03:08
Subscribe to our channel! rupt.ly/subscribe Russian President Vladimir Putin made the dream come true for one, very ill, young boy on Saturday, when he arranged for Artem Palianov to soar through the skies on an exclusive helicopter tour above Saint Petersburg. Putin joined in with the Dream With Me project aimed at fulfilling the wishes of seriously ill children when he attended a Russian volunteer's forum at the beginning of December. Artem, from the Leningrad Region, was one of the children who the Russian president promised to help turn his dreams into a reality. The boy's cherished aspiration was to see Saint Petersburg from a bird's-eye view. Prior to the much-anticipated tour, Putin received the boy and his family in the Konstantinovsky Palace, where the Russian leader offered them tea, talked through the tour's route, wished them well for the upcoming New Year and gave them festive presents. The president then drove Artem, his brother and father to the helipad. The Dream With Me charity project seeks to help children and the elderly with life-threatening illnesses to achieve their dreams. UN: "We are not gays" - Mugabe shocks the UN General Assembly

02:43
"We are not gays," President of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe told the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Monday. "We reject attempts to prescribe new rights that are contrary to our values, norms, traditions and beliefs," he said. The comment drew gasps and laughter from the delegates. However, Mugabe - who led the militant Zimbabwe Afircan National Union against white minority rule in Rhodesia the 1960s and 1970s - also drew applause from the audience after he reiterated his nation's "unwavering" support towards the Palestinian people as well as his condemnation of "destabilisation" policies from outside powers in the Middle East. Discussing the ongoing tragedy in the Mediterranean, the "tragic situation could have been avoided through the respect of the independence of other countries and non-interference in internal affairs," the 91-year-old Zimbabwean leader added. France: 'Yellow Vest' protests return to Paris

Subscribe to our channel! rupt.ly/subscribe "Yellow vest" protesters took to the streets of Paris on Saturday for a fifth consecutive weekend of demonstrations. This comes despite French President Emmanuel Macron's plea to halt all demonstrations in wake of the Strasbourg Christmas market attack. Protesters dressed in yellow vests were seen running away from tear gas canisters fired by police to disperse the crowd. Officers also blocked protesters from reaching important streets in the capital's centre. Weeks of civil unrest across France have forced the government into making multiple concessions. The "gilets jaunes" (yellow-vest in English) were initially motivated by the announcement of fuel tax hikes, but the movement evolved into an expression of general anger at high costs of living, poverty and inequality in the country. Brazil: This motorbike runs on WATER!

01:25
A motorcycle able to travel up to 500 kilometres (310 miles) on a litre of water was trumpeted by creator Ricardo Azevedo in Sao Paulo, Monday. Called the 'T Power H20,' the design features a combination of water and a single, external car battery used to produce electricity and separate the hydrogen from the water molecule. The process, involving a pipe-system, results in combustion which subsequently creates the energy necessary to power the bike. Russia: Putin sings Soviet song about space with Moscow students

Russian President Vladimir Putin suprised students at Moscow State University, as he joined them in singing a Soviet song about cosmonauts, Wednesday. The Russian leader was attending Student Day, which is traditionally celebrated in Russia on January 25. SOT, Student at Moscow State University, (Russian): "If we are speaking about the results, we, the students of Moscow State University, would like to present a black belt as a keepsake to you as to the master of sports in judo." SOT, Vladimir Putin, President of Russia (Russian): "You know that this movement of construction brigades was born nearly 60 years ago, but actually even earlier. In the 20s there were first labour semesters among young people, as they were called then, and the real movement of construction brigades started in the 60s. This is quite an interesting and important field of work. As you know and I already said about this publicly, at one time I also worked in construction brigades and received the a carpenter certificate of the fourth category. And I am very proud of it." Belgium: 'Yellow Vest' protesters hit streets of Brussels

01:50
'Yellow Vest' protesters and police went head to head during a rally in Brussels on Saturday. Protesters could be seen arguing with police officers, who were clad in riot gear and used wire fencing at the demonstration. Protests earlier in the week saw police firing tear gas and water cannons at protesters attempting to gain access to blockaded areas. The 'Yellow Vest' movement emerged last month after French President Emmanuel Macron announced controversial hikes in fuel prices to encourage a transition towards greener energy. The French government have now suspended the prices hikes but the protests have nevertheless continued. USA: Protesters demand action over sex abuse outside Catholic bishops' meeting

03:48
Catholic worshippers from across the US repeated calls for justice for victims of clerical sex abuse outside the US Catholic Bishop Assembly in Baltimore on Tuesday. The Silence Stops Now rally was held directly opposite the Baltimore Marriott Hotel, where the US Conference of Catholic Bishops were gathered for their annual Fall General Assembly. The event was organised by Church Militants, the Lepanto Institute, and the Crusade among others with the mission to "restore the authenticity of faith." James Grein, who says he was abused by ex-Cardinal Theodore McCarrick for 18 years, spoke at the rally, identifying himself publicly for the first time. "I once said why bother. No one would believe me. I tried and no one listened. Well now it's time to bother," he said after revealing his full name for the first time. Grein also condemned Pope Francis's order to the US Bishops Assembly to abstain from the much-anticipated vote on the adoption of a new code of conduct for US bishops. "It's not Francis's church, it's Jesus Christ's church," he added. Belgium: 'We'll win on Sunday' - Croatian pres. arrives for NATO Summit following Juncker, Macron

03:03
Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said the NATO Summit will be successful and Croatia will win the 2018 World Cup final, during her arrival at the second of the NATO Summit in Brussels on Thursday. Grabar-Kitarovic said she and her colleagues followed the Croatia-England semi-final over dinner on Wednesday. "The atmosphere was wonderful, because all the allies were cheering for all of us mostly. It's good that actually four teams from the allies are in the finals." Regarding the upcoming meeting between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Grabar-Kitarovic hoped both could find a "common language." And the meeting is also important for "southeastern Europe to keep security and stability," she said. European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker meanwhile said he hoped that Trump and Putin will "move forward" through dialogue. The NATO representatives are also "moving forward," as the first day of the Summit went well, French President Emmanuel Macron stated. The leaders will continue "in a calmer atmosphere than what is being said and with a strong will to maintain NATO's unity."
