Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte launched an expletive-laden tirade during a press conference at the end of ASEAN Summit in Manila on Tuesday.
When asked by a reporter if he had spoken to EU Council President Donald Tusk about donations, Duterte responded: “Forget it. We will survive. Even if we have to eat dried fish and rice. We will survive. Just don't f**k with my country`s sovereignty. That is really an insult. I consider it a very serious insult.”
The Philippines President added: "I will look for the money somewhere. But accepting dollars from a country who thinks you are a killer. Why come to us and offer something? Keep your money, don't meddle up with the sovereignty.”
He went on: “I only answer for the Philippines. I will not answer to any other bullshit. Especially foreigners. Lay off."

The world’s first giant, manned robot “Method-2” took some of it’s first steps in the Gunpo studio of Hankook Mirae Technology company near Seoul, Thursday.
The 3,9m (13ft) Method-2 robot responds to the actions of its handler who is seated in a central cockpit, walking like a human and moving its 130kg (286lbs) robot arms and fingers.
Around 30 engineers have been testing the mammoth machine and lead designer Vitaly Bulgarov drew inspiration from his previous work on the fantasy films, Transformers and Terminator. Since 2014 the company have invested about $200 million (€191.3 million) in the robot’s production and development and estimate it could be on sale by the end of 2017 at a price of around $8,3 million (€7,9 million).

A huge stone sphere discovered in a forest near the town of Zavidovici, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, led Bosnian archaeologists to speculate that it may be the largest and oldest sphere of its kind in Europe carved by human hands, Wednesday.
SOT, Nedzad Ikanovic, President of the organisation "Stone spheres" Zavidovici (Bosnian): "This year I started locating stone spheres in the Zavidovici area, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and I got the information about a certain sphere which was previously not known. Resident Suad Keserovic took responsibility for the sphere and he is looking after it. Now we have a new tourist destination in Zavidovici."

The wombat, known as Patrick, was hand-raised after being orphaned as a baby and sadly remains a virgin. He has lived nearly his entire life in captivity at the Ballarat Wildlife Park as he couldn’t defend himself against other wombats in the wild.

"We are not gays," President of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe told the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Monday. "We reject attempts to prescribe new rights that are contrary to our values, norms, traditions and beliefs," he said. The comment drew gasps and laughter from the delegates.
However, Mugabe - who led the militant Zimbabwe Afircan National Union against white minority rule in Rhodesia the 1960s and 1970s - also drew applause from the audience after he reiterated his nation's "unwavering" support towards the Palestinian people as well as his condemnation of "destabilisation" policies from outside powers in the Middle East.
Discussing the ongoing tragedy in the Mediterranean, the "tragic situation could have been avoided through the respect of the independence of other countries and non-interference in internal affairs," the 91-year-old Zimbabwean leader added.

Agafia Lykova, the 74-year-old sole hermit and the last survivor in her Old Believers family called for help as she has run out of food and hay, as seen in footage released from the Sayan Mountains on Tuesday.
Lykova used satellite phone to reach local journalist Andrei Grishakov to tell him she has 'run out of everything.'
Kemerovo region governor Sergei Tsivilev as well as local EMERCOM department officials reached Lykova by helicopter and brought her medicine, hay and food.
Lykova lives totally alone in the National Park of the Western Sayan Mountains, deep in Siberian Taiga. The 74-year-old complains she cannot raise her hands, yet she doesn't seek medical help.
In 1978, a group of geologists found Lykova's family living in isolation deep in the Russian Taiga. Since then, the Lykovs have been visited by journalists, activists, as well as National Park inspectors.
Born in 1944, for the first 35 years of her life, Lykova did not have contact with anyone outside of her family. Agafia became a national phenomenon as details of her life became available through books and documentaries dedicated to the last member of the Lykov family.

Russian President Vladimir Putin told members of the WorldSkills Russia national team that “we need such specialists as you," as the team was invited to Moscow on Friday to meet with the president after their success in last weekend’s EuroSkills competition.
SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): "The fact that in the overall ranking you actually took first place is certainly very pleasant and beneficial. It is not only beneficial for you – because this is a good start for future work and a profession – but it is also a very good signal that will undoubtedly raise the prestige of working professions which is highly necessary today. But not only is the prestige important, it is also significant, because we need such specialists as you. The economy needs such specialists, because it is impossible to move forward without such a level of training, it is simply impossible to develop. I am convinced that it should effect the whole system of professional development, especially in the regions, so that the enterprises and administrative bodies could focus on the standard you are setting now."

An electromagnetic railgun was successfully tested by scientists in Shatura, Moscow Region, on Wednesday.
SOT, Mikhail Shurupov, Research Officer, Institute of High Temperatures, Russian Academy of Sciences (Russian): "When you deal with speeds of over four kilometres per second the nature of interaction changes into shock-wave. When hitting the obstacle the shell arises an intense shock wave which affect the object and even can pass through the object onto the obstacle."
SOT, Mikhail Shurupov, Research Officer, Institute of High Temperatures, Russian Academy of Sciences (Russian): "You can see here what a projectile of 15 grams can do with an aluminum target at a speed of around three kilometres per second."
SOT, Mikhail Shurupov, Research Officer, Institute of High Temperatures, Russian Academy of Sciences (Russian): "There were tests of a multilayer anti-meteorite cover conducted on this stand. A sample was made and brought to us. We reach the needed speed [of a projectile] which is the same as the speed of space particles or space junk that can hit the spacecraft. We can research all of this, so the purpose of our work is fundamental."

A motorcycle able to travel up to 500 kilometres (310 miles) on a litre of water was trumpeted by creator Ricardo Azevedo in Sao Paulo, Monday.
Called the 'T Power H20,' the design features a combination of water and a single, external car battery used to produce electricity and separate the hydrogen from the water molecule. The process, involving a pipe-system, results in combustion which subsequently creates the energy necessary to power the bike.

The Lao People's Democratic Republic has returned 30 legendary T-34-85 tanks to the Russian Federation, as shown in footage shot in Vladivostok and released on Wednesday.
“These T-34-85 [tanks] were returned to the Russian Federation in the full working order. They are ready to be used which means that they did not lose their combat capacity and their combat power,” General-major Alexander Khanov, head of the Armoured Automobile Service, said.
The tanks have been in active service in Laos since 1987. Following a visit by Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu in January last year, the two countries agreed that the vehicles would be returned to Russia.
The tanks will be transported to Naro-Fominsk in the Moscow Region, after which they are expected to be used as museum exhibits, film props and participate in parades.

French anti-fuel tax protesters were seen clashing with police on the streets of Paris on Saturday, as people flooded the capital to rally against rising fuel prices and a planned fuel tax.
Protesters were seen throwing stones at and scuffling with police who used water cannons and pepper spray to disperse them. Several protesters were seen being arrested.
The "yellow vest" protest movement has grown over the past weeks, as the government plans a tax increase on fuel, including gasoline and diesel, beginning on January 1, 2019 to promote environmentally friendly practices.

A father and son team inspired by the 'Transformers' film have created their own car-robot, built from a Russian-made 'Lada' vehicle. The Russian version of the Optimus Prime Transformer was demonstrated at a stunt show in Oryol, Thursday.
SOT, Gennadi Kocherga, head of the stuntmen theatre, sports and entertainment performances (Russian): "This year, I was in Singapore and I visited a Chinese market, where I saw a toy car driving around. And it was rising up and coming down [as a Transformer], so I bought it. Then I came home and before New Year's Eve, we began to work on it and wrap it up. We tested it and remastered it a few times because a toy is a toy. But [we took] the general concept and the idea and that is the result. It looks like a world-class car, it can drive and shoot, it performs the same tricks as seen in the film, in the cartoons. The next year, we plan to build another two cars, based on the same concept. We already have a lot of unusual ideas.

A meeting of Ukraine's National Council of Reforms was cancelled in Kiev, Wednesday, after a heated argument broke out between Odessa's Governor Mikheil Saakashvili and Interior Minister Arsen Avakov. The argument broke out after Avakov questioned Saakashvili over accusations he had made claiming that Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers was guilty of corruption. The heated exchange ended with Avakov throwing his glass of water over Saakashvili.
Both politicians were arguing over Saakashvili's statement at the Odessa anti-corruption forum, where he accused the Cabinet of Ministers of "heading corruption." Avakov argued that the Odessa governor had failed to present any evidence of his claims and accused Saakashvili of corruption and of impeding the privatisation of the Odessa port factory.

Seven ancient Egyptian tombs containing mummified cats and scarabs, have been discovered in the Saqqara necropolis, 30 km (19mi) south of Cairo, according to an announcement by Egypt's Minister of Antiquities Khaled El-Enany on Saturday.
Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Dr Mostafa Waziri, said he believes this is the first time the preserved insects have ever been found, saying "we asked museums in many countries if they have mummified scarabs, but no one have mummified scarabs till today."
Three of the tombs, which date back to the New Kingdom period and are between 3500 and 3000 years old, appear to have been used for feline burial as dozens of mummified moggies were discovered within, as well as wooden cat statutes and representations of the cat goddess Bast.
The other four tombs are believed to date from the Old Kingdom period and are thus at least 4000 years old.

French police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse anti-fuel tax protesters who were rallying against rising fuel prices and a planned fuel tax in Paris on Saturday.
A vehicle and a tent of a nearby café were set on fire, while people barricaded behind pieces of furniture as they tried to hide from water cannons and march further.
Some were seen shaking a traffic light in a bid to break it, while others were turning what seemed to be a vehicle over to use as a barricade against police.
The "yellow vest" movement has grown in the past weeks, as the government plans a tax increase on fuel, including gasoline and diesel, beginning on January 1, 2019 to promote environmentally friendly practices.

The mother of WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange said his life was in "immediate and critical" danger and that new Ecuadorian Embassy requirements were aiming to "torture" him and force him to leave, while speaking at the Assange-supporting #Unity4J online vigil event on Saturday.
"This is not a drill. This is an emergency," Christine Assange said. "He is right now alone, sick, in pain. Silenced in solitary confinement. Cut off from all contact and being tortured in the heart of London. The modern-day cage for political prisoners is no longer the Tower of London, it is the Ecuadorian Embassy."

Aleppo’s main shopping area swarmed with customers as it reopened for the first time in two years, Saturday.
Shop keepers displayed their goods and fixed shop entrances, while families walked between the different shops.
Al-Tall street market was closed after being targeted with missiles by armed groups. Aleppo locals begin to get back to normal life after the Syrian Army's announcement on December 22, that it had recaptured the whole of eastern Aleppo following four-years of militant occupation. Prior to the conflict, Aleppo was Syria’s industrial and financial centre.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic gave a three-month-old Yugoslavian shepherd puppy called Pasha to Russian President Vladimir Putin during his official visit to Belgrade on Thursday.
This particular breed of dog, also known as Sarplaninac, is known for its large size, resistance to cold and has even been known to fend off bears and wolves. Therefore, it is hardly surprising that this breed is used as guard dogs in the Serbian Military. However, Pasha appeared to be a little overwhelmed by all the attention he was receiving and did not exhibit any of these traits today.
Giving the Russian president dogs has become a bit of a tradition. Pasha will join Putin’s pack, which currently comprises Buffy, a Karakachan dog from Bulgaria, Yume, a Japanese Akita, and Verni an Alabai from Central Asia. In December 2016, Putin turned down the offer of another dog from the Japanese government, intended as a partner for Yume.
During his visit to Belgrade, Putin held bilateral talks with Vucic, during which numerous agreements on cooperation were signed. Putin is expected to award Vucic with the order of Aleksandr Nevsku and visit Serbian Orthodox temple of St. Sava.
