Last Saturday, we celebrated Earth Hour. And wow was it beautiful. Thank you so much to every single person across Australia and the world who came together and marked the occasion in their own wonderful way. We told our leaders it's lights out for the Reef if we don't change course on climate change, but we know that hearing this message for an hour alone once a year is not enough. That's why we're launching Earth Hour Action - a year round community movement to help Australia make progress tackling climate change. Find out more: www.earthhour.org.au

An introduction to the Heart of Borneo

04:11
www.wwf.org.au Straddling the highlands of Indonesia and Malaysia, and reaching out through the foothills to Brunei, the forests of Borneo are some of the most biologically diverse habitats on Earth. Orang-utans, elephants and rhinos roam wild here, as does the lesser-known clouded leopard, sun bear, banteng (wild ox) and endemic Bornean gibbon. But with a current deforestation and forest degradation rate of 1.3 million hectares per year -- an area equivalent to Tasmania's Wilderness World Heritage Area -- critically endangered populations of these and other rare animals and plants face an uncertain future. WWF is attempting to address this by working directly with Borneo's three nations to conserve the 220,000 square kilometres of equatorial rainforest known as the Heart of Borneo.

Safe Passage For Sea Creatures | WWF Australia

A small number of large nets are threatening sharks, turtles, dugongs and more in the Great Barrier Reef. Nets hang like curtains, trapping marine creatures as they swim along ocean highways. Once entangled in a net, these animals can drown in a matter of minutes. Together we can help keep the nets out of the water and save our beautiful marine wildlife in the Reef. 🐋 Humpback Whales Bubble Net Feeding | WWF-Australia

01:10
INCREDIBLE FOOTAGE of humpback whales 'bubble net feeding' in the Antarctic Peninsula. Working together in a group, they swim in a shrinking circle and blow bubbles below a school of krill to force them towards the surface. The Antarctic Peninsula is a crucial feeding ground for many species of whales, including the humpback. Unfortunately, they’re in direct competition with industrial krill fishing. That’s why we need to establish a marine protected area for these beautiful animals. Stay tuned as we advocate to protect the homes of these gentle giants. Fight for the Reef TV Ad 2

00:33
http://www.wwf.org.au/fight4reef A major campaign is launching on TV, because an environmental and economic disaster is unfolding in your backyard. See it for yourself and join your neighbours -- including Bob Irwin -- in the fight for the Reef. With your help, we've been working to protect the Great Barrier Reef for more than a decade. We're working with farmers to reduce water pollution, securing new marine sanctuaries, and nursing threatened species of turtles in marine hospitals. Today, a new threat is emerging. The health of the Great Barrier Reef is at serious risk due to industrial development at an unprecedented scale. The Queensland Government is currently fast-tracking plans for: • 5 mega ports along the Reef • dredging and dumping of millions of tonnes of seabed and rock in Reef waters • creation of shipping superhighways so 7,000 bulk carriers can cross the Reef every year The Reef is one of the world's natural wonders, supporting a $6 billion tourism industry and more than 60,000 jobs.
